i will note that in theory some third party lightguns that do not cost seventy goddamn dollars will also work the same way but I don't really know which guncons don't, i can say that much
So do the time save a few times and get yourself some extra spending money? (This is meant to hark back to that joke amazon review about buying an expensive watch every year to take the family on an expensive annual holiday or whatever, you know, with the savings)
The 2004 run by Ekudeht was the first on SDA however him and an Australian runner named Tyranix ended up going head to head since the games release posting their times on Twin Galaxies forums since the idea of mailing a VHS with every update would be clearly tedious. Ekudeht's history alone could probably be a whole video
This was so perfectly fitting to your content and personality. 15 layers of background info and context on an unintended gameplay usage for comedic level benefit
One of my fav things from watching your gdq appearances and streams I've caught is how informative you are about lore and mechanics, I'd absolutely love for you to do more of these! Your dialogue is so thorough I never have any follow up questions.
Dang, only strat I've heard that's dumber, is The 'Trent's Circuit Board Strategy' for Goldeneye 007. You take a dismantled 64 controller, and during certain Goldeneye levels, press down on on the circuit board. Yes, while it's plugged into the console, and thus full of electricity. I am not kidding. It saves tens of seconds by partially freezing the game, including the in-game timer Goldeneye runs rank their runs by. But NOT the count-down on certain levels. Unlike the Silent Hill one, the Trent one is hard banned by the Goldeneye community, though. Both for fairness, and just plain safety. Goose's Gamer Folklore did a vid on it, if anybody's interested in more details.
I know this is kind if an extreme example, but it's stuff like this why I can't be a speedrunner myself. Well, that and I just haven't found a game I want to start running.
I was expecting some loop hole where if you plugged it in during a Hard File then started a different file you'd keep the green laser, but this lives up to the build up
Oh wow I was not expecting this to be what it was, but I'm glad I watched it :D Great stuff, I love little stupid things like this in speedrunning, thank you very much for making this.
Genuinely didn't think this would live up to the presumed hyperbole. My god, it surpasses it.
I just love the idea of having to scrounge up a $70 piece of hardware to save 0.02 seconds on a speedrun.

~0.2s saved..........from a ~£70 second hand light gun...........coming to a ~£350 per second saved

This comment makes my brain hurt.
"Push the inventory"
Absolute ridiculous king shit
"My God."
-My actual reaction when I heard that shit.

I love how absolutely esoteric this is. Great stuff as always Punchy.
Oh gods this was indeed the most obscure timesaving method I've ever seen

6:28 Perhaps the greatest moment in any video of all time
That is without a doubt possibly the funniest potential use of a peripheral I've ever seen.
You know that something is good when you get so entertained that you dont feel the time passing. It happened to me with this video. Thank you!
Thanks for responding to my tweet querying about the lightgun easter egg and for making the video!
That's 0.2 seconds closer to the glory ♥
Excellent. Would definitely enjoy more structured content like this.
I had absolutely no doubt when you said "Most Obscure" you were not joking in any way. Thanks for the sincerity.
this is a really cool concept for a series, but also just very fun video
I… didn’t know there was a main channel… until today.

In the moments explain this timesave, I think I mentally facepalmed and out loud said "Really"
Great explanation Punchy and good video
These kind of videos are the best, I love your niche knowledge.

Great video, loved it

Omg yes, I’d like more of this kind of content

That was more interesting then i expected
Feeding the algorithm with a comment.
Also
Absolutely wild
Ah, yes. Another random thing about a game which breaths randomness.
Great content. Very interesting
i have the lightgun
bought for 10$, but imported
still cheaper than ebay lmaoo
holy shit this is hilarious
Great video
Part of me wonders if it'd be worth it to just produce a way to spoof the controller in service of this trick...
god i love speedrunning lol
Pog
So the controller has some sort of code that the game recognizes? Or is it any light gun?
Great payoff for this
Ugh, pay to win bullshit in the speedrunning market... smh
is SH pay to win now? :(
There's a katana? Wtf
