Let’s be honest here, we got like 2 years till the pandemic is over and not because of the virus, but because of politics and how countries decide when it’s over.
The original one was the most deadly as we weren't prepared for it. The vaccine is effective against it. Then again, for everything upto delta, a hot bath or shower is effective against it. Omicron is a different beast. Time will tell...
And yeah, I honestly thought the pandemic will only last like a few months (thinking about 2 or 3 you know) but from what I've observed so far, it's a never ending catastrophe.
Yeah but rarely anyone stays home anymore (I’m still quarantining bc I care about stopping the virus) and I wish they would. Then the virus would stop.
9th grade - the last grade of elementary school in my country. We were all fighting to better our grades and to spend as much time as we can with our friends. The first news of the virus were from china, nothing crazy I thought, no way it would come this far. A few weeks later, we were going on an early spring break because of covid19 - we were all so happy we got more vacation days, however we didn't realise the last day when we would see eachother in our classroom already passed. The 'spring break' quicky turned into 'online school', and that quickly turned into graduating. We didn't have a prom, but we at least organised a get-together instead. It's funny, because I've been planning to confess to my crush on prom for 2 years😂
@@jasiumater no 😂 maybe the universe was trying to tell me something by cancelling prom. Ironically, 3 years later I still have that same crush. Woe is me

My dad comforted me the other day by saying “I believe it will get better. The world goes through chaos every once in a while. It will get better because when everyone wants things to get better, it will get better.”
Yeah, these weeks have been so chaotic we end up losing hope.. however we must remember that rainbows come after the rain and that, sooner or later, this shall pass too.
You know, “delay and vaccinate” may be the best approach, but there’s a critical detail it turns out somehow we can’t skip over. People might just not vaccinate. By choice. It’s freely available and well proven. But they just won’t
@@michaeldaley4777 Many countries also delayed locking down and other measures far too long. COVID(not yet known) popped up in China in Nov 2019. Governments 100% knew about it by Jan, yet many didn't shut down and close off until March or April, which was too late :/
Atleast not in US where the protests have increased chances of spread and if a country like US doesn't squash it down then we are in doom for a longer time but I see a ray of hope. I just wish I don't.die to depression through this pandemic. Good day!

“And if we take inspiration from the successes and lessons from the failures, we can keep the next potential pandemic so contained that our children’s children won’t even know its name.” what a beautiful way to end this video.
Next time we might even use the thousand year old tradition of stopping infected people from even leaving China with it. Funny how WHO told us to keep the borders open, almost like they wanted it to spread.
If your old enough to remember SARS, it came from Hong Kong China. And because they suffered that, they are now prepared. Compared to other parts of China, USA, and other places, Hong Kong is doing very well due to experience and being prepared from SARS.
I remember my mom telling me that its probably a good idea to take everything out of my locker just incase. The next day, when we were at my school for conferences they announced that wed be online for two weeks. I'm so thankful for my teachers and family. Good luck to everyone out there and I hope we all learn from this horrible experience
I’m writing this with tears running out of my eyes. I can’t take it anymore. Tue virus needs to end otherwise we’ll be left with no humanity and no compassion due to the restrictions and isolation that we’re forced to do constantly in order to keep control of all its variants. My heart goes to whoever lost a special and loved one. My dream is the pandemic to be over.
I bet when Americans make a movie about this, they're gonna crown their people so so heavily, to the point where people forgot that the U.S took up 1/3 the number of infected cases at the time.
We know how much worse things are here than in other countries. We're being held hostage by the idiots in our federal/state governments and everyone with a brain is pissed about it. We're so jealous of countries like Korea, New Zealand, etc. that managed to contain the virus much earlier on.
I remember in the spring of 2020, I was sitting in my morning foods class in high school and our teacher told us that there was a possibility that we would have an extra 2 weeks of spring break because of the corona virus. I also remember hearing about the corona virus in my bio 11 class, but I didn't think much of it as a big deal. And then 2 weeks into spring break the school announced we had an extra 2 weeks because of the virus and fast forward. Man... the pandemic has changed a lot of things. What a dreadful experience.
Same, I was happy like "woooo 2 free weeks without school" then it became another week... And another week.. And another month. Then I end up missing hanging out with my friends and missing going to store and malls
It’s crazy how everyone remembers where they were when they first learned about Covid. This has really been such a traumatic experience for the world and I wish we could see it as opportunity to unite rather than to tear eachother apart and argue
Developed world government isn't helping either. If only all vaccines were available worldwide but alas the greed.see how Pfizer treated Argentina when they asked for vaccine.
Answer: 1) When every vulnerable person has died. 2) When *everyone* is vaccinated. 3) If *_THE WHOLE WORLD_* works together to not interact for a month.
lol if you are vaccinated you are safe no reason to be concerned for those that arent. However, there is bigger chance that those vaccinated will infect those who havnt been. You stay home to be safe.

Idk what to do and where to start.
yes, but equally if the first world countries those travelers were flying to had actually taken some responsibility for managing the virus, it could have been wiped out without the need for underdeveloped countries to be trying to cope with it. They weren't getting infected travelers into their countries until well into the virus! Also, when those countries did get the virus, it was very easy for neighbouring first world countries to support them into full eradication very quickly & easily. See FIji, Timor Lester & Papua New Guinea as examples, along with Vanuatu getting aid for a major hurricane from infected countries, who managed to ensure no virus entry while doing so
That's assuming we were able to isolate it early enough. The problem with COVID-19 as was with SARS, it appears on the surface as mostly a flu, and that's IF you show symptoms. Therefore, by the time we realize these diseases exist, an asymptomatic person may have already flown around the globe infecting people without knowing. It definitely would have helped a lot to ground every airplane as soon as we found out, but chances are the major hubs of transportation would already have been compromised.
@@christodang What we've found in Australia, with where we're at currently, managing this in the middle of winter/flu season, is that we just have to treat EVERY case of flu/cold as covid. We test them all, but early on of course that wasn't practical, but the main management we're using isn't so much the testing, but rather EVERYONE with a sniffle must stay home & everyone that's "healthy" must stay 1.5 metres apart. If they're not staying that distance apart, we have to assume transmission could have occurred. We also limit indoor spaces to no more than 1 person per 4 square metres to keep viral loads below transmission rates in enclosed spaces. The difference without testing is 14 days at home with any cold/flu, whereas with testing they only need to stay home until symptoms are gone. They MUST stay home with symptoms even if tested negative, because it's the only way to reduce colds/flus in the community so we can identify covid cases more easily. Those at the BLM protest have had it made clear to them there's no judgement & please get tested, but as a secondary precaution, they are also being advised as to how to use the 14 day quarantine if they get sick & don't want anyone to know, so we can still stop any spread from that without testing. It is possible Also, for reference, we're currently finding only 3% of those entering the country with some level of cold/flu symptoms actually have covid as the cause of them, so yeh certainly a challenge in terms of separating out, or managing the virus from other cases. Everyone that enters this country currently does 14 days in a quarantine centre, regardless of symptoms. Early on, we assessed hundreds of people with symptoms to find all 15 cases of the virus. In January, we were able to limit this assessing & hospitalising in isolation of anyone with symptoms to only those with a history of coming from Wuhan, or coming from China & having had contact with someone from Wuhan before arriving. Within the country now, we've eradicated in all but 1 state, the final state seeing a second wave right now, with around 20 new cases a day! We've tightened restrictions as a result, if we had no testing available, we would need to ring quarantine the entire area where the cases are (all of metro Melbourne, so around 5 million people). This was what we did at the start too, to contain it, we closed all state borders, so it couldn't travel beyond the state with the International airport it entered at (states did this as a result of a major screw up where 3300 passengers from an infected cruise ship were released into the community & flown to every state & territory). It is possible to contain, just hard work & educating & engaging the entire community is critical. In some ways we were lucky to have had the major fires in play at the same time as the start of this, as everyone was already engaged in taking that responsibility for their health & the health & safety of the community & as the fires eased, we could just pivot that attention straight into the virus & just retain the engagement rather than needing to build it from scratch. People were already looking to the government to save their lives through education & community co-operation & that's what we used for the virus too. Vietnam did the same, just really really strong messaging & community engagement & treating all symptoms as the virus & making it a civic duty to report them & isolate. It's doable :)
I literally had an ad before this telling me that the virus cannot live in my body if I stay calm. Thanks TH-cam for promoting blatent lies and dangerous mentalities.

It's never going to be over, SARS COVID 2 is here for the rest of our lives and we will all get it eventually. The best we can do is get vaccinated and get the booster so we are ready to face the virus when we get it. Doing masks and distancing at this point is pointless, there is really no reason to slow the spread anymore when a vaccine is readily available and we have treatments available to treat people (monoclonal antibodies, Merck's Pill, ect). If we keep threatening over cases we are NEVER getting out of this

The COVID-19 pandemic has far reaching consequences than just being a simple health issue. If the first five months of 2020 have taught us anything, this pandemic has controlled the world's economy, education, security, infrastructure, and even morality. When this pandemic is finally over, we will all look back and rethink our actions and decisions and ask if they were all worth then and would they be worth after.
Large societal changes typically occur after these kinds of events. Whatever the world looks like after this, it likely won't be the same as before. Any looking back could be for a feeling of nostalgia. Maybe today's society will be robust enough to endure years of this until a vaccine is widely available. But if history is any guide, then I doubt it.
You forgot the word "SHOULD" 'If the first five months of 2020 SHOULD have taught us anything...' 'we SHOULD all look back...' If you are this sure that humans will be this cognizant, aware, conscientious and responsible, I only have one question for you: have you met any humans?
I'm watching in 2022, and the it's still on, resurgence yet after the vaccine, it seems like it's never gonna end and I'm loosing some of the best years of my life to it, and my potential.
After the pandemic, I hope the first video they make about it, it shows the intro guy removing the mask and smiling, signifying the end of the pandemic, I really hope they do this
It’s sooo annoying that some people are selfish. Instead of wearing a mask, social distancing and staying home, they don’t wear any masks and throw parties just because they’re young and the virus won’t harm them. They’re so selfish that they don’t realize that if they get the virus, they can spread it and potentially harm people that the virus can harm. Those selfish people are basically killing other people.
The worst part is that those 'some' are partly made of celebrities that have.a lot of young children watching on, such as Elli*na, Walm*y and her friends.
To be honest, this is quite disappointing. I don't understand why people are shocked. Oh noooo!!! I need to wear a mask for my safety and the safety of others! Oooooh nooooo!!! The PTSD is hitting me!!! This is actually funny and disappointing at the same time

If everyone really did stay home during quarantine, then we would be over this thing in a month or so. There were A LOT of people who sneaked outside just to visit friends or partying. Its been 9 months, pandemic is going stronger than ever.. People will never learn... EDIT After 5 months : High rates of suicide due to lockdown releated depression/poverty and lack of exercise from lockdowns has made me rethink about it and I think more than one year seems to be a very long time to keep lockdowns going. I love how naive you are to think.. 1. Schools will even still exist as they do in 50 years lol, they won’t. AI will teach, and there’s arguments made that exams wont even be a thing. 2. TH-cam will still be around when they’d be lucky to still have another 10 years of relevance left the way they’re eating themselves from the inside. Seriously tho, kids will learn about Covid yes but not in class rooms and not for exams 😂
I would be sad if school was still the same in 50 years because to be fair it hasn't changed much in the past 150 or more years. Sure we have advanced technology and stuff, but we stick 20 or more kids in a classroom and expect them to all have the same interests and pace of learning.
I've come to the conclusion at our current point that this is going to just become like how the flu is for us today, just another illness we deal with year after year, we will eventually get used to this and eventually things will stop seeming as important and dire and eventually people won't know a world without covid, just as we haven't known a world without the flu.
Well, yes and no. You're correct that the almost certain outcome of all this will be yearly covid strains, similar to the flu. But whether those strains are as varied or dangerous as the flu is yet to be seen.
@@TheFinalChapters .....I never said anything about how it would compare in terms to the flu virus itself. However since you are going there, it probably will be as varied as the flu considering we get a new variant every few months

We should also look at Taiwan, it’s basically a model example of what everyone should do. Like many countries it learned its lesson from SARS and was able to contain the infection, use social distancing and masks. Now everything is ok while mask use is still in place as businesses and restaurants still work.
This video would be a great kickstarter for a classroom discussion now that we are where we are with Covid. A reflection discussion could be initiated, talking about which approach was/is being taken, and maybe even a debate exercise on whether students think the pandemic is over or not.
And this is why we shouldn’t open up too fast. My area needs to watch this. Edit: Jeez, I didn’t mean “don’t open up”. I meant be cautious about it. When we do open up, do it very slowly and if the cases spike again, then wait. Unfortunately though, now’s not the time to open up yet. I know the economy is suffering and it’s unfortunate that people are losing their jobs, but overwhelming the hospitals will just cause many more lives to be lost. What’s more important to you guys? Losing more lives or jobs and the economy faltering? The jobs and economy does hit hard, but losing so many people is bad enough, they can’t be replaced. The economy can wait, and the jobs will come around again. It’s showing that we can’t survive only with capitalism alone. It creates the drive people need to work, but we need mercy for those who need it. I know “people will abuse it”, yes, a few will. That’s just like when people exploit loopholes with taxes and stuff. Not everyone will do it and it will help people, ESPECIALLY in times like this. Overall, I mean we just need to be very careful whenever we do open up because we don’t know if/when it’ll spike again because it’s extremely risky. And yes, we can’t quarantine forever, but right now we need to for the sake of others and THAT’S my point. Sorry if the entire paragraph seems like too much, but it was necessary to try and get my point across 😅
I don’t really know. On the one hand, the virus could re-emerge, but in the other, people are out of the job and being kept in their homes. It’s a the worst kind of catch 22.

And yeah, I honestly thought the pandemic will only last like a few months (thinking about 2 or 3 you know) but from what I've observed so far, it's a never ending catastrophe.
To end this pandemic we must all get together

The first news of the virus were from china, nothing crazy I thought, no way it would come this far. A few weeks later, we were going on an early spring break because of covid19 - we were all so happy we got more vacation days, however we didn't realise the last day when we would see eachother in our classroom already passed. The 'spring break' quicky turned into 'online school', and that quickly turned into graduating. We didn't have a prom, but we at least organised a get-together instead. A little bit of subtle fear-mongering and social programming for you
So basically, if we would’ve canceled international flights when the pandemic just started, a lot of vulnerable countries wouldn’t have been affected
There's still travel without airplanes, but it would certainly have been less of a problem
yes, but equally if the first world countries those travelers were flying to had actually taken some responsibility for managing the virus, it could have been wiped out without the need for underdeveloped countries to be trying to cope with it.
It is possible
Also, for reference, we're currently finding only 3% of those entering the country with some level of cold/flu symptoms actually have covid as the cause of them, so yeh certainly a challenge in terms of separating out, or managing the virus from other cases.
Take a look back to the 1917 pandemic. The lack of plane flights would have had minimal effect in the long term.

If the first five months of 2020 have taught us anything, this pandemic has controlled the world's economy, education, security, infrastructure, and even morality. Large societal changes typically occur after these kinds of events. Whatever the world looks like after this, it likely won't be the same as before.
"Some"... or rather too many... 🙄
@@annadang5811 Yeah
and even if they get the virus, they have money. :(
Humanity. "Humanity".
The worst part is that those 'some' are partly made of celebrities that have.a lot of young children watching on, such as Elli*na, Walm*y and her friends.
This pandemic is longer than expected and its still shocking to me to have to experience a pandemic
To be honest, this is quite disappointing. I don't understand why people are shocked.
Oh noooo!!! I need to wear a mask for my safety and the safety of others! Oooooh nooooo!!! The PTSD is hitting me!!!

@@rinaldskalvis5071 loneliness, isolation, and not being able to do the activities you want to do and be with the people you would’ve otherwise wanted to do were tough for many. It’s not just the anti-science people who were devastated by the pandemic -- it was everyone, especially if you lost a loved one.
To be honest this isnt a pandemic, the death rate is less than 1% and most dead are very old or people with other chronic diseases. The media is on a scare tactic rampage when in reality its not that bad.
@@DaLeezu Oxford Languages defines pandemic as "(of a disease) prevalent over a whole country or the world." COVID-19 fits based on that definition. But based on whether it affected whichever percentage of the population, I'm not sure as to the statistics -- though if every single medical organization has labelled it a pandemic instead of an epidemic, I would say that it is probably specifically a pandemic.

You can never get everyone to do the same thing at once, so at this point lockdowns do more harm than good.
yeah and us ''responsible people have to suffer cause of someone else
With the amount of cases before this spike. It wouldn’t be over but we would be in a better place

yes but remember what the video said just because we all quarantine doesn't mean it will go away
It won’t really go away it would just slow it. You just have to get exposed or vaccinated which is also an exposure in a sense.
The fact that this video was posted almost 2 years ago is just shocking. Hopefully in the near future Covid-19 won’t be so serious.

one day i’m going to go on twitter and see “WHO certifies a COVID vaccine, pandemic to be over soon” i’ll cry of joy for real.
edit: just to clarify, i never said it would happen soon. also the virus does not have to be fully eradicated for a pandemic to be over, there just needs to be adequate control over it.
Who certifies it?

Ahh! @@edwinamazona5474 The world is lucky if it is still here after 50 years.

The perfect time to ship your religion... Also, many worse pandemics have happened in the past.
@@AllyGFresh It's also probably going to have a yearly "COVID shot". Vaccinating once a year to get an extra layer of protection against mutations.

Exactly!
We should also look at Taiwan, it’s basically a model example of what everyone should do. Like many countries it learned its lesson from SARS and was able to contain the infection, use social distancing and masks. Now everything is ok while mask use is still in place as businesses and restaurants still work.
and if the WHO wasn't corrupt to it's core the lessons of taiwan might be widely implemented and we wouldn't have this crisis to begin with.
😂😂😂
@@mustafaal-ghezi1757 Why now blame the WHO? It's not like they didn't give out advice, most countries just chose to not listen
@@nieselregen420 The advice was too late and too ill informed. They also ignored whatever Taiwan suggested because Taiwan isnt part of WHO
This video would be a great kickstarter for a classroom discussion now that we are where we are with Covid.
