I took a break from tracking, but... I need to get back to it because it definetely makes a difference in how much I am eating etc. I too have been ashamed to go back to my surgeon. I gained 40 lbs because of a medication my past GI doctor put me on and I have been afraid to go to my surgeon. Missed my 2 yr appt. I am currently weaning off of that medication and with tracking and going to the gym, weight is not coming back off yet. I sure hope it does once I am off the mirtazapine completely. I just made my appt with my surgeon, I just need to put my big girl panties on and go.. explain to him about the medication and how I developed reactive hypoglycemia.

I am sure they will understand- did you know that mirtzapine is what we use sometimes in patients that we want to gain weight? It is a wonderful med but it will certainly cause weight gain, but it sounds like you needed it! You have nothing to be ashamed of- please reach out to your team and see what they can do to help get things going the right way again. Good luck!

@@kakisrnyjourney5376 I could go on a rant about the mirtazapine! lol I was put on it 2 months PO because I will having heartburn etc. A scope showed I was still healing (had a HH repair and sleeve to bypass.) and I was very irritated. PPI wasn't helping so my GI put me on this med to "reset" my nerves and said its functional dyspepsia. . I knew you could gain a few lbs but he never told me they use this drug for weight gain and I was so desperate to feel better that I didn't do my own research like I usually do. When I told him I was always hungry on it and told that to my surgeon after he saw I had started regaining, they both dismissed it and thought I was just over eating and not because of the med. Then I developed the RH. My endo and PCP are the ones that told me how bad that med is for gaining weight and how I probably wont loose until I am off of it. I was on 45mg and I am almost down to 7.5. I was on it 2 years so I am weaning very slowly. I have since found a new GI. So far I am doing good coming off of it. I wish we would have explored more about why I was still having problems after surgery. Found out I have a low level of a dairy allergy... and I cannot do whey protein shakes. Well, you know what we are drinking a lot of after surgery. I also figured out oral progesterone tears my stomach up. I have been on it, then off and as soon as I stop it, my stomach is fine. Those 2 things...If we would have figured it before and i stopped them back then, then I would have been fine. All I can do now is go forward...get off the med and work to take the weight off. but it is a big bummer because I dont loose weight easily esp being in menopause now. I am considering asking for a glp1 drug but also terrified of developing gastroparesis from it. My now teen had that when he was little and was on a gtube for awhile. He outgrew it eventually but I am fully aware of how gastric issues can effect your health.

great idea with the Lose It app. I'm currently using the Baritastic app and don't really see a maintenance option. I may be asking for an apple watch for Xmas. Curious do you do any type of exercise? I'm really bad about that! Had surgery in Jan of this year and down 67 pounds. Really close to goal weight!

For sure check out Lose It! I tried Baritastic because of how many times it was recommended but I could never make it work the way that I needed to. For the first year, I walked 2-3 days a week and did very gentle yoga 2-3 days weekly. I have ramped that up now- I do pilates, barre or yoga most days, and do formal classes on the weekends. I did a video about if exercise was necessary to achieve weight loss (check it out if you haven't) but I need to do one about exercise after you hit goal weight.

Hi Kaki, do you know if it’s normal to have a 2 month stall? I’m 10 months post op and even though I’m doing everything right the scale just won’t move

I can be! I really depends on how much you have lost, where you are at in your journey towards a healthy weight, etc. Have you reached out to your team, especially the dietitian? They might be able to troubleshoot and help get things moving again.
