I did a 3D/2N Ha Long/Lan Ha Bay cruise in November '22. I was UNDERwhelmed. We were also accompanied everywhere by 17 or 18 other similarly-sized or larger vessels and, probably due to oppressive afternoon heat, everyone did activities at the same time (and, yes, Tai Chi at 05:30 wasn't attractive to me either!) As a result, kayaking, beach, village visits were about as entertaining as sitting in rush hour traffic on a Los Angeles freeway. And, "cruise?" Misnomer! I'd estimate we were actually underway for less than 30 minutes for the entire three-day duration. Boats only move when picking up or dropping off passengers, then drop anchor and sit. And, finally, trash. You must've been there during a favorable tide as we had people refusing to swim due to the massive amounts of floating detritus. In sum, terribly over-touristed and very, very "trappy!" Maybe Bai Tu Bay is quieter, but I won't bother finding out. PRICE: $490 single/$770 couple (USD)
hi me and my partner are looking at doing a 2 night, 3 day cruise at lan ha bay in june and wondering if its going to be worth it or if its all just a bit weird and ruined by tourism. we're both early 30s and from Aus too. Did your cruise include alcohol? Was it super expensive to drink on the boat?
Hi! Lan ha bay was definitely a lot quieter than ha long bay so we didn’t really feel there was too many people, that being said it is a cruise with very set activities that everyone is doing so up to you weather that’s your thing or not. Everything on the boat was suppper expensive (compared to normal Vietnam prices) it didn’t include drinks just food. We paid like $4 aud for a bottle of water which is a lot in Vietnam. It was really beautiful and I’m glad we did it but it really depends what kind of experiences you enjoy.

Yeah I definitely agree it is very expensive for what almost feels like a theme park more than an actual experience in nature
