You have balls of steel getting close to the guardrails like that. No wing for me this year, but I had to use one last season. Never really got comfortable with it. You do it with precision. Awesome to watch.
I don't know what it is about plowing but boy do I love it. Either doing it or watching your awesome videos. You ever have to hop in a front end loader with a pusher? I enjoyed that but boy what a ride and especially if you hit something. My favorite though is probably doing small lots and commercial driveways with a pick up and v plow on a one ton dump with a solt spreader. Good times. Skidsteer with a snow blade was fun too but that blade was like a razor blade on a beard if you got into the grass! Awesome video, I really enjoyed it. Stay safe, warm and dry buddy.
Thank you! I've been getting a few request for that view so I will see what I can find in my hard drive as I wait for another snowfall. I appreciate your input Leon!
I just had to subscribe... snow and snow plows? My two favorite things, plus these camera angles are great! Keep on the grind and I wish you luck on the way to 50k and even 100k subs!
Hi man, glad to see the Snow Fighters back in action. Awesome video!!! Here, in Northern Scotland we use 85% brine. It’s ok..... as long as the temperature doesn’t go below -7. It re-freezes VERY quickly any lower than that.
Evening, Jim... I've been hoping your winter would finally get underway so we could get out & push some snow! I've been enjoying your channel and am a recent subscriber. Appreciate the content, take care...
How are you liken the mdrive trans so far any complaints we have some macks with them at the company i drive for and you put a load on em they just dont seem to get out of their own way from factory now we did have some tuned and they move damn good.
I like the MDrive for the most part,. The truck seems to have pretty good power and shifts nice and is a real pleasure to drive! Thanks for the comment!
Great video. I plow snow in Northwestern Ontario. I agree that when there's lots of snow is when the fun happens. Also when doing clean up of the shoulders and such.
It is a lot more fun when you have something to push. I also enjoy winging back and cleaning up after a big snow storm. Thank you watching and stay safe out there!
Seems to be the trend this year, a lot of people have said they didn't get much snow this year. We should get some big storms in Feb/Mar. Thanks for watching!
Happy New Year here in Wisconsin we haven’t had much snow I only plowed a few time so far but we will get our snow from late January to April two years ago we didn’t have hardly any snow until late January then got our 3 feet dump in mid April that year 2018
We use salt on the pavement and sand on the double chip seal and gravel roads. We also use sand on the pavement when it is too cold for the salt to work.
Your snow plowing videos are the best. Look forward to them and all the the different views you bring us. Has it been a slow snow Winter so far for you? We have only had one snow so far in Central Illinois. Thanks for putting this video up.
Hey quick question, do you share your truck with other drivers or just a certain driver? Wondering if your assigned or jump around to different trucks?? 👍
I didn't think I would like it at first, but after a few weeks of getting used to it I love it! I find it's a lot less fatigue when working long shifts! Even the wife loves it because I'm not as cranky when I get home, lol. Thanks for asking!
Brine is a simple mixture of salt and water used to spray on the roads. Brine is used on roads before a snowstorm to prevent ice from forming on the roads and is also sprayed on road salt as it's being spread on the roads during snow events. Thanks Theodore!
I never heard of any. I would love to try a set tho. I think they would be a lot safer visibility wise, plus I wouldn't have to hang off the side of the truck in the middle of a storm trying to get the ice off my wiper blades.
That's a nice truck. Love the joystick and spreader controls. Much different from years ago! Thanks for sharing i always watch
Love the outside camera angles... it is so therapeutic to watch snow curl off the plow! Your videos make me wish it would snow!
I don't think I could drive a truck like that. The engine note and just sound that truck makes is so soothing it was putting me to sleep.
It is pretty dreamy to drive, lol.
It’s very therapeutic watching you plow snow. Thanks for the vids and have a great 2021
Thanks, you too! I am glad you enjoyed it!
You have balls of steel getting close to the guardrails like that. No wing for me this year, but I had to use one last season. Never really got comfortable with it. You do it with precision. Awesome to watch.
Thanks Martin! The wing sure take a little getting used to for sure. Now that I'm used to it, I would lost without it.

Seems to me this is like flying a commercial aircraft solo. I’m impressed you can manage those controls and keep all tires on the road! 👍🏼
Thanks Scott! 👍 There is a lot going on in the cab, but with lots of practice, it just becomes second nature.
Love the video ... from 13:35 on I can watch that snow throw for hours lol
You are not the first person to request more of this angle. I will see what I can do...Thank you for the comment!
I was on him all last year for that view. =)
I'm on it! Thanks Leon!
The shot from the right side camera that just barely shows the outer end of the arm and still shows the forward view is by far the best.
Thank you! I've been getting a few request for that view so I will see what I can find in my hard drive as I wait for another snowfall. I appreciate your input Leon!
Dobrý den krásná práce.Hodně zdraví a štěstí v novém roce 2021.😉🙃🙂

We use rock salt sprayed with brine, I find it really works well here as long as it isn't too cold. Thank you for the comment! Cheers!
This video is amazing. I loved the 360 video outside the truck.
Glad you enjoyed it Mike! Be sure to check back for more 360 videos!
Great to see you back at it for another winter. Stay safe.
Thanks, Glad to be back. Now we just need some snow to push lol.
Welcome back! Mom Nature has been holding back snow for most of us in the Northeast USA too.
A lot of people are commenting that they are not getting much snow this year.
Love the video, love de camera work, that's great and... so relaxing! Enjoy the plow!
Beautiful truck and great video!
Thank you very much!
Like the intro Jim, best snow plowing videos out there top notch!
Glad you like them! Thank you for your support!

Thanks Dave! It has been a slow start to the winter, but hopefully we will get a few good storms before winter is over! Cheers!
Yeah Jim!!!! Be waiting for this!! Love the plow vids. Great to hear from ya👍👍
I appreciate the support! It has been a slow start to the season, been pretty warm here this winter!
Exceptional camera views , and I love the sound of that engine, nice job, thanks for sharing !.
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you for showing us how you clear snow great video
Thank you too, it's my pleasure!
Awesome! Glad to see this next episode.
Thanks, I just posted another one!

Thanks for posting the video - love the camera work.
Glad you enjoyed it! The GoPro Max takes it to a whole new level!
Is that the truck with the front wheel drive or front wheel assist?
Nice camera work and fine editing. Thank you for posting!
Glad you enjoyed it Jeff! Be sure to check back for more!

Ah, finally snow! Thanks for posting!
Just waiting for snow...lol! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for your service. From the Cape:)
My pleasure! Thanks for the support!
How do you like this mack compared to the western star you had?
I loved driving that old Western Star, but all the creature comforts of this new truck has me spoiled!
Been checking the channel weekly hoping to see the White Fluff getting tossed. So calming to see it pushed to where it belongs (off the damn road!)
Thanks for checking in Tom! Mother Nature has given us a warm winter so far!
Me looking at the thumbnail: man they put plows on school buses, what a great idea!
Ha ha ha! Don't give them any ideas...might put me outta work!
I thought the same thing!
@@JimHowDigsDirt I think they run some plows on the garbage trucks in nyc.
Hey with kids on there way to class. See busses are light so the kids are weight on the drives.
Man, that’s a sweet truck.
Thanks, it is a real pleasure to drive!
Great video as always, stay safe, happy new year
Thanks, you too!
Thanks for what you do. My original trainer told me when you meet up with a snow plow those are you’re buddies lol!!!
You got that right! we are all One Big Happy Family! LOL
Love the video Jim! Good work as always; we've gotten some snow in western part of Virginia but not in the eastern part so much.
No one seems to be getting much snow this year, hopefully we get some good storms before the season ends!
Dumb question, when your doin the turnaround, whats the black bar that keeps raising? Looks seperate from the plow raising and lowering
Hi Jon! You must be seeing the wing post on the front of the truck. It lifts up when i pick up the front of my wing. Thanks for asking!
I have a question, what do the plow drivers do during the summer when it isn't snowing?
7:05 Idk about out there, but here in Ontario our township will give us sh*t for pushing snow out onto the road like that
Yeah it's pretty annoying and dangerous when people push their snow out on the road. I wish they would enforce it here too.
How do you like the automatic trans?
Here in southwest NB,St Stephen we got about 6".Dot hasn't plowed much yet this year
Seems to be the trend this year, a lot of people have said they didn't get much snow this year. We should get some big storms in Feb/Mar. Thanks for watching!
Nice video. Do u ever do like 2 way plows? Or just a one way?
Thanks! I only use the one way plow on my route. The two truck we have plowing the Trans Canada Highway are the only ones here using two ways.
Oh I see. From what I know, Here In Wisconsin most countries dot has the 2 way. Some high way dot have the one way. Thanks for your response!
Great content. The Mack Granite built for snow removal but needs heated windshield wipers.
I agree, thanks for watching!
If you could change anything about that truck chassis spec what would it be?
Those 360 camera's give a great perspective. Nice job.
Thank you, we are having a lot of fun with the GoPro Max!
Happy New Year here in Wisconsin we haven’t had much snow I only plowed a few time so far but we will get our snow from late January to April two years ago we didn’t have hardly any snow until late January then got our 3 feet dump in mid April that year 2018
Happy New Year to you too Robert! We usually get hit harder later in the season as well! Stay safe.
How many years plowing snow and how many more are you planning to do 😎 .
I have been plowing around 12 years with the DOT. I will keep plowing until it is no longer any fun!
I wish I could spent the week with you that would be fun. But question. Do you guys use sand and salt that’s what my city does
We use salt on the pavement and sand on the double chip seal and gravel roads. We also use sand on the pavement when it is too cold for the salt to work.
@@JimHowDigsDirt so you're the guy I can blame for my rusty pickup?

Yeah, we haven't had much snow so far! That was the biggest snowfall so far this season, thanks for the support! Cheers!
@@JimHowDigsDirt This last storm miss you? We got a little snow in Central Illinois and headed you way.
We only had one light dusting of snow since this video. Maybe that was the tail end of yours?
@@JimHowDigsDirt Beautiful land where you work. One of my favorite places in the world is NS, Canada. Met my wife there in 1982.
Awesome job! Love the camera angles 👍🏼
Thanks BBerry! 👍 Glad you enjoyed it!
Been waiting all winter for this!
Thanks for waiting around, we have been waiting for snow to make these videos lol! Be sure to check back for more videos!
@@JimHowDigsDirt oh I will be!
Hey quick question, do you share your truck with other drivers or just a certain driver? Wondering if your assigned or jump around to different trucks?? 👍
There are two people assigned to each truck for 12 hour shifts, 7 days a week for 17 weeks on call. I have a new partner this year
i would perfer the last camera angle for your snow plow ride along so i can see the snow coming off the plow and i love the mack truck
I love the Mack too! I have had some other people make the same request, so I think I will try to put one together soon. Thanks for the comment.
5:28 needs to learn how to convert from cm to inches 3-4inches haha them tires have some massive tread depth.
Lol, hey man, gimme a break...lol..I was tired! It was a long day! ha ha! Cheers and thanks for the comment!
There are 2.54 cm in an inch
Nice intro, what do you guys actually use for sand it looke a lot more coarse
We use rock salt on pavement and sand on double chip seal and gravel roads.
well, all I can say is....snow at last! Hallelujah, snow at last! Dirt is fun, but the flying flakes are better...
Snow is fun when you have a lot to play with...and a lot cleaner than dirt! lol!
If ur gunna float the heal. You have to float the toe aswell. ?
This truck has a power float on it, I just hit the button and it does the rest.
Good! 👌
Thanks Angel! 😄 Happy New Year to you and your family my friend!
You make 360 degre now whit your cameras!?
Good job!
Yes I do! It is a GoPro Max, the best GoPro I ever had!
Is this Nova Scotia
Yes, Pictou County, NS!
I plow out of Brookfield Nova Scotia
Great video 📸
Glad you liked it
first comment. sure is interesting to see how technology has advanced salt spreading and plowing
Computers are everywhere! Thanks for the comment!
29th actually, a bit off there eh?
Miles per hour or kilometers per hour Jim?
We use kilometers here in Canada Phillip! Metric has been here since 1970 but some people still refer to imperial measure.
Threw me off when you said inches of snow but your speedometer said 50...
Yeah, I bet it did Phillip! We Canadians are still a little mixed when it comes to metric and imperial. Slow learners I guess, lol.
@@JimHowDigsDirt you're a funny guy. Good videos by the way. Always interesting to see others drive professionally.
Does the brine really work?
Yes, I find it helpful. It makes a load of salt go a lot farther.
What you think about plowing a automatic ?
I didn't think I would like it at first, but after a few weeks of getting used to it I love it! I find it's a lot less fatigue when working long shifts! Even the wife loves it because I'm not as cranky when I get home, lol. Thanks for asking!

Nice work! I'm from Nova Scotia
Hey, thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Nice video
Thanks! Appreciate it!
JIM WHEN YOU GOING TO PUT UP ANOTHER PLOWING
Jim when you going to put up a
Another plowing video
Sorry we aren't getting a lot of snow this winter. We will probably get a bunch in March if it's like other years.
Cool angles
Friggin push button... thats badass lol
No room for a shifter lol!
We've had some pretty mild winters the last few years, one of these storms we're going to get clobbered.
Yeah, we usually get one or two big blasts later in the season. It has been a pretty mild winter here as well. Thanks for watching
Has to be an automatic . No room for a shift lever.
You're right there Jim! It's actually a 12 speed manual with an automatic clutch Thanks for the comment!
