    Thank you so much. Absolutely brilliant. Our 2013 Fiesta was silent apart from one click when we turned the key but now starts after following your video! I had no knowledge of car mechanics or what a starter motor looked like but I have a socket set so thought I’d have a go. Apart from a bit of discomfort on a cold damp day, some scary sparks when the wrench touched the large bolt while turning the nuts and fear about being right under a jacked up car (even with bricks in case the it gave way) it was straight forward to do. Well worth the effort. Liz

    Hi - this happened with my 2017 Ford Focus. Too cold to do it myself so I took it to a garage and told them that a friend had this problem and fixed it this way. They were very dubious but said that if I wanted to take the risk ......Anyway they did it your way - it cost me £45 - I've had no problem with it since with at least a 100 starts. Thanks - you saved me a starter motor! Al

      no problem so many just replace the starter motor for a bad connection, mines been fine since so it definitely wasn't the starter motor on mine.

    Helpful thanks - solved my issue. On a Mk7 Fiesta you can access the starter motor easily enough without removing the undertray. Note that one of the connections is directly to a permanent live so first disconnect the battery before attempting this.

    Slightly different for my 2013 focus. The nut was loose and rung. Wouldn't tighten or come off. Had to cut the nut off with an oscillating saw. New nut, nice and tight, starts on a dime now.

    I've got a 2008 Fiesta, and recently fitted a new battery after one morning it wouldn't. start at all. All good for a few days, but now it's doing something it's done before I replaced the battery, which is when starting the car in the morning, the engine turns, but then for a split second it goes dead. Then it starts. Radio and lights stay on all the time. Would this be my issues as well ?

  • @deet5072
    @deet5072 ปีที่แล้ว

    Seems straight forward to clean, albeit pain to replace. Quick question. Was your problem intermittant before you resolved it? sometimes works, sometimes doesnt unless you process a seemingly random set of push to start clutch and brake depresses? Trying to work out if corrosion would make it intermittant.
    I get the click which i expect is the solenoid firing but im getting two DTCs
    P06E9 : 00-2E - obviously related to the starter but is not necessarily the cause, it just means that the starter was told to start and the engine didnt start.
    and
    U045A : 00-08 "Invalid Data Received From Parking Assist Control Module A" : "Steering Control Module"
    That second one one only appears alongside this issue but i do need to see if its present before i do the button push jig.

    • @MADMODS
      @MADMODS  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it was intermittent for weeks cold mornings or damp or wet days. After this fix it never did it again. the steering module only powers up when the cars running or at least the power steering so could be related.

    I've had the same problem. The point I want to make is that if you turn the ignition on and off a few times until it starts, the next time you go to start it, it starts the first time anyway. So what you did doesn't really prove anything, because it undoubtedly does work sometimes, but on another vehicle, it could easily be something else. I'm still going through alternatives.

    • @MADMODS

      this problem happened lots on my focus and after some research I came to the conclusion this was the problem made the video and a week later finished the video as the problem was fixed I owned the car for another year after and never had any issues starting the car again.
      it takes minutes to do so why not rule it out and do it anyway? you know this is a common issue with the ford's starter motors.

  • @bongoking5850
    @bongoking5850 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great vid mate 👍 I think mine has gone.. it will start eventually after a few mins of trying (we have stopped using it now before we make it worse) the starter motor was changed a week ago and straight away we had this new problem of turning the key and nothing happening.. after we did start it and run it a while it would start first time most of the time, we assume it was heated up so worked better. There is a loose sounding metal rattle when it shut off as well- which was what stopped us using it. Do you think this is the problem?

      Don’t know if you ever fixed it but if not, it’s your evap purge valve needs replacing. You can get the part from autozone for like 40$, along with some heat shrink. Takes about 5 minutes to cut the old one out with a utility knife and heat shrink the new one into its place

    Sometimes the car clicks like the starter motor is gone however it could be the battery might of lost charge so test the battery first by putting on then wipers, heaters, indicators. You’ll know if it’s the battery. Chuck some jump leads on and it should charge the battery while driving.
    I know this cos it happened to me the other morning.

    Hello, If anyone can help me I would be so grateful. So I have a Ford Fiesta from 2019 - 3c cilinders, MK8 and it has been a nightmare since I've bought it... now tha thing myght be the engine..I don't have a clue, the car have days that won't start, it seems like a car with 30 or more years :( it won't start either it's cold or hot, it's not everyday that happens but still I'm afraid to be paying for a car that could just leave me somewhere on the streets... he is still in warranty but only until September...he's at the dealership right now but they are preparing to tell me "we are not finding anything, and the machine won't tell us anything either"..the thing is, the car showed an error on the computer board one of these days saying " alternative energy activated and then the solution that comes in Ford's book is "you started the ignition without starting the engine"...does anyone knows what this is really about? Sorry for my english I am portuguese..and bless you all for helping me. Thank you, I'm desperate.
