Don't forget the most important part: is coupled with GREAT ANSWERS to all the questions and mysteries... that not only satify all your doubts (and then even some more you didn't even know you had), but gives amazing rewatchability to the show, imo not matched by any other show nor movie. As I'm re-watching this with you, it's honestly insane how many clues there are as to what's going on. So many scenes reveal so much directly that I can't believe I didn't catch it the first time.
It's also amazing (to me at least) how the mangaka obfuscated so much. Made everything multi-interpretable enough to make it so hard to come up with a solid theory.
It happened the same to me when I rewatched it. This is definitely a show to be watched at least a second time because the subtleties throughout all of it are insane and it hit you way too differently
There were two things I was super exited for in this episode 1. To see their reaction to the dinosaurs in the OP 2. To se their reaction to Jurassic Big Foot Titan talk. Still grinning from ear to ear.

Great reaction. RIP Section Commander Mike Zacharias (in anime, Miche Zacharius), Commander Erwin's right-hand man. If you remember the first season and the OVAs, you will realize that it was Mike who pushed Levi into the mud before he agreed to join the Scouts and who, along with Levi, tried to discover who the Female Titan was when the Scouts managed to capture her in the forest of giant trees. He was also the one who accompanied Eren, along with Hange, on his way from his underground cell to court, during which he sniffed at Eren (apparently he manages to identify any person or being that approaches him thanks to his outstanding sense of smell). PS: I highly recommend that you react to the second (A Sudden Visitor: The Torturous Curse of the Adolescence) and third (Distress) OVAs.
This is fun. Reiner asking Bertolt if the wall indeed has been breached seemed like such a unnecessary dialog. But they were just as confused as the others, likely assuming that Marley might've reached the island.
There are definitely quite a few "unnecessary" scenes in this show, but Reiner's line here seems fine to me because he was definitely in his "Soldier" split personality mode at that moment.
Btw do you know that "Melina" means "scum pub" or "the pub for scums" in most of slavic languages? Her name is Milena, lol German languages (like English, Sweedish or... Well, German's) pronounce the letters in a very weird way
I hate when people say "Hur dur DOn'T WaTCh InTRos AnD OUtrOS". If something isn't meant to be seen, the creators woudn't put them in the freaking intros and outros. All that those type of people are doing is making the reactors lose the chance of enjoying the intros and outros, and even making reactions of them

Season 1 was super hype in the way that shonen anime are hyped, but Season 2 added so much more depth to the show which made me fully invested. The show went from a simple human v titans to a really much more complex conflict.

They hadn't forgotten about the Basement plan. Starting from the 16th series, they tried to get to him, but a Female Titan appeared and caused great damage to the scouts. Big issue with the Survey Corps reaching the basement in Shiganshina (Eren, Mikasa, and Armin's hometown) is distance & huge numbers of Titans between Walls Maria and Rose. Most of their expeditions at this point have focused on building supply stations that can support a long-distance expedition to retake Wall Maria & Shiganshina. Every time they go beyond wall Rose, they encounter Titans & take huge casualties. Unless they counter this by killing more titans & building supply bases, the Survey Corps is doomed to either fail to reach wall Maria or won't make it back should they find any useful information in the basement.
Season 2 is just amazing. The way a new threat appears making the characters divide and showing protagonism of characters that we thought were secondary, to then regroup and deal with the revelations of shifters while introducing new questions... *Chef Kiss*
