Just about to buy a convertible carseat and overwhelmed by the options. This helps so much! Thank you!

I’ve purchased for convenience features in the past without considering my car or circumstances (I’ve started carpooling with other kids sooner than I thought I would and the seats I bought don’t adjust quickly or reinstall easily in my car). Got the car seat buying kit and now I’m thinking about it all together much better!

I used to do that too! I'm glad you were able to get the car seat buying kit this time!

Washable cover is really important for us. All the messes a child makes even when not allowed to eat while driving.

My husband and I don’t agree about what’s the most important! I think it should be flame retardant free (which seems to increase cost) and he says that doesn’t matter. I guess we’ll see who “wins” this choice by the time our first baby comes in a few months!! 😂

This helps me greatly. We want a safe seat, one with longer rear facing capabilities and one that will last for another kid.

Thanks for the helpful video. I neee to find a seat that can clean up easily (farm family), is slimmer so I can fit multiple children in line down the road and that is somewhat cost effective. My needs aside, can I ask which car seat you chose for your child?

this is exactly why we made the car seat buying kits, so all of the specific factors for your kid, car, lifestyle, features desired, etc can be considered. I would do the same with my situation when choosing a seat so what i may choose could be different than the the top choices best for you.

Hi, genius. Most of us buy car seat before baby is born, so we can pick them up from the hospital. How are you going to evaluate all these details before baby is even out of mommy belly?

Hello! There are different stages of car seats and this video is speaking in general, not specifically about infant seats. Most infant seats will fit in most vehicles; they are fairly universal. Some are more compact than others, and some fit preemies better. We have an Infant Buying Kit to help parents go through all the available car seat features and find what is most important to them. The next stage of seat is the convertibles. Most of them don't fit newborns well. But for the people who prefer to use those from birth, we note in the Convertible Buying Kit which seats can fit newborns well. Most people would start looking at these seats when their baby is 6 months+, and they would know their percentiles. There are other kinds of seats as well, forward-facing harnessed seats and boosters, but those would not be suitable for a newborn, of course. This video is a basic overview of what to consider when buying a seat.
