As someone who experienced nerve damage after a broken ankle which caused numbness, I can say it’s really scary not being able to feel ANYTHING in my foot.
I’ve had severe migraine before to the point that I needed to get my brain scanned because it resembled a stroke. One half of my body went numb and I had aphasia which means I couldn’t speak properly. It is rlly freaky to lose feeling. I can move my body but I have to look at it to confirm movement because I really couldn’t feel it move. And walking was a nightmare. People don’t know how much we depend on our sense of touch to walk in a balanced way. Depending on eyesight alone is really tough and downright impossible as someone with a migraine whose eyesight was also affected. I was not aware of how we walk because we just usually depend on our sense of touch.
It is quite common to experience numbness in feet when sitting uncomfortably for a long time. I think everyone has had this experience of not knowing when the feet touches the ground and not knowing how much force to apply to stand erect (when experiencing numbness).

So cool. By the way, I have difficulty communicating because I had a stroke in Broca’s area, the part of the brain that controls speech. 2/8/2021 but I lived again. (My wife helped me compose this.)
I had a mild stroke 9 years ago and for a couple of weeks I lost all feeling on the left side of my body. I could still move and walk but like the video describes, I had to watch my left hand to know what it was doing. If I picked something up, I didn't know how tightly I was gripping it so if I stopped watching it, I would drop things. Luckily my feeling came back. A man in my stroke recovery group never got his feeling back on one side and he accidentally burned his 'unfeeling' hand really badly on a grill. he didn't feel it but eventually noticed the smell of his burning hair and looked down.
Thank you for his video !! this will be very useful to teach people about losing the sense of touch. Sometimes, I asked my friends which sense would they pick if they have to sacrifice one, and I'm often surprised that some people choices the sense of touch as an easy answer for this question.

Once, I've slept on my right arm for so long that I couldn't feel it for more than 2 minutes! It was the scariest sensation ever, I knew I was moving my arm, but my brain couldn't understand what was happening and how I was doing that 😅. I have super rare nerve damage closely related to MS (in my case signals to the muscles are fine, but limited data comes up back up). Walking is hard, because I can't feel the floor.
