Lufthansa's €2 Billion New Cabin - Allegris A350 Flight

- I joined the inaugural flight of Lufthansa featuring new Allegris products from Munich to Vancouver. The newly delivered Airbus A350 has a completely new cabin makeover.
Lufthansa unveiled its €2.5 Billion cabin upgrade program "Allegris" last year. There are 5 different seat configurations in Business Class including Suite, Extra Long Bed, Extra Space Seat, Double seat, and standard seat. Different seat will have a different experience! The video covers all seat configurations and new features such as in-seat heating/cooling by Caynova.
Lufthansa has invited a special guest; Dirk Nowitzki, a famous basketball player to try out the 2.2m long Business Class bed.
Next, I checked out the Lufthansa new Premium Economy seat which comes with a hard shell and slides forward instead of reclining backward. The new floor-to-ceiling First Class suite is still waiting to be certified and therefore not installed onboard.
Jens Ritter; CEO of Lufthansa is onboard and gave further information about Allegris. The new product is currently flying from Munich to Vancouver and Toronto. It will be available on flights to Chicago and Montreal in the summer.

They are shit 💩! I flew 2 months ago.. from Istanbul to Frankfurt to Dallas. They were horrible.. inside the plane and at Frankfurt airport. The planes are a relic from the 90’s.
You flew 747 then, its one of the best planes in the world so not sure why you didn't like it, us aviators would kill to be on one of those! @@wolfauu

You got the beautiful east approach into YVR! The initial tower clusters were Metrotown (front) and Brentwood (back) with the shot afterwards (with the curved building near the top) being Marine Drive (front), 49th Ave (middle) and 41st ave development (back with curved building). Then some glipses of Vancouver downtown in the very back! Gorgeous mountain views and the Lufthansa 747 to cap it off!
I live near the airport and it's been a treat watching this A350 arrive and depart along with the 747 flying the summer service from Frankfurt. Great video!

Lufthansa will keep the A380 and will also renew the business class but not with a different reverse herringbone seat instead of Allegris. So don’t worry , Sam, you can continue flying Lufthansa‘s A380.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but, if I remember correctly, they will use the staggered seat configuration that can be found on their ex-Philippine Airlines A350s.
@@greyhound7148 that is still to be decided, but they will use a seat that has been already certified for the A380.

Nice to see an airline flying their newest product to my hometown YVR. Traditionally, YVR always got the oldest business class products and I have to go to LAX, JFK etc to fly newer products.

Good. An improvement from very outdated product to a less outdated product. Nice marketing spin to make the fact that the cabin has so many seat variations a selling point. I like the suites at row 2 and the throne seats (although the shoulder room of the throne seat looks very tight). The rest of the seats are pretty basic.
Individual heating and cooling control is very nice.

Flew LH FRA-YVR in 2013. The most beautiful flight in the world. Deep into Greenland, the whole Canadian White North and the Rockies. Perhaps the world's only flight that takes off and lands at the same time. Always remember that flight.

One of the things that I respect about star alliance, in general, is that the staff is just as hospitable to someone in economy as they are to a media personality sitting in business or first. All airline staff is nice when the cameras are rolling, but it is refreshing to see that the standard across star alliance is to treat every customer with a warm welcome

It's great that they installed individual temp controls. A Major complaint has always been that Lufthansa keeps their cabins too warm, and this can be sickening on a long-haul flight.

So beautiful that A350 Flight deck. I only had the honor to fly A330/340 first generation and B777 which was like Oldtimers against this. Cabin looks awesome.
As a Brit I have to say, its admirable that Lufthansa has tried so hard to please EVERYONE, which in itself is impossible. Sam has found something to complain about, compared to some airlines business class that I've travelled on, this is exceptional, the amount of room borders on first class. What this costs is more prevalent, as Sam says, you pay more for more. How much more? Seeing it all in the video, makes you wonder, where did they find all the space! Good video Sam.

Hi Sam - thanks for sharing a really cool video of the new Allegris makeover. I doubt that i will ever fly business class! I loved the views that you shared of the flight into Vancouver - it reminded me of when I was there a long time ago - I flew in from London, and then out to Frankfurt. The views of the Rockies and the Arctic region were really amazing. Just so beautiful. I thought that you might share the basketball player's experience after you landed - maybe you could post a comment? Thanks for sharing - really enjoyed it.
It is so nice to hear LH will retrofit the 747/8. So hopefully i can enjoy the Queen in future again!

The business class seats look so much better then the ones on the A380...they were outdated, horrible and a lot of them were broken during our flight.
I wish you had done some coverage of the economy seats which is where most of the travellers will be flying.

It's the birthplace of Johann Sebastian Bach.
@@dennis12dec no it isnt, that was Eisenach. Bach spent the second half of his life in Leipzig though and was the Kappelmeister there (The head of church music and music for the whole city).
I think that Mendelssohn lived in leipzig, I believe the Schumann siblings lived there too.

Vancouver will also be the first city to have LH 787-9 service this summer with the new Allegris seating replacing the 747-400 on the FRA/YVR route.
For plane watchers the iconic 747-400 will be missed.

Hi Sam, thank you for all your videos.. :) You were the reason why I went to Tahiti in February last year.. because I saw how nice it was on your trip.. I didnt plan it at all.. So if you keep doing what you do, I might follow another random beautiful places around the world.. And also I need to mention, that flying over Rockies is one of my favorite views everytime.. I live not very far from Vancouver so I am plannig to create a video from cessna or another airplane and fly the whole Frasier valley.. Good luck

Lufthansa Introducing a brand new product and somewhat managed to be already 5+ years behind. Well played.
Interesting flight report and open words as a conclusion from you. The planned surcharge for seat reservations in business class is controversial. The suite is certainly worth an extra charge - but is a single row seat by the window, for example, also worth an extra charge? That's how it's intended. In connection with the high price level at Lufthansa (and compared to Emirates, Singepore without surcharges in business class) it seems a bit excessive.
What a cool concept Sam. Thanks for bringing it to us. I hope you had an opportunity to enjoy Vancouver. I noticed that CEO identified the first Allegris flights will be to other cities here in Canada including Toronto and Montreal. Any reason for Canadian destinations being at the top of the list? 19:12 that's not quite right, the A380 won't get the new Allegris product, but it will be fitted with more modern business class seats and i think also all the other classes

I flew Premium Economy on LH's A350 D-AIXU from YYZ to MUC a few days ago. It's quite nice. The only annoying thing was the touch screen of the IFE. Quite often I had to tap twice or thrice. Because a slight movement of the finger on the screen resulted in moving the screen content. This happens often when the flight is a bit bumpy. But that's complaining on "high" level ;) I really enjoyed the flight.
