No NSAIDS. I miss alcohol sometimes. Bread/dough/noodles make me sick. RNY 4/18/24. Joint pain reduced. No longer pre diabetic. I had 2 slices of sushi and miso soup the other day. It was wonderful.

Hi- GB 10/31/2022….closing in on 2 years post op 🎉
It was fun to think of “what I can’t do” because most of what I focus on is what I can do to still address with family and friends. Many people have so many misconceptions about my post op life 😂
Can’t not plan; can’t have a mimosa- bubbles make me feel icky; can’t have a single drink without a designated driver; can’t just keep eating because it tastes good 😮. I say my stomach is small but GREEDY didn’t die. I still like to cook and enjoy trying new recipes… just gotta have my small portion (s). Like you I would not change a thing in this journey. I’m so grateful! 😊

I really miss ibuprofen. I knew I would, but I am grateful I chose the RNY . My primary doctor upped my oxycodone prescription, but I still miss the anti-inflammatory meds. I had a very painful reaction to Indian food! I don’t think it’s the curry. I can eat Thai curry, no problem. That was last December, but it was so painful for 6 hours!. Nepalese food hurt too., but I recognized the sudden pain and I stopped eating right away. Maybe I’ll try again someday. My stomach is unpredictable. Some days I can only eat a small amount of food, but other times I can eat quite a lot. I’ve learned to listen to my little pouch! My one year surgeversary is this Friday! I have lost 100 pounds, 80 since the gastric bypass. I’ve been having some nausea every day.

Thanks for another great video Kaki! I am now down 88lbs and just about 9 mos post op gastric bypass. I have to eat every few hours or else I get shaky as my blood sugar drops ….. that is something I have to keep reminding myself about, that is different now post op. I would love for you to do a video of some simple meal options for when you don’t want to cook, but rather some things you could always have on hand to throw together in a hurry. For instance, I mix 3/4 cup plain Greek yogurt with lemon protein powder, frozen raspberries (thawed), and high protein granola as a topping. It is approx 45grams of protein, is delicious, and good for you, and filling…..can you give us some other simple ideas? Right now my body does not tolerate chicken or beef very well….. so maybe other options? I appreciate any other suggestions! Thank you in advance. 😊 Maryrenée

I'm pre op right now, I'm getting the Duodenal Switch on October 30th! As silly as it sounds, I'm really nervous that I won't be able to enjoy a salad again. It's one of my favorite foods and I've heard a lot of people say that they can't tolerate salad post op

Hi Kaki!! I haven't watched this far into your journey yet but I am loving the details of foods and how you are handling the changes. I am only a few months into your videos but find you so easy to watch. In one of your first videos post op you mentioned how you went back to work fairly quickly. I am hoping to do so as well after my surgery. Have a few questions pertaining to that if you have a moment???

Thanks for sharing. I am nine months post-op, and I cannot eat pasta, ground meat of any kind, or fruit. However, I would not change having this surgery for anything. The non-scale victories are too many to count. Could you do a video on how you have dealt with any food issues you have had, such as head hunger or stress eating? Thanks!

The best advice in a group therapy “choose your hard, stay obese and face health issues or choose this hard and give up things that eventually you’ll get used to.” I do miss diet sodas but I can’t tolerate carbonation, I miss a certain gourmet beer. Those aren’t good enough to stay unhealthy in my case. I do think some folks have a tougher time & I do feel for them. I nearly cancelled over no more sodas 😂

    • @kakisrnyjourney5376

I hear ya, that was a hard one for me too! At almost two years out, I can tolerate a sugar free soda occasionally if I drink it slowly, but beer almost always causes me to get low blood sugar. I like that advice from the group therapy- very true!

I can eat basically anything I want but of course much smaller portion but I can no longer tolerate reheated Asian food as it upsets my stomach. No issues with alcohol, I can still have a few drinks. I do miss not being able to take NSAIDS as I am having some treatment for bursitis in my shoulder and I cannot take anti-inflammatories orally but I can use a cream, but I would not change a thing, the operation quite literally saved my life as I hate to think how big I would have gotten 😮

I wish I had some of these to help me. Since day one, I have not had the restriction that most have had/have, I dont ever get sick either. Once, when I went 2 days without much protein I did experience low sugar with the shakes and dizziness and that was no fun. But other than not taking Advil (which I REALLY miss) I have no other things that I cant do or any benefits that I would list as weight loss "tools" from my surgery. Unfortunately, I can eat and drink anything as long as I get in some protein with 2-3 meals a day. I too eat every 3 hours and I have to MAKE myself wait that long. I just dont think that my surgery was done the same or something. I only ended up losing about 35 pounds permanently.

@@kakisrnyjourney5376 unfortunately, the way our clinic was set up, you are never able to actually speak to the surgeon after you are discharged and the "bariatric Doctor" a.k.a. a family physician just says that my RNY surgery is "pristine" based on a scope I had for a ulcer I had. So thats it I guess. And yes, it was a year in May of 2024.

I can't go without drinking enough water daily. It seems like my weight loss slows down if I don't have my water. I can't go without my vitamins because I'll have absolutely no energy. I can't not have enough high quality protein throughout the day because I'll feel hungry and tired and I definitely have to eat often and not drink with my meal. I wish I couldn't have sweets but I still can even though I might have smelly gas later

Hi there! The trips that I have done since Covid are private ones that I go on with a friend or two. I figure out where we want to go, then google "private trips" to where ever that is and email travel companies. I also travel some with women's tour groups when I don't have a friend to go with. I am going to Argentina and Chile next spring with one.

My friend said she can’t get surgery because she can’t eat meat /protein. Meat causes her arthritis worse!!!!!!! Does it really?

    • @kakisrnyjourney5376
      @kakisrnyjourney5376  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

There are plenty of people who get bariatric surgery and adhere to a plant based diet- gout, which is a type of arthritis, can be flared by certain types of meat, most commonly shellfish and processed meats such as bacon, sandwich meat and the like.
