People going crazy because they had to quarantine and get vaccines for almost a year? How weak of a society do we have? I wonder what people in war torn countries did when they had to hide from the enemy for years and listen to bombs and gun fire around the clock? Yet we can’t do what’s right for society and make small sacrifices during a pandemic? Weak minded is all I can say!

    • @samjam2376

I don't. I believe these people's bad mental health was the results of getting involved in beliefs that exposed their underlying mental propensity to accept things that most people simply would reject.

@@samjam2376 The seeds of poor mental health were sewn long before this. Millennials and Gen Z in an overwhelming majority do not even have a loose idea of what a functional family even looks like let alone given the opportunity to experience one. They were predominantly raised in chaos and uncertainty when at home and programmed with someone else’s agenda while at school. They never had the opportunity to establish any semblance of “self” they only know how to conform. The only certainty they have known is a pervasive atmosphere of fear. The current poor mental health epidemic is like a roller coaster that just crested over for the big drop. It’s going to get way, way worse.

And the only people who 'get all inspired' (usually embarrassingly so) to suddenly go off the deep end and chase a cause are the ones who HAVE no sense of purpose, to begin with. In short...they're bored, and big, exciting causes with radical components are their only means of excitement. I know; I've seen it up close and personal. It's one, bad trap to fall into. It has devastating consequences, for anyone and everyone within their influence.

I’m glad that I did not hear about these gurus who had these conspiracy theories, because I have my own and I am fortunate that I got off of social media around the onset of the pandemic. I advise anyone who has depression and finds themselves looking at social media very often to consider deleting it from their phone and just existing in the regular world. It will greatly improve your stress and anxiety and depression symptoms. Just have real people in your life, not virtual people on these networks. Not saying they aren’t real people, mind you. But the quantity of information funneled at you will only heighten your stress and anxiety. Just try it. Go a week or a month, and see how you feel.

It shed a light on the dismal state of mental health in the Western world. If your mind is not healthy, your life can't be. I have had ptsd since age 5, and due to decades of therepy coped quite well with the pandemic. But that is nobly becuase I had survived much worse and had the tools to keep my mental health in check. Most of my friends did not. And would often call me for advice. Mental health is health. And we need to start taking it seriously as a society. It is often willfully ignored and mocked.

The way I see it -- you can't help. They probably feel somewhat the same about your beliefs. Everyone has to live their own lives. All any of us can do is let them know they are loved by us and that we will be there to give support in time of need. Unconditional love.

I’m certainly no vax denier I had 3 but the third made me very I’ll and I still caught and basis of the third vax I’m not having any more. I was healthy and happy not now whether it’s the jabs or Covid don’t know but no more jabs. One thing that the whole thing revealed to me was how much money the drug companies and others made and left me increasingly skeptical about the medical profession and drug companies. Never again will I just take prescription pills without asking the doctor about how much they get for pushing them and research how much the drug companies make.

I am totally over being on the sea. I took one cruise in January 2019 from north of the Arctic Circle down through the Norwegian fjords in hopes of seeing the Northern Lights. Being stuck on a boat and following the ship's itinerary is the last thing I would ever do again. So confining. Never again.
More importantly, when the pandemic hit, I got much closer to God. Jesus I place my trust in Thee!🙏🙏🙏 My prayer life was nurtured and became deeper. Actually a very beautiful time for me.

We can all go mad but each will go mad in a different way. We do not become someone we are not. Rather we become more of who we already are but to a dysfunctional degree. The suspicious person becomes paranoid. The moody person becomes depressed. The nervous person develops anxiety. Stress magnifies and concentrates our personality aspects as an adaptive response to the environment, dysfunctional though that adaptation may be.
The example of the chemistry student buying into a conspiracy theory demonstrates that a lack of eduction alone does not explain conspiracy theorising. I see conspiracy theories as like collective dreaming, a sort of concrete thinking like psychotic people display. Conspiracy theories can be interpreted as literally wrong but metaphorically correct, just like a dream can be interpreted. A dream of people slinging mud at you is not literally true but other people damaging your character or reputation will feel like it. Education in logical thinking or in science will not cure a feeling of a loss of autonomy or power in regards to one's life circumstances. In that circumstance all education will achieve is a better formulated conspiracy theory, eloquently expressed.

Can brief psychotic disorder be reoccurring? For example its severe aspects last only a month & then stabilizes back to complete normal within 2mo, but happens every few years?
(This is what’s happened to my sibling - 3x in a pattern of ‘mania w/psychosis’ about every 3/4 years & always in fall). So far it’s been diagnosed as BP1, but her very long “normal” periods without depression (or mania) make me question.

Why would anyone form theories based on his word? He's definitely a liar. I can't understand this interpretation just believing all this b.s from one man that left so long after the other crew that he lost them, and onethat didnt even try to save them. Oh, but i guess the boys just both lost their minds at the same exact time in the same exact way.

I was wondering about that closed port thing.. It seems like the Captains should have made their own contingency plans and been aware of port closings. Especially considering the plague. It certainly seems to lend credence to an overpowered overbearing power run amuck. Those islands are so out there, it must have been expected that there would be a rush to escape certain death, like thousands of people. Who wouldn't want to spend their last days in a tropical paradise?
Perhaps, someday, Dr Grande could do an analysis of Jim Jones in his final days. This story reminds me of it. Tragedy.🎭⛵

They finally got him stopped just after the S curve downtown (curvy raised highway road at the center of downtown ) i was working downtown at one of the fancy hotels and saw the cop cars lining the curve completely shutting it down at the heart of rush hour. i think he shot himself at the end?

I did encounter friends that had all kinds of ideas about Covid-19 related to a government conspiracy which I chose not to argue or discuss seeing that they had their mind set on what they believed. But it is somewhat sad to hear your story and how far it can bring someone to serious consequences. Thank You for the hard work you do to bring these topics to us. Best Regards.
