    I have to say, what I love about your videos is that even when you are discussing something I know, I still get something out of it. I took my first car seat course after I got a nanny job that required driving, and I realized I didn't know anything about car seats. The course was great and the CPST instructor was amazingly brilliant, but you can only share so much in 45 minutes. While I learned so much, there is so much I feel I can still learn. Every week I watch your videos to continue growing my knowledge. What I noticed is that even when it's something I already know, I still learn something new. If you ever want to come do a car seat speech in Alaska, that would be wonderful.

    This video is so helpful!!! I’m such a visual learner so when I read things online it’s hard for me to compare it to my baby! This was amazing!

    I switched my son from his infant seat early (7 months) because I wanted a revolving seat - and my expecting friend could use the infant seat, which helped me justify buying the new seat haha

    But it’s not about having one inch above when fully extending the headrest if the straps are then above the shoulders right? The baby still has to have the straps at an appropriate level (below shoulders) so even if the headrest is not fully extended they could still outgrow it if there is less than one inch between top of head and top of headrest ?

      The harness has to be at or below the shoulders as well. It's certainly possible to outgrow it earlier if you can't get a headrest position where the harness is at/below the shoulders and the child also has at least 1" above their heads

    Decided to get a convertible seat for my daughtwr, my boys will be here soon so we just bought her a new seat and an additional chicco seat since her seat was in great condition still.

    Add me to the list of not knowing that my headrest adjusted and that we can adjust the headrests higher for my twins

    So, just to be clear if their legs are long in the car seat that doesn’t really matter to much? It’s more about making sure the child’s head doesn’t go past the height if the headrest ?
    I was thinking of converting my 9m son to a convertible car seat since his feet are starting to hang over the edge if the infant car seat

    • @safeintheseat
      @safeintheseat  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It does not matter at all, in fact! Legs being too long is never a way that a car seat is outgrown. You just look at the child's height, weight, or head height to determine when the seat is outgrown.

    Add me to the list. Just today i was getting my 17 month old son ready in the car seat and was looking at him like you are getting to big for this. And yep he is a little over 32" now in height. So now im shopping for new car seats for both vehicles, my Jeep Wrangler is out primary vehicle we go in and even now with the infant seat my seat is at the most upright and far forward I can tolerate, worried i might not be able to find a rear facing one rhat fits in the jeep ok. Becuse we brought the stroller car seat combo this also means new stroller time. He walks a lot now but still gets tired when out for a while. Thanks for the video. If anyone reaches out with seats that work great with the limited space in jeep wranglers let me know please.

      I assume you mean you have either the Doona or DualRide currently, both of which are very big front to back. Convertible car seats will be more compact. Here is the list of the more compact options: safeintheseat.com/best-car-seats-for-small-cars/

    My baby is 8 months next week and needs a toddler car seat because he has a long torso. Also, it feels too cramped.

    Great info! We have the snugride infant car seat and I feel like my 7 month old needs the seatbelt straps higher but it’s on the tallest option in her insert pad ahead. 😩 She also wants to sit more up, and the infant car seat forces her to lay back more. Would these be factors to move her to a convertible? Shes about 29 inches tall standing, and 18ish lbs. Her head is also about an inch and some change from the top. 🫠

      Im im a similar situation! 28 inches, 19lbs. Commenting to bump your comment. One thing I noticed is the “head rest” on my snugride 35 lite seems to not go up or down, it just velcros to the back in one spot.

      Graco's head inserts can be removed. But if she only has slightly more than an inch above her head, it's time to start looking for a convertible car seat!

      You can remove the head insert
