People going crazy because they had to quarantine and get vaccines for almost a year? How weak of a society do we have? I wonder what people in war torn countries did when they had to hide from the enemy for years and listen to bombs and gun fire around the clock? Yet we can’t do what’s right for society and make small sacrifices during a pandemic? Weak minded is all I can say!
I don't. I believe these people's bad mental health was the results of getting involved in beliefs that exposed their underlying mental propensity to accept things that most people simply would reject.
I’m a writer and appreciated time alone to write and read. Also I lost weight because I cooked a lot, learning ethnic cuisines. But for most people it was anything from uncomfortable to devastating.
@@samjam2376 The seeds of poor mental health were sewn long before this. How can a person help?
The way I see it -- you can't help. They probably feel somewhat the same about your beliefs. Everyone has to live their own lives. All any of us can do is let them know they are loved by us and that we will be there to give support in time of need. Unconditional love.
I would like to hear about the population's various responses to Covid. I observed a lot of the same scared responses that people had after the 9/11 attack.
I’m certainly no vax denier I had 3 but the third made me very I’ll and I still caught and basis of the third vax I’m not having any more. I was healthy and happy not now whether it’s the jabs or Covid don’t know but no more jabs. One thing that the whole thing revealed to me was how much money the drug companies and others made and left me increasingly skeptical about the medical profession and drug companies. Never again will I just take prescription pills without asking the doctor about how much they get for pushing them and research how much the drug companies make.
Just a reminder, I'm not diagnosing anybody in this video; only speculating on what might have happened on a couple of cheap kon-tiki knock-offs like this.
A good teacher teaches these things via modeling for the most part, this is my opinion. It's hard to make a 'curriculum' for these specific objectives.
I am totally over being on the sea. I took one cruise in January 2019 from north of the Arctic Circle down through the Norwegian fjords in hopes of seeing the Northern Lights. Being stuck on a boat and following the ship's itinerary is the last thing I would ever do again. So confining. Never again. More importantly, when the pandemic hit, I got much closer to God. Jesus I place my trust in Thee!🙏🙏🙏 My prayer life was nurtured and became deeper. Actually a very beautiful time for me.

I have a loved one with very similar behaviors and beliefs… he believes basically everything the people in this video believed about COVID, and I would say his beliefs consume his life and thoughts. His family member has a severe psychotic disorder. I assumed he couldn’t have one because he doesn’t have hallucinations. Symptoms like this are actually a disorder?
We can all go mad but each will go mad in a different way. We do not become someone we are not. Rather we become more of who we already are but to a dysfunctional degree. The suspicious person becomes paranoid. The moody person becomes depressed. The nervous person develops anxiety. Stress magnifies and concentrates our personality aspects as an adaptive response to the environment, dysfunctional though that adaptation may be. The example of the chemistry student buying into a conspiracy theory demonstrates that a lack of eduction alone does not explain conspiracy theorising. I see conspiracy theories as like collective dreaming, a sort of concrete thinking like psychotic people display. Conspiracy theories can be interpreted as literally wrong but metaphorically correct, just like a dream can be interpreted. A dream of people slinging mud at you is not literally true but other people damaging your character or reputation will feel like it. Education in logical thinking or in science will not cure a feeling of a loss of autonomy or power in regards to one's life circumstances. In that circumstance all education will achieve is a better formulated conspiracy theory, eloquently expressed.
It's very sad what happen to Isaac and Shukree. Hard to imagine that an intelligent scientifically minded individual could get sucked into a cult. Is there any chance they were murdered? Didn't jump in on their own free will? They were running low on water right? Who's to say the captain didn't point a gun at them and tell them to jump?
Just amazing that they were actually going to an island for a new life. In the past, gurus would do things like stay in a monastery. The whole trip sounded risking from the beginning.
Can brief psychotic disorder be reoccurring? For example its severe aspects last only a month & then stabilizes back to complete normal within 2mo, but happens every few years? (This is what’s happened to my sibling - 3x in a pattern of ‘mania w/psychosis’ about every 3/4 years & always in fall). So far it’s been diagnosed as BP1, but her very long “normal” periods without depression (or mania) make me question.
I would like you to do a segment about how anti-vaxxers and others who made vaccines a political issue and ignored the science impacted people who are paranoid and/or delusional. Thank you.
My first born is vaccine injured, to the point he’s disabled now, I’d never get any of my other kids vaccinated, I’d be crazy to. No ones banning vaccines for people who want them, but people need to stop trying to force people like me to get them.
Sorry I realised in editing I deleted a point - not only did I catch Covid after the third jab but passed it on. Having listened to numerous politicians including Joe Biden and medical “experts” say if you are jabbed you won’t get it or pass it on I realised they knew about as much as I did !!!!
covid vaccines don’t prevent infection they decrease severity if you are infected and can decrease the likely of transmission. lots of misinfo out there
Sounds like they ran low on supplies and Michael either threw them overboard, attacked them, or asked them to swim around and look for land and then abandoned them. Why would anyone form theories based on his word? He's definitely a liar. I can't understand this interpretation just believing all this b.s from one man that left so long after the other crew that he lost them, and onethat didnt even try to save them. Oh, but i guess the boys just both lost their minds at the same exact time in the same exact way.

I was wondering about that closed port thing.. It seems like the Captains should have made their own contingency plans and been aware of port closings. Especially considering the plague. It certainly seems to lend credence to an overpowered overbearing power run amuck. Those islands are so out there, it must have been expected that there would be a rush to escape certain death, like thousands of people. Who wouldn't want to spend their last days in a tropical paradise? Perhaps, someday, Dr Grande could do an analysis of Jim Jones in his final days. This story reminds me of it. Tragedy.🎭⛵

Thank you so much, Dr. Grande. Your videos are so well-researched, thoughtful, and detailed (not to mention always unhurried, interesting, and poignant). Also, I always learn something new. Whether it is something about firearms or something about boats (I now know what tacking is, for example) I enjoy gaining bits of knowledge while also being entertained! It makes watching the videos even better. I watch all of the videos and look forward to them, even though I don't always have the time to express my appreciation in the comments. So, today I say Bravo and Thank-You, as well as Happy Holidays, Dr. G! And to all of you here: Enjoy the rest of 2022! 🥳 🎉
so many people are into woo woo. there are a LOT of people out there who just want to believe in something, and if someone is good at telling people what they want to hear they can take advantage of them to a terrifying degree.
We appreciate Dr Grande for staying consistent. Seems like we are receiving crucial information every time he posts.
😊 yes!
Consistent but varied! (Shirts, studios, backgrounds, shorts!). Now all we need is puppies! 🐾🐾
I love this channel . It’s delicious to see a dry humoured American.
One of your best analyses. I’ve observed a comparable situation myself. Your observation about just how many people are teetering between mental health and mental illness has the ring of truth.
We've all been beat over the head with it, until I'm surprised there aren't more people loosing their minds.
Dr. Grande, Please give us your opinion on the Balenciaga scandal. I thought it could of been someone trying to Sabotage the company but now I don't think so.
The most insightful and consistent channel on TH-cam
Hug me I'm vaccinated. 🤣🤣 Omg, I just about spit out my coffee on that one.
It's not a joke. There really are pins that say that.
I love Dr Grande. Soothing voice and accurate info! Let's not forget the dry humor too 😂💯

Wow imagine posting about Jesus and the totalitarian government..... These are crucial issues Grande.
Sitting in a warm chair with a blanket! And this is Arizona! Hope all are having a great holiday season! Thank you Dr. Grande for our daily video of quality! 🎆✨🎇
Hi. I'm in AZ too 😊It is chilly here but still better than snow & ice haha!🌵⚘🫖🏜⛄❄Have a great holiday too⭐🌲💚🎆🎁🎈
Hi Zena - It is snowing here! (near Prescott) 🏔🌨❄⛄
@@bthomson Howdy...oooh that's where u are. Cold there for sure 🌵⛄I'm in Phoenix. Partly sunny, 56 here😊⛅

@@scarlettphoenix7024 Hello fellow Phoenician. I have Xmas lights on, a fire sounds nice💥👋
Love you Dr. Grande.......❤️
Totalitarian government? I think that could be an unanticipated side effect of begging the government to act as your parents.
Could you please talk about how to help relatives with persistent delusions? I have family that believe whatever the latest religious trend, and it seems like the more dramatic the better. They are obsessed with "end times" and I am concerned for their safety. Logic only seems to make them dig in their heels, so I quit trying to convince them of anything and gave had to avoid them.

These guys seem pretty sane to me
Just don't go on boats or wilderness trips then.
They were probably thrown overboard instead of jumping. Those are my thoughts.
That’s what I was thinking.
No living witnesses
Thank you for this episode, it was both informative and very interesting.
Just a reminder, I'm not diagnosing anybody in this video; only speculating on what might have happened on a couple of cheap kon-tiki knock-offs like this.

I think emotional intelligence and critical thinking should be thought in schools. It is as important as math.
A good teacher teaches these things via modeling for the most part, this is my opinion. It's hard to make a 'curriculum' for these specific objectives.
The guy wasn't completely off on the waxx issues. People lost jobs and been called antivaxxers because they declined experimental jabs.
They weren't experimental.
Me as well.
Totally. Forget that shik.
The northern lights aren't that impressive usually. Then there's the cold. You never see them unless it's at least -20°F.
@@chuckrobinson599 Auroras are seen in "warmer" weather too. I've seen it at -5C in Lapland this winter. Imo it's better to be on land than a boat though. Comfier.
Great job Dr G, also the dry humor was awesome !
You are my fav. Cult leader!🌹😮🌹🌹🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🎄
Thank you Dr Grande for the great content you upload. It never fails to make my day.
Prison Break has also changed my life. Great show but they really shoulda stopped somewhere in S3 🥴
Awesome commentary about covid 19 ❤
He became a spiritual guru, that one took me out. I am laughing so hard
This stuff actually happened? Just mind boggling. Seriously. 🙄😒They lost their life over some real dumb shit.
Great video. FYI, Mortified means to be ashamed or humiliated, not surprised or scared.
What this story taught me is just how hard it would be for a normal person to feature on Dr. Grande's presentations by faking it.
How many people live right on the edge between functional thinking and disaster. What a scary thought..
“Numerology is associated with New Age beliefs-and a lack of critical thinking skills.” ;-)
Big ups grande daddy
I have a loved one with very similar behaviors and beliefs… he believes basically everything the people in this video believed about COVID, and I would say his beliefs consume his life and thoughts. His family member has a severe psychotic disorder. I assumed he couldn’t have one because he doesn’t have hallucinations. Symptoms like this are actually a disorder?
They should of named their boat

Anyone who has a scientific mind should have been skeptical about the new covid 19 vaccines
I would appreciate a video about your interest in cactuses. I have always noted the cacti including the motifs of cacti.🌵🧐
Nice new room setting and great analysis as always👌😊
I was thoroughly entertained.
Lost on a voyage with no destiny.
Thank you for the interesting case analysis. I really enjoy your videos. Thanks doc thanks doc.
I dub thee, Dr. Todd Grande, as TH-cam Channel of the Year for 2022.
Just curious... are you diagnosing anyone in this video? 😃
Dr. Grande almost did but not quite!
No, just speculating. ;-)
I would like you to do a segment about how anti-vaxxers and others who made vaccines a political issue and ignored the science impacted people who are paranoid and/or delusional. Thank you.
I really hope you are watching the news, as the so called anti- vax people have been RIGHT the whole time.
My first born is vaccine injured, to the point he’s disabled now, I’d never get any of my other kids vaccinated, I’d be crazy to. No ones banning vaccines for people who want them, but people need to stop trying to force people like me to get them.
@@Black_Samurai-fish I’m so sorry to hear this. 🙏❤️🙏
Love the "dry" humor, sorry to the survivors
I'm surprised this scheme went wrong cos people who have tattoos on their forehead are usually great at life decisions 🙃
I get it man, I straight lossed my marbles at this time as well lol.
Sorry I realised in editing I deleted a point - not only did I catch Covid after the third jab but passed it on. Having listened to numerous politicians including Joe Biden and medical “experts” say if you are jabbed you won’t get it or pass it on I realised they knew about as much as I did !!!!
covid vaccines don’t prevent infection they decrease severity if you are infected and can decrease the likely of transmission. lots of misinfo out there
your anti-covid debunking videos always get my like
Are there pro Covid people out there?
Sounds like they ran low on supplies and Michael either threw them overboard, attacked them, or asked them to swim around and look for land and then abandoned them. Why would anyone form theories based on his word? He's definitely a liar. I can't understand this interpretation just believing all this b.s from one man that left so long after the other crew that he lost them, and onethat didnt even try to save them. Oh, but i guess the boys just both lost their minds at the same exact time in the same exact way.
Damn, human beings are simply mind-boggling. There never is a shortage of interesting, complex and perplexing stories about just ordinary people. Really fascinating.
Thanks, Doc
Wow… my grandparents lived in GR for 20 years so I know my way around the area. I had no idea about this case…
6:07 there's nothing fun about torturing and murdering animals.
Tragedy.🎭⛵
Poor men. They were victims of their own mental health, world events, and a reckless guru.
Hey i live just outside GR. we’ve got a handful of pretty crazy murder/crime stories.. that one with the guy who killed a girl and got into a police chase with her headless body in the trunk. They finally got him stopped just after the S curve downtown (curvy raised highway road at the center of downtown ) i was working downtown at one of the fancy hotels and saw the cop cars lining the curve completely shutting it down at the heart of rush hour. i think he shot himself at the end?
Hello Dr. Grande, thank you for another fascinating topic. I did encounter friends that had all kinds of ideas about Covid-19 related to a government conspiracy which I chose not to argue or discuss seeing that they had their mind set on what they believed. But it is somewhat sad to hear your story and how far it can bring someone to serious consequences. Thank You for the hard work you do to bring these topics to us. Best Regards.
