His themes and endless phrases are so complex they are hard to memorize. This 1904 masterpiece of Russian Romanticism sounds as French as imperial Russia. A concerto fit for a tsar. Beautiful delicate and tasteful performance by someone who really knows this composer, the most misunderstood and underrated of “The Five.”
Since I am also a concert violinist I always say “I can do better” But, in this case everything is just right. Balance of music, phrasing, and flawless technique. Bravo! This is the best. We met a long time ago in Buffalo NY. I played Clem Harrison’s wedding(founder of the “Stradivarius Society “). You did a master class at Klienhans Music Hall.
Outro génio do violino! Equilíbrio, som dos mais refinados! Articulação fantastica! Fraseio fenomenalmente bem conseguido! Fora isto, e ainda e melhor!
Wow, he really owns this piece, lovely! I was interested to read that he plays on a Strad that was Leopold Auer's, and in my own copy of the solo part for this the fingerings are by Auer. And hats off to the orchestra, not heard them before but they are also superb.
I have noticed that most of the leading violinist play mostly in adagio. Hilary Hahn plays allegro. Her fingers dance over the strings. I would by a ticket to see Vadim Gluzman on a moments notice. Excellent musicians are hard to see.
The viola section at 8.12 is worth a visit. Meanwhile a fine Russian violinist plays Glazunov. This concerto is the very definition of lyrical violin writing.
I greatly prefer Hahn. Her playing keeps me interested and curious every step of the way. Gluzman often makes my attention wander. To each their own. 🙂
Excelente interpretación. Bravo MTRO GLUZMAN
The best Glazunov concerto 👌

thank you Glazunov for this warm and hounting melody.
Super MAGISTRAL interpretación del Excelentísimo Violinista Vadin Guzmán .
Thank you for such inspiration, Mr. Gluzman. During the third movement, my three year old daughter said "I wish I was THAT good!"
Phenomenal performance with high precision and beautiful intonation.
I love the smiles in the 3rd mvt 😃
if the violin concerto was the only piece Glazanov ever wrote he would be remembered as a great composer along side the 3 B's.
Uma belíssima interpretação!... Grato pela postagem.
You are a phenomenal violinist, teacher and performer.

James Sandwitch going to see him preform the Brahms violin concerto tomorrow I’m so excited
I prefer Jennifer Pike over Hilary Hahn.
@@paulk8072 You have a right to as an unseasoned listener. But, she is good and much better than Anne-Sophie Mutter.
@@tufur08 I know what my ears and heart experience when I listen; I don't need an arrogant, random presumptive stranger to confirm my beliefs.
That was a pretty phenomenal performance. Such passion!
This is so stunning I love it so much!!!

J s bach!
Sounds like vampire movie music.
0:30 1 mov.
Based on technicality and accuracy, Hillary Hahn is a way better... his interpretation is stunning though.
all that matters is which one moves you. technicality should be a slave to the music.

No se trata de comparar... La nacionalidad, no se compara... Glazunov es también ruso...
Actually I think I much prefer Vadim’s lack of theatrics as compared to Hahn’s performance. He played Bach nicely, too.
I greatly prefer Hahn. Her playing keeps me interested and curious every step of the way. Gluzman often makes my attention wander.
To each their own. 🙂
bit boring isn't it?
