    Quote: "puts a smile on your face" 😊. Sure does George. Have had my 2017 for 6 years. KEEPER. Still smiling. Love it. Even 6 yrs on, still find bikers and civilians still looking at her. TKC 80s and default coating of mud catch the eye.
    TECparts is the go to for upgrades. Have already fitted your Centre Stand . Bizarre explanation re mis-reading fuel guage: nice one Triumph. Well explained George.
    Great vid. SAVED for future reference. Thanks. 🙌

    Brilliant review and loads of good info! . I'm seriously considering the Scrambler. ..it's a great looking bike but also seems to be a great all rounder. ..fun/ longer journeys / bit of gentle green laning. The de-cat your devoloping is an excellent product and I agree it would be good to shorten the overall length of the exhaust. Steve

    I was planning on taking my rear pegs off, but I like using them on the highway, especially since I have no wind screen. I like to get down low at higher speeds.

    Nice one! Can't wait for the decat kit for it - and a video of how it sounds! Presumably triumph dealers are ok with putting new maps on bikes upon request... I've already got the rear rack installed from you which is a great bit of kit so far; I'm in a similar boat to you by trying to get it set up for longer trips. Cheers.

      Hi
      From the feedback I have had Triumph dealers are installing 'updated maps 'at first service as routine.
      Make you wonder if this is a way of getting around Euro regulations!

    Hi, great video, looking forward to some of your kits like the de-cat. I really like your rear rack and grab rail but I don't see how I could mount it with panniers as I've installed the street twin SW-motech legend rack and bag which uses the same mounting points and it seems to me most pannier set ups would.
    Great stuff and going to see if my dealer will re-map now after this video. Keep up the good works guys!

    Hey George,
    Lovely video I must highlighting some important points on the bike.
    That being said, I've already picked up my Street Twin a year ago, long before the Street Scrambler was announced, and am currently in the process of trying to make it into a Scrambler. Could you help me out with something? I've searched online but can't seem to find how much longer the Scrambler front forks and rear suspension is compared to the Street Twin? I know both still have the same travel, but how much longer is it? Im wondering if it makes more sense to just swap the front forks of the Street Twin with those from the Scrambler, or whether I need to go in for a completely new setup to get the additional ground clearance.

    • @TECBikeParts
      @TECBikeParts  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      hi
      The street scrambler shocks are 10mm longer at 350mm between centers.I initially plan to use 365mm units on the rear..I am already using these on my Street twin.
      I have just had a quick look at the street scrambler forks and from a quick measure and internally they look the same as the T100 forks.
      I plan to do a video on striping the forks modifying the damper tubes,increasing travel by around 25mm,fitting new springs and emulator valves.May be a few weeks though as we are really busy at this time of year.
      You can modify the street twin forks to increase length and travel,no need to swap them.

    • @ThinBiker17
      @ThinBiker17 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ah thanks for addressing those queries George!
      And forgive my ignorance, but I'm still new to this game. You say you can increase the fork length (effectively raising ground clearance) without having to swap tonnes forks, but just my working on the internals? Wow, I never knew that! I'm sure you'll have something ready in a few weeks then! I'll surely be looking forward to that!

  • @peteg3899
    @peteg3899 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a V&H installed along with one of your DNA filters (2018 scram). I’m tempted to go for the cam too
    2 q’s: I’ve just had the triumph re-map, assume this negates the need for the booster plug? Also, notice your cam lobes don’t have a high polished finish like the OEM cams, would that have any impact in terms of longevity??

    I was hoping you would get a scrambler to customize. I ordered the rack from TEC last night and I can't wait for the suspension upgrades and CAT removal.
    If you get a chance can you pop the flat seat from your street twin on the scrambler? Triumph lists the same seat for both with the same part numbers, but says you can't have the flat seat with their rack installed. Id like to see if it still fits with your rack installed and how it looks.
    This is going to be a lot of fun.

    • @TECBikeParts
      @TECBikeParts  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi
      Yes I have tried the flat seat with the rack and it fits no problem. The only way it would not fit is if you use it with triumphs tail tidy as this mounts the indicators too high and hits the rack, but if you shim the tail tidy down it will work

    G8 review, really enjoyed it.
    I do have one question Please.
    You relocated the front pegs. You lowered them and moved them forward. My question is HOW? (we could not see in the vid) Was it easy? Did you make up brackets? Did it make a BIG difference? Did it alter the change in operation of the gear and foot brake lever?
    Regards.

    Thanks, interesting vid. One question, is that a Triumph accessory luggage rack? The Triumph website says that racks must be installed with the replacement twin seat, but it appears you've done it with the stock seat setup, is that right?

    • @georgemilburn6213
      @georgemilburn6213 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hi
      Not Triumph rack, It is our TEC rack kit. It fits straight on with the single seat and rack/pillion pad option,or the flat top dual seat option.you simply unbolt the 4 x Allen head bolts holding the tail cover and remove.Then fit the rack and replace the cover using the standard bolts.

    Interesting vid, thanks. Do you know if Triumph have changed the rear footrest mounts because the mounts on my Scrambler (April 2017) are fixed permanently and to get round the issue I have removed the footrests and installed the enhancing kit to cover the holes left by removing the footrests. The solution you present is obviously a different build run(later or earlier). Incidentally if you replace the oem exhaust system with the Vance and Hines system from the street twin inspiration kit, it’s louder coz you can remove the baffle ,(when there was no lc scrambler) two mounting brackets are left with threaded holes that look a b......d, so you can cover these by buying another Triumph enhancing kit for the footrests (£20) or do as I did and source two dome headed bolts with Torx or Allen heads which will do the same job. Unfortunately you’re still stuck with the brackets, but at least they are disguised. Cheers👍🏻🏍

  • @noordinaryjoe1414
    @noordinaryjoe1414 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi George! Can you tell me a little more about the mapping? You say that you've removed the catalytic converter and are running a map for a Vance exhaust system through the stock exhaust. This makes the bike run richer. How does that/will that affect the MOT and/or warranty for the bike? In my head, the mods you've made would mean that the bike is no longer Euro4 compliant?
    Great vids, by the way, keep 'em coming!!

    • @TECBikeParts
      @TECBikeParts  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi
      We use Triumph official maps as this will retain warranty as it is logged in the ECU and with the dealer history.
      .
      When I say a richer map this is slightly misleading, it is not like a carburetor re-jet. The mixture will always be correct as it is controlled by the exhaust sensors. The standard map will only allow a very narrow band of fuelling and ignition advance, the new map allows a wider band of adjustment and performance.
      It is not that the new map is too rich more that the standard map is too weak for efficient running.
      Here is a simple analogy .
      Think of the standard engine map as a road you have to drive staying on the centre white line and you can only go within 1 foot either side of the line, what a remap does is allow you to ride right up to the edge of the road.
      No problem with MOT as the motorcycle test does not include an emission test. thank god for brexit.
      I could go into a lot more detail but it would probably send us both to sleep.

    Hello all and TEC Bikes. I'm getting an issue with the throttle body with my 2018 Triumph Street Scrambler. Upon turning the key, then ignition on (engine off). The fuel pump primes like normal but now I seem to get a weird whirring squealing sound coming from the throttle body, specifically the black part where the servo motors are for the throttle position sensor. Anyone heard about this and if there is a fix? Cheers!

    Nice one, can't wait for the suspension upgrade. I've taken the daft plastic covers off mine and put an Ally Bash plate on - the gap between the plate and the engine is perfect for mounting two horns to replace the useless stock toy horn ;-) I have to say I don't like the sissy screen - not on a scrambler!!!
    My credit card awaits suspension news - Cheers, Titch (Dorset)

    Pretty much true. You can't ride near a hundred mph for too long. Unless it's a straight away. And even then it wears u out. Being beaten by 80 mph winds , just take it outta u. Unless you have a full fairing wind shield.

    I tried a couple of windscreens. The medium size Puig 4620H I had high hopes for, but the buffeting and noise was unbearable. The Triumph 'Tall Summer Screen' which is actually just a little bigger than the one you have, works great for me. I'm 5'11. I also think the bug antenna mirrors need to find the nearest trash compactor. I have a pair of the Bobber bar end mirrors on order, or back order, or back back order.

    nice review, I wondering about the street twin stock mapping though. On mine it seemed to be plenty rich enough (in totally stock form), unlike most other contemporary bikes that do indeed run lean,(I have also an MT07), it was herky jerky and lean until I got the ECU flashed. I saw a dyno chart or 2 on the 1200cc WCT, and they indeed run rich stock, barely even reaching STOICH. I have not been able to see any results on a Street twin, and would be curious to know they do indeed follow in kind, the 1200cc bikes.

    George, I had my dealer put a map on for a 2 into 1 exhaust, but looking at the receipt it says they put on the map for the 'Arrow' exhaust and not the 'Vance & Hines'. Does it make a difference?
