Same setup on a 900 series which we tried to tackle today and kept trying to loosen things so we had more room to pull the old part out. Thanks for showing me that you just have to pull it out sideways! I was trying to get enough clearance to pull it straight down. Tomorrow will require much less cussing and throwing of tools.
Have a 1964 Ford Industrial 2000 with the same setup. After watching this I'm going to try changing the shutoff the same way. Less time consuming. Thanks. Great encouragement
Old school is about all I can work on 😅 I know this showed a LOT and was kinda slow but I figured if someone was searching how to do this... they needed that.
I removed the 4 bracket bolts that hold the tank and also removed the plate that covers the muffler the I had plenty of room to lift the tank up at least 5 inches from top of valve cover
I have a big aluminum disk inside the tank. The fuel is half an inch deep around it. Is this supposed to be there? Is it clogged or something? I appreciate your vids man!
Mine has raised fuel pickup point where there can be gas, but the tractor will ne "out of fuel. I'd drain the tank of you only have 1/2 inch of fuel and rinse with some fuel... good time to clean it out
I had to pull my valve cover to swap the fuel shutoff valve. Waiting to see if you need to. As another person said, that is supposed to be a solid steel line from the valve to the sediment bowl and there isn't supposed to be an online filter as that is what the sediment bowl is for.
I have a 640 and will probably change out the fuel shut off on it as well. Yours looks like someone jerry rigged the line, the hard line should go from the shut off valve to the carburetor without any rubber hose. Mine was also jerry rigged with about a 3 inch rubber hose at the carb end connected to the hard line. I buy my Ford tractor parts from Dennis Carpenter, Just8ns, Yesterday's Tractors or Steiners.
I would have skun my knuckles to H working in that tight space.Your Cuz is slender and can maneuver it.Odd they would use different size bolts eh.That was tedious Peace from MN
I'm wondering if someone lost an original bolt and put something else back 🤔 not sure on something this old buuut we got it knocked out. Peace from NC brother ☮️
Those Shut off are a once a year repair in my book, Can't get OEM stuff and everything else is 100% chinese shit as far as I'm Concerned, getting ready to go do one my self but I am going with a different "O" ring than they provide. Probably have to do it again next fall, 2 twist on the valve will provide all the fuel that thing will eat!!
I agree! I rebuilt mine, drilled out the rivet and put in a new o ring, lasted about 6-7 months!! A guy told me to use an hnbr o ring for aauto air conditioning, the green ones. said his is still working great after 2 yrs!!

Glad to inspire someone!
@lazypondfarm
Grow up little boy and stop spewing immature disgusting filth on a public forum! How pathetic.
Good morning Kevin, and that’s why I love Ford looks like it was an easy repair. Stay blessed !!
Mornin Karl! It wasn't bad. Showed it in detail to help anyone that might SEARCH how to do it. Stayed blessed brother!
Thank you to you and Austin for showing us how to change out the fuel shut off. Great instructions and accompanying music. Have a blessed week!
Thank you Roberta! I hope your week is fantastic! 😁
@@lazypondfarm Thank you, Sweetie!
Just did this on a 1955 naa 850. Exactly the same. So glad for success.
Got to love thos old things you can still work on them yourself
Exactly!!! I'm not even gonna try to work on something past the 90s lol other than breaks and oil 😅
good job Kevin and Austin!!!! love tractor videos!!!
I hope we didn't "over explain" Figured anyone looking up how to do it would NEED to see the whole process.
Nice. I always thought this required removing the tank (which I have done). Thank you.
Nice to know you can do that without taking the tank off. I have a 800 series and I took the tank off got it back together and it leaked shortly.
Oh no!
Flathead screws are my nemesis. Good stuff. It’ll be good for another thousand hours 🍺🍺
I hate em too! That's the hopes of me going through replacing parts 1 by 1... it should be good as long as I run it!
Going to tackle this on a 861 powermaster. Looks the same to me!
Good job Guys! Don't just love the tight spots!
It was tight for sure! But we didn't want to pull the tank so we made it work!
Fun watch guys! Half the reason I still have a Gravely, I can replace parts on my own without being a rocket scientist. Lol old school cool

Good video. I am thinking that if you pulled valve cover this would be lots easier and you could adjust the valves which is good practice.
Yeah, you are probably right. Maybe the next video will be for a valve adjustment 🤔
Can you pull the valve cover without pulling the fuel tank?
AWESOME Channel and video.. thx for sharing
Thank you!

@@lazypondfarm yup, exactly what I was trying to avoid… tank removal. Oh well, do it right or don’t do it! Thanks man!

We did not
May find it easier to remove the valve cover, lets it drop right out. Just a suggestion. Hope this helps!
My 600 I had to take the bumper off losing the hood, tilt the hood forward . My trouble is the o-ring. 🚜🚜🚜
To get the o-ring to "hold" in position you can put a dab of Vaseline in the groove. 😉
Gotta love an old tractor! Almost makes you sexy. Wait. It's the RL Hoodie!
Lest see you do it that easy with a solid steel line to the carb. Someone has changed the bolts on one of yours.
Mine had a hard line all the way, it was terrible to line up!!
Dude! Where were the latex gloves to protect your pretty hands?!?
Gloves? Only wussies wear gloves 😒
It's easier if you remove the valve cover. (It'll roll out over the valve-rack.)

Yea I know it should be hardliners, so many are modified. Good luck on your 640
Ty'all ☕👍
How ya doin brother!?!
@@lazypondfarm pretty good. Reminds me of my papaw's tractor, identical. Memories bro🙋 y'all have a blessed day

oh man.... perfect place for a ratcheting wrench
I know! Would have made things a bit easier

Strange that nobody asked why you call those bolts 7/16 and 3/8 as head sizes are not thread size and are not always the same
Get speed wrenches next time you all
Lol yes sir! Not everyone has speed wrenches/gear wrenches. On a how to vid its good to show with basic tools for anyone trying to follow along.
gotta wear somethin' ;-)
Especially for greasy mechanics work 😅🤣🤣🤣
I had to do the same thing to my ford 800. wow what a poor design!!! barely any room to work!!
I don`t think it was a big issue until the moon shine in the gas
