    Cool. I brought one of these after passing my test in 89. It’s been my bike ever since. Prob the only one left in London, UK. Unrestored but still a handsome beast to my eyes. Tom

    This was great to watch. I loved your commentary, and was impressed by how you always had your customer in mind as you proceeded to the end of the project.

    Great bike, my brother has a 1958, in the process of restoration. He's owned it 25 years and has been removing incorrect parts all along. A new garage is in the near future, then work will progress. Thank you for giving me an opportunity to see this beautiful Duo Glide, they don't come any prettier!

    What a beautiful machine! I noticed the Half Shell Raw Bar sticker @ 2:45 and 6:00 in the video. Been there with my bride many times. It's the first place we go when we travel to Key West, then on to the Green Parrot.

    Hopefully the owner bought the bike at the right price. Not too much actual 1958 stuff left on that machine but your shop did a super nice job on the build.

    Nice looking bike, but I'm surprised you didn't pull the motor and transmission apart to check them.

    Wow this is a gorgeous bike! All it needs is a pic of Elvis, Chuck Berry, Marylyn Monroe pin up on the tank. Lol or I guess just wear a t-shirt. Damn I was born too late. Must’ve been awesome cruising on such a beautiful machine back then with great music playing on the jukeboxes at the burger joints or ice house.

    I am lucky enough to own a 2015 Fatboy that has been painted in 58 turquoise and white to a glide paint the previous owner to me spent thousands on it get it as close as possible to the original 58 model is a pleasure to ride very comfortable.

    I love the comment "doesn't leak now, but that won't last long" - I remember working on my old PanHeads (a '55 and a '59) to stop leaks. I could get the leaks stopped..... for a few miles anyway {g}. AND - I liked to see him straddling the bike to kickstart. I don't understand the new method of standing on the right side to kickstart. Good job -

    I love those two-tone paint schemes that were popular on bikes & cars back in the 50's and 60's & I'm guessing H-D used nitrocellulose lacquer back then.

    Sir the picture you showed of the black buddy seat.Do you sell them or where can a person get one? I just love the old vintage extra large seats with the rail around them.Simply beautiful. You folks KNOCKED it out of the park on this bike.You should be very proud of your craftsmanship.

    What colors ?
    Birch white and Hollywood green ?

    • @chopperdesign
      @chopperdesign  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Birch white but I'm not sure of the green. It is a color match to the early Shriner bikes and the title called for green. The 58 Duo Glide at the Harley museum is the same color.

    it's supposed to have 5 fins on the heads below the spark plug hole. 58 - 62 had 5 fin heads. everything before and after had 4 fins. great harley though.

    have you fitted the leg up system for handicap bikers to any older swing arm harley's yet ? or the hardtail harley's ? i'll need one some day when i find an old harley. you guys are amazing, thanks

      evo's are cheaper than any original condition or totally restored bike from 37 to 65 anyhow. but just in case it would be nice to know we can ride them too if we came across one. they're all great but i'm 65 and old school. my last three bikes were a 62, a 74 and back to the 62 then i broke my back in 78 and traded for a wheelchair. i feel 26 inside still. maybe give it a try for shits and giggles if you get a chance. you guys are great.

    Was A tank shift accurate for that year I thought everything after 52 was foot shift

    • @chopperdesign
      @chopperdesign  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not sure, but since it had a Suicide Shifter on it (spring loaded clutch and frame mounted shifter) we felt the tank shifter was the best choice. Thanks!

  • @kennethsnider3456
    @kennethsnider3456 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Sorry Bro, but you lost me when you said you were getting rid of the suicide shift.

    • @chopperdesign
      @chopperdesign  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A suicide shift has a foot clutch the is spring loaded... Foot on, clutch disengaged. lift your foot, full clutch. Cops used to use this as they sat behind the billboard on the highway... Rev up, foot off, wheel spins and off you go! This bike has a tank shifter and a rocker clutch... Heel down clutch disengaged and it will stay there. Toe the front of the rocker and you are engaging the clutch... The saying 'Toe to go!' comes from this. With this setup, you can be in gear with both feet on the ground. with the 'Suicide' clutch you can't. Lesson over!
