Hey Connor. Hope you have a speedy recovery. That clip that you showed of you crashing may be cringe lol. I’m glad you’re OK and it’s not any worse than what it is. You’ll feel a lot better after surgery trust me. I had a bad accident on my bike too a couple years ago and I dislocated and shattered my heel bone and I couldn’t walk for 3 months after that. Steel plating, a bunch of screws and a few months recovery and now everything is good . But now I’m healed up and I’m back riding. Thanks for taking the time to review that Bike even though you’re injured and in pain, I’m sure lol. Great review as always!!
@@bikersedge I would like to see a video of mechanical tips and tricks… I am not a good mechanic and sometimes get really frustrated when trying to work on my bike…
Rest up and heal up Conor. Shoulders and collarbone injuries are no fun but surgery should see you right. Thanks for taking the time to put a video out too. 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿 The obsession many brands have with mixed wheel sizes I'll never understand but it's good to hear the bike rides well.
It will make sense if you are on something really steep as the bike is more naturally weighted to the rear so you have to get less back behind the seat to achieve the same weight distribution. Also a tiny bit easier to change direction as less mass and centrifugal force, also lets you get your weight lower before it hits the tire.
Hope you feel better soon. I enjoy you're reviews. During this down time, perhaps you can discuss power /performance of the motors that are being offered and compare to your experience in real world. Also range that YOU are actually getting. Thank you.
I broke mine last year and now I have a metal plate and 6 or 7 screws in my shoulder. 1 step closer to a cyborg. Welcome to the team. Hope you recover soon.

I'll definitely be looking forward to seeing what off bike videos you put out in the coming weeks., but make sure you take the time you need to heal up also.
Biggest reason I sold my 5010 and nomad mullets was the traction issue. Happy to hear they are figuring this out and interested to try a mullet again with longer stays.
This is one of your best reviews. You did a great job of describing the changes and how it affects the bike. Sounds like I’d prefer a bike with a bit more anti-squat. I broke my clavicle at a bike park a few years ago, but not as bad as yours. Yikes! Get well soon.
I may need some help here. As a V4 owner....when comparing the two bikes....the V5 actually has a greater FC/RC ratio than the V4. Relative to the length of the bike the chainstays are shorter so to speak. They are only longer in absolute terms. I'm not sure how this centers the rider more....to me/math says it is a smidge less. Great review and wishing you a speedy recovery!
I'm posting a video reviewing this bike (out tomorrow). Its funny that we share the same opinions about rear ward bias (I try to avoid review & product launch videos before making my own). I slammed my bars and put a longer stem on and that unlocked its full potential. Super fun, playful bike.
Hope that you recover quickly. The intro was stunning and videos continue to impress. Very cool bike and great review. Glad the C frame still offers wired or analog shifting. For ideas of non riding. Maybe one on the store itself? A profile of why to shop there. You do an amazing job of content marketing for bikes, I wonder if you can mimic this style to advertise why buy at Bikersedge.
If you get the rod (😂🤣😂), I’d be really curious about that process, if you wouldn’t mind documenting. Thanks for taking the time to do the review while you’re all broken. God’s speed on your recovery.
Bummer on the injury, heal up quick buddy!👊🏼…I’ve found a lot of the current all-mountain bikes “front end wondery” feel is fixed by adding 10-15mm in stem length, for me a 45 or 50 is spot on, 35s just don’t put enough weight on the front. For sure terrain and riding style can influence what works for anyone else. Maybe worth a video 😉
Glad to see Santa Cruz lengthening the rear-center on mullets. It never made sense to me to make a rear-end shortened by a smaller rear wheel even shorter by shortening the chainstay. Hope you have a speedy recovery!
Oh man, I bet that hurt. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Thanks for the thorough review of the Bronson 5. Do you still plan to do a head to head comparison of the Ripley & Ripmo?

My take away from this is it’s a great bike for shorter people. At 6’4” I’m guessing the Megatower would be a better option for tall timber? Also good luck with the recovery
Great review as always! How do you think the new Bronson compares to the current Nomad? Do you think the new updates bring it closer to the DH capabilities?
A heavy casing 2.6” tire out back is what makes a mullet. Get well soon. I’m all too familiar with that precise sling. If they update the 5010 and let it fit a 2.6 I’d likely get one.
Hate they make CC frame wireless only. I usually buy bare frame and build with preferred parts. CC is almost always only option for this and I 100% have zero interest in using wireless. Means this is a no go for me. PF BBs, headset routed cables and wireless only shifting big no nos for me.
My problem with electronic shifting is I can’t remember to charge the damn batteries. I’m not against it on an industry level. Just a personal one because it doesn’t work for me. Seems silly to limit drivetrains simply because you don’t have a hole in the frame for a cable.
Hey thanks! Already back on a bike! It’s been a while since I’ve ridden a Megatower. I’d probably need to hop on one again. The suspension quality feels pretty different with the Bronson feeling a bit more well rounded overall in how the suspension reacts to bumps. The mega just rolls through stuff much easier.
Wish you all the best, know you feeling, it will be cool if you can do some video about recovery. I remember my self when being in the same situation. That was really stresy time. Don’t know what to and what to expect. Do I’m going to ride the same or bit scared? how long it take to recover to back on the bike. Now I know, shouldn’t worried at all. What does the bronson’s shifting and your collar bone both have in common?? They’re both setup wireless. Probably too soon but couldn’t resist. Heal up quick!
Santa Cruz's VPP has never offered the same small bump traction versus horst/4 bar/DW/split pivot unless they alter the anti squat signicantly but where they shine is consecutive square hits and medium bumps with a stout frame. Too bad frame only is CC and it lacks cable routing and the shoc tunnel seems just as high as the previous Bronson limiting a longer dropper despite he shock being lower not to mentioned the beefier weight. The previuos Bronson V4 was fantastic for tighter tracks and rocky descents while maintaining a sporty suspension and I see some R builds for $3400 USD. Hopefully bike manufactures will focus on using their corporate powers on more trail accessibility and friendlier prices and easier maintainence frame designs and not so much on gadgets and gizmo the average and even privateers riders don't need. And Conner, you wouldn't have washed out if it wasn't a DW link :) J/K speedy recovery.
@@bikersedge broke my left collarbone back in 2021 and didn’t have surgery. I just let the bone heal naturally. I have a big bump but i have full range of motion. I feel your pain and I hope yours heals as good so you get full range of motion again.
Thats why i wear full face, armor, thick elbow and knee shin pads. I pray for you to heal 😢 i do hope that reviewers starts practicing maximum safety rather than the bare minimum. Your health in the long run is more important than the 4 hour comfort. Believe or not, after a while, those heavy armor will feel like you're not wearing it.
Changes in geo and travel were so radical for a few years. Seems to have slowed down a bit lately with most brands making smaller refinements and changes.
Shit dude - sorry to see the crash!! Hey question, are you filming on an insta360? If so what are is your film and edit set up? My footage looks like crap!
Now that the v5 is out the Bronson v4.1 is having some crazy sales. Wondering if the v5 is really much more worth it over v4.1. Any feedback is appreciated
As someone that owned the V4 and never really got along with it, I can see this bike being a huge improvement. The suspension felt harsh with a lot of feedback through the feet on the V4. The geometry felt a little off too, and in hindsight, I think it was the shorter rear center and lower stack. I would make the leap to the V5 for sure. It's the better bike in pretty much every way.
Which size do you recommend for 6'1.2" (186cm) tall person? In size L top tube is very short 614 mm but in XL wheelbase is huge 1299 mm :/ Difficult decision.
Height shouldn’t really be the deciding factor for the bike you buy. It’s going to depends on how and where you like to ride. Go check out our what MTB should you buy video if you want more on that.

Can you do a little more of a comparison between this V5 Bronson and the V3 Ripmo?
I’d have to do some back to back riding to do that. Won’t be happening anytime soon unfortunately.
@@bikersedge Well that is understandable. Hope your surgery and recovery goes well.
@@aguyholding1024 hey thanks!
Your collarbone looks wireless in the xray.
@@spicymtbchannel it’s the new AXS.
@@bikersedge broke my left collarbone back in 2021 and didn’t have surgery. I just let the bone heal naturally. I have a big bump but i have full range of motion. I feel your pain and I hope yours heals as good so you get full range of motion again.
„Vertically challenged“ 😂😂 thank you for my newest excuse
Heal up dude!
Thank you very much!
Great review. Hate you busted up your shoulder. Heal up
Hey thanks!
I know that crash location. Same spot Eric from Ridelabs ate it last year. Heal up!
I honestly have no idea how or why I crashed there. Such a benign corner.
where are you riding at 5:32?
All of this was filmed above Alta.
@@Trade2Invest- thanks! Not sure elbow pads would have saved that one but I appreciate the concern!
Santa Cruz turning into Apple
🤣
Stumpjumper 15 showed the way.
Changes in geo and travel were so radical for a few years. Seems to have slowed down a bit lately with most brands making smaller refinements and changes.
Epic views. Where is it that place?
Northern Utah
Think we'll see a Heckler SL v2 with same frame geo updates?
@@blakemoser1682 eventually probably. Not sure when.
How do you get those epic pov footage? Cam+Lens pls
@@Cevirus93 GoPro hero 12
Wonder if a new hightower is coming soon.
🤷♂️
That rear brake hose routing is really bad between rear and front triangle
Yeah. Does seem a little exposed.
Shit dude - sorry to see the crash!!
Hey question, are you filming on an insta360? If so what are is your film and edit set up? My footage looks like crap!
@@mikepfeifer1753 thanks! I’m using a Hero 12 with Max Lens mod.
Hope you a good recovery! How do you compare it with a Hightower? Saludos from Chile
Hey thanks! The Hightower feels more pedally and serious than this. This feels softer, plusher and more playful.
@@bikersedge Man I like that V3 HT. Keep it with the awesome content 🤟
@@AndresPizarro-ey9mx will do!
Was that crash at Park City?
Legal has told me not to answer that question.
Now that the v5 is out the Bronson v4.1 is having some crazy sales. Wondering if the v5 is really much more worth it over v4.1. Any feedback is appreciated
I never got to ride the V4 so I’m not the guy to ask. Hopefully someone can help answer that one.
@@h0rstmann okay! thanks alot!
Which size do you recommend for 6'1.2" (186cm) tall person? In size L top tube is very short 614 mm but in XL wheelbase is huge 1299 mm :/ Difficult decision.
I’m 6’2” and like the XL but I’d recommend a test ride or demo.
Rest up and get better soon.
@@jonthornton8714 thanks!
How does the bronson compare to the ripmo v 3?
That’s in the video
@@bikersedgethx just saw it 😂
which santa cruz for 6 foot 3 rider ? small jumps
Height shouldn’t really be the deciding factor for the bike you buy. It’s going to depends on how and where you like to ride. Go check out our what MTB should you buy video if you want more on that.
How does it compare to Nomad v6?
Haven’t ridden that. Couldn’t say.
I ❤Alta
Same!
Bronson V5 or Transition Patrol?
Haven’t ridden a new patrol. Wouldn’t be able to tell you.
Is this at solitude?
No. It’s above Alta and Brighton.
