The problem with a lot of people not liking The Bee Gees is because they don’t like the disco era and they think Bee Gees as disco. What they don’t understand is that The Bee Gees had 5 decades of writing songs and performing. They wrote over 1000+ songs for themselves and for other top artists. The Bee Gees disco period was basically just their Saturday Night Fever Album. Most of their albums are R&B, Pop, Soul, Soft Pop. Barry Gibb is second only to Paul McCartney as a prolific songwriter. The Bee Gees are regarded as one of the most important and influential acts in pop-music history.❤❤❤❤
People were sick of disco and bee gees by the late 70s. The sound of the eighties involved glam rock, rock, pop, with synthesizers and electric drums. By the end of 80s people were tired of that and grundge came along. Lets not forget hip hop and rap which ruined music. Today u have garbage music. Now ai will take over
For a real treat, find the video of them singing To Love Somebody from 1967. Mo belts it out with backing vocals - just for a bit, but he kills it. They all had huge ranges and could all easily sing falsetto. Mo is underrated because he wasn't out front much, preferring to play more than sing. But boy, wherever Robin and Barry needed filled in, he did it perfectly. That's a real talent and ability.
There’s more other than disco to The Bee Gees. They are legends. So many awards, so many hits, so many songs they wrote (more for others than themselves). Thirty albums- almost fifty years.
Their ultimate masterpiece as far as I'm concerned. Really difficult to sing live - as Mo said they all liked the song, but 'it was a 'b*tch to sing' lol! Competing falsettos at the end of that one which they all could do easily.
I also love whenever Mo sings falsetto!! I also, here, love Barry singing in his chest voice! And just look at our gorgeous Robin...all decked out in that sexy cream colored outfit, using that glorious voice of his! They guys are just the loves of my life!!❤❤❤
No autotune is damn right! One of my all-time pet peeves with a lot of today's music. These guys sang way more than just disco hits, you just have to fall down that BeeGees rabbit-hole ;)
I have always loved the Bee Gees in all of their forms. Their music is timeless and their albums are fantastic. TWO YEARS ON, TRAFALGAR, MAIN COURSE, SPIRITS HAVING FLOWN, ESP and all of the others are special to me. Still, they did three musical transition albums that I consider their best; ODESSA, MR. NATURAL and LIVING EYES.
All three brothers had their own unique falsetto's, baritone chest voices, and everything in-between, and were also able to slide up and down with ease!!! IMO, they are the most talented group, & exceptional singers of all time! *They were such a wonderful gift to the music industry & our ears* 💝💝💝
Their past is here, there and everywhere. Yesterday, today, tomorrow and so on, up to eternity! Lil story: when I bought the album 'Maincourse' in 1975, as soon I could get it, I listened again and again to the songs 'Jive Talking', 'Nights On Broadway', 'Fanny Be Tender', 'Baby As You Turn Away' and 'Wind Of Change'. Well, also to the other songs, but the difference is, they could have also been on albums before. The five above were setting a new style: Funky rockin' and smooth R&B was onboard. New and so fresh. And by hearing the high voices, I knew nothing about falsetto. First thought was there must be some background-ladies involved, by the end of 'Nights On Broadway'. But then came 'Fanny'.... and also 'Baby....' Brought me to the idea, Maurice must be the one, singin' all those high pitched notes so he always sang the third voice in their choruses, high but not in this category. Then inhaling helium came to my mind but no, I said to myself, they never will use tricks. So I had to find out what's going on and after some days I knew it. Also, that it's mainly Barry, singin' that way. But here, in this live-presentation, it's Maurice, taking that part in perfection. Just like his basslines, which are phenomenal.
There were so many groups back then that I didn't listen fully to the BeeGees. Yet, I knew the words to all their songs. I saw a PBS special on them a few years back. I just fell in love with them.
Same here. I appreciate them so much more now than when they were popular back then. We had an overload of awesome music and didn't fully realize it. I wanna go back in time.
Amazing Voices Amazing Song Amazing Bee Gees. I grow up with the best Group ever. I love the Bee Gees. They had so many Songs. And every Song is a surprice. All 3 Brothers switch his Voices. Nobody can do that. 🕺🥰👍
My husband was the music lover in the family and the Bee Gees were one of his favorites. I remember someone asked what Bee Gees stood for and without hesitation he said Brothers Gibb. I was impressed!
And it was not it stood for Barr Gibb, (3 B’s &3 G’s) Barabara Gibb and Bill Gates being in one room one day and this is how the name BeeGees was born!
@@lydmarl.475 The groups name was originally The BG's - contrived from the common initials between Barry Gibb, Bill Goode, and Bill Gates. The name then evolved from The BG's to the Bee Gees which eventually came to mean the Brothers Gibb!
I appreciate the Gibb brothers and their incredible catalogue much more now than when I was a teen in the 70s. So many amazing songs...and brought back to the spotlight thanks to the Foo Fighters' tribute of covers.
No auto tone with the Bee Gees❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤Check out there younger Andy Gibb. He left us was too soon but could sing like an angle just like his brothers. R.I.P Andy, Robin and Maurice. Disco still lives in my heart.
Back in our late teens and early 20's my friends and I laughed at disco. But all these yrs. later I can now appreciate some of it for what it was and still is. Forget the era it came from. It's good music. Made by talented musicians.
Hey good to see you. I haven't been getting any notifications from you for a long time. Beautiful songs I love the Bee Gees they are the best group ever!! I agree it would be hard not to show your reaction to the Bee Gees. Thanks
Yes! Love this one! And it often gets looked over unfortunately- Love me some Bee Gees period! I got my very own first album in the 70’s in elementary school- it was Saturday Night Fever, cause I loved The Bee Gees songs on it especially- Then I expanded into more of their songs- I was one happy little girl- 🙂❤️✨
The only thing they would do every now and then is a little pitch shift. But yes there was definitely no auto tune Or the little bit of a slow down or overdub voice yes they definitely could sing
I love this one, really highlights their different ranges. Barry singing low and Mo singing acapella. Loves Mo's voice, wonder why they didn't use his voice more in lead parts.
I was 7 years old in 1977.....basically the HEIGHT of the disco era. I miss those days when I was a little kid....seeing my aunts and uncles, many of whom are gone now, having so much fun.
I love this song. When it came out, I had just graduated early from HS and we all loaded up and headed for the Beach. Panama City - 1975. This song was all over the radio and played in the clubs we went to. Wow- I can smell the salty air. ty so much for playing this, Great Choice! Back then the drinking age was 18, so it was easier to pass as 18. Although, I wasn't kidding anybody.
Andy Gibb on Don Kirschner's Rock Concert performing Love Is Thicker Than Water is a must-see--long version with guitar solos & he does a kind of scatting at the end, super talented❤
This was off of their "comeback" R&B album "Main Course" from 1975. It was successful and they continued to write and record in the R&B mode (which later was transformed into a dance/disco sound). Barry's falsetto at the end of this particular song is where the path to the Bee Gees' future mega-success was paved. They decided the sound was so effective that he should use it on more songs ... and the rest is history.
Once again you brought it home with the Bee Gees, I can listen to their music over and over again. So glad we still have their music and so happy they are still finding new audiences. RIP to the twins.
Imagine going ftom songs like Holiday, I started a Joke, Run to me, then this.. Then more after... One of the most underrated musical groups . What unique Vocals. Sad Robin and Mo are gone, keep going Barry!
Yes, Maurice was never given the focus of their performances or interviews. I realized that right away. He has a beautiful voice. He should have been given much more attention. As great as Barry was, he was the frontman all the time. I suspect Barry had an ego problem. However it was, their songs were spectacular and memorable. I will always love and play Bee Gee songs.
"Nights on Broadway" is a song by the Bee Gees from the Main Course album released in 1975. The second single released from the album, it immediately followed their number-one hit "Jive Talkin'". This track was credited to Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb. I was 20 and loved them, I listened to every song. Best harmony I've ever heard. Being brothers helps. Barry was 29, the twins Robin and Maurice were 26.
This and Jive Talkin' were the forerunners of disco, just great R&B-based tunes with a great dance beat. Both came out in 1975 and both still sound great. Love your reacting to these classics. 🎶💃🤍
This is my REACH down for DETERMINATION song!!!! When I lived in Maine this song made me feel like I had a sense of having a HERITAGE living in Maine!!! PORTLAND MAINE is my HOME!!!!!!!

I agree. The Brothers Gibb were very talented and I always did and still do enjoy their music. I didn't and don't
Whoops! Accidentally hit send. But as I was saying, don't consider them disco. Their music lives on!
It’s also okay to like disco!
Youre right
People were sick of disco and bee gees by the late 70s. The sound of the eighties involved glam rock, rock, pop, with synthesizers and electric drums. I love that Mo sings the high part on this one. He never got enough credit for his talent.
Yesss he is so underrated

On, I agree with you there .....he was criminally underrated..... people only appreciated him after he passed and the beegees did too.......
Hell, yeah! Go Mo! love this whole group.. but gotta say that Robin was always my favorite!
@@GinMae Robin was always mine too. He just seemed vulnerable somehow.
The BeeGees are much more than the disco era, Those guys had talent.. 👏
I'm 60 years old, but back then I was 15 years old, and I miss The 70's!♥️✌️
There is no current equivalent to The Midnight Special, where top artist preform live every week. What a time that was to be alive!
Yup. It was a better, vanished time.
We had it all!!! Midnight Special, American Bandstand and Soul Train! Every week during my teen years! Yes, life was very good!
What was funny is that, at least in my area, the Midnight Special came on at 1:00 a.m.!!
@mytreker Yes, it came on at different times, depending on your timezone. Always after Johnny Carson's Tonight Show.
Bbc live radio still has regular great performances but it's something completely different, sorta like NPR's tiny desk concerts
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: This song contains the most beautiful bridge in pop music, IMO.
Absolutely agree!
So true.❤
They do a seriously delicious bridge!!
You NAILED IT, Beachgirl. I’m SO GLAD I’m not the only one who feels that way about that piece. It’s haunting; it’s transcendent; it’s otherworldly.
@@plantmillionsofteees5676 Thank you!
I adore these guys. This is n my top 5
❤ The Bee Gees.
When they did this live, Mo sang the high harmony. And they are sooooo much more than a brief disco era. Their harmonies are the best.
I was surprised! I thought Robin would do the falsetto during the final chorus.
Mo most often did the high harmonies in their choruses.
I love the funky, groovy sound of this song! One of my favorites!
I’m ALL about some funky/groovy!!
Thank you for sharing this love 💕 this song and I love 💞 all the beegees music.
Midnight Special is a gold mine of 70s music. Glad these clips are available.
There has never been a group that could harmonize better than the Bee Gee's...they were amazing!
There’s more other than disco to The Bee Gees. They are legends. So many awards, so many hits, so many songs they wrote (more for others than themselves). Thirty albums- almost fifty years.
A great band, a great, funky song!
I'm glad I grew up with this music!
Maurice aka Mo is performing the falsetto in this one! "Man in the Middle" is another awesome song where Mo gets to vocalize more. 😎
All time favorite Bee Gees song! 🙌🏼
Nothing quite like reminiscing and grooving with you Jamel🎉
This is my favorite performance of this song. Maurice causes alot of jaws to drop. Great song.
The Best, thanks 4 doin' the Bee Gees again!!!
Love the Brothers Gibb!! How can you mend a broken heart!!!! We used to stay up till midnight on Friday nights...all the good music
Always loved the Midnight Special , this is a fantastic song
They had the best harmonies!
Fantastic song…one of my many favorites of theirs. ❤. Please react to “Fanny Be Tender” by them next. It’s glorious.
Yes, definitely. That's such a great song.

Great song...always loved it. ❤ RIP Maurice and Robin. 🌹🕯🌹

I loved the disco era. I was middle school through early high school before it ended and I dreamed of going to a disco.
I love every damn song that the Bee Gees have done. I’m obsessed with this band I freaking love disco period! But this is my absolute favorite PG song

Back when artists could actually sing!

Love Barry’s chest voice and Mo’s falsetto in this great song! Robin is smooth as always!
Doesn't get any better than this. ❤. This is my ringtone.
