  • It was my birthday, so I decided to use the rallying cry of my born day to summon my friends to Hawk Hill for a downhill bike bomb session / music video shoot. I wrote Gold Country around the banjo part, the whole thing was very inspired by California, so it made sense that the music video should contain some amazing California people, downhill biking the single best road I know of.
The road down the back side of Hawk HIll is a one-way road that starts within view of the Golden Gate Bridge and snakes its way high through the headlands, giving you the opportunity to soar high above the glittering Pacific.
I highly suggest everyone try it once.
If not, this video might be the second best thing.
    Enjoy :)

I'm commenting again, because this song deserves more praise and definitely a load more views. The beauty of this song lies in its consistent simplicity and moments of subtle tonal movements. The banjo is not overbearing at all, but moves with the track only when it is needed, an embellishment rather than the central focus. The synth motif starting at 2:00 is genius and mesmerizing, and 2:30 to the end just takes the cake. These melodies here are some of the standards that I held you by when I listened to your newest work - everything you are talented at is all right here. Your choice of putting a majority of the foreground melodies on the off-beats is unexpected and makes this track instantly addictive. It's easy to follow, and embraces the quality that you are genius at executing - a stunning control over a set of gently blended atmospheric synths. Well done - this is one of your finest to date, and I always come back to it!

Spectacular ride! Really love this song. Am I hearing sitar, or is it a banjo? I'm totally downloading this one from your soundcloud. Thanks for making it available! Very cool.
