okay I've got a great idea for a challenge run, how about a dance mat but the controls are randomized and also you're upside down so you have to do everything with your hands and also masahiro ito is there commenting on your life choices and also if you take damage he tazes you and also if it was a good+ 10 star hard run, wouldn't that be cool (seriously though, great video! wasn't there - I was probably at work or something boring - so I appreciate the breakdown. definitely more complicated than I thought it'd be)
My favourite subcategory of challenge run is ‘play on absurdly inappropriate controller’. This is up there with Dark Souls on 2 Donkey Konga Bongos and FNAF Security Breach on a Steering Wheel.
32:03 Man. I spent the whole video trying to work up a good comment about one of those fishing rod controllers. Anyway, bravo! I've been watching a lot of people play Silent Hill recently, it's nice to finally see somebody do it the way it was obviously meant to be done. Exceptional work!
I didn't know Silent Hill lets you remap all the buttons even a lot of modern console games don't let you do that so to see a ps1 game give you the option is really neat the only other ps1 game I can think of that lets you do that is pacman world.
i wonder if the aim was jumping around because the aim input was interrupted by the shoot input, and then aim would re-input causing it to try to lock on
This was a really fun video! I enjoyed it a lot, I remember all that frustration around the Splithead fight. personally i think you should complete silent hill using the ps1 controller next though
10:30 odds are the controller sends repeated inputs rather than it being a "button held down" pulse causing the game to react as to you were mashing. That or your mat's cursed
32:39 Suikoden 2 with Only One Hand...j/k (it's actually quite easy since there are redundant controls baked into the shoulder buttons; only major hiccup is recruiting Karen for all 108 stars since you have to do some memorized dance mini-game)
So when are you going to nah I'm kidding, this is a fantastic video! I love the breakdown of how challenges like these are approached (at least in terms of button mapping), as it's obvious a lot of thought goes into them.
8:44 All I heard was that when I make that Silent Hill theme park which is just a recreated version of the town with fog machines to make you the park manager. Now I just need an evil high priestess for the supernatural stuff.
shame that you won't consider any more gimmick controller runs when the PS1 had a gimmick fishing rod controller that's just begging to be used for silent hill :P
@@PunchyYT I only remember seeing Theatrhythm. Which I realized counted as a rhythm game (and that mech game had a rhythm game element to it) but I was specifically thinking of one that used the dance pad or other peripheral, as to my knowledge the other ones both played with a standard controller
i generally endeavour to have a video completed roughly once every month and a half or so and honestly I don't think I could get these out faster than that even if I didn't stream
If This isn’t too forward… how much weight do you think one could lose doing this? My friend who used to live in Japan said he used to go to the arcade and exercise on the DDR machines so I assume that this could be the outline for a very effective workout campaign?
this is a youtube quirk, there is a risk of getting demonetized if you have a swear their auto-captioning can pick up within the first minute or so but past a certain point it seems to stop caring
@@PunchyYT Kinda figured that was why. Guess YT figures kids can't focus for longer than 5 minutes, so who cares about swearing past that? (Half joking)

I've wondered for years if part of the spirit of "a bad workman blames his tools" is that a good workman doesn't show up to a job with bad tools
Finally: Silent Hill gyromancy%
Just as it was foretold
@@lt_alenko That's it,: comments of the year, both of you.
Here, take this 🥇.
21:58 Shoutout to Punchy's dad for being goated
harry locking onto two different enemies is just his quirky way of showing off his sick dance moves on the ddr mat
Man, between this and the Ring Fit run, Punchy can just turn Silent Hill into the cardio part of his workout routine.

great video! that random bit of japanese “you cannot use that here” killed me

nah, power stancing your way through every fight is a legit badass move!!!
I was there for the tail end of it and boy, it was a trip xD
"No one to sponsor this vídeo" was genius

Another great video, I watched it live but it was really nice having the breakdown regardless
Love these more edited videos, im not a big fan of watching streams but shorter edited videos are great!
Fun fact. Theres a song in DDR called Silent Hill. Its Christmas themed and has absolutely nothing to do with the game
someone should make a TAS to make into a chart for a DDR mat, then you could actually play silent hill like a dance game
My sister and I quote your videos like all the time lol and I can just hear her going “IT WAS NO CONCERN AT ALL!” 23:03
Thanks, Punchy's dad!
I bet the dance mat would be fun to pair with a G-Con for RE: Gun Survivour.
This guy should try speedrunning, I bet he’d be into it
how long do you think it will take until people start pestering you to submit this to GDQ?
The numbers are in the negative; I believe some already did
@@sponge1234ifysomeone should submit that as a run to GDQ
i wonder if the aim was jumping around because the aim input was interrupted by the shoot input, and then aim would re-input causing it to try to lock on
did you know silent hills actually means hills which don't make noises? so playing it audioless is the true intended developer experience
This was a really fun video! I enjoyed it a lot, I remember all that frustration around the Splithead fight.
personally i think you should complete silent hill using the ps1 controller next though
1. why wasn't this reccomended to me?
2. why the fuck does this not have more views?

Punchy, I love your content. Keep it up!!! Greetings from Argentina
Peak use of the Grange Hill sound effect.
Your videos are a treat as always, Punchy!
Please do a "can you beat Silent Hill only by hopping backwards" or something like that lol.
Now do a run of a game you like with the normal controller for the game!
Harry do be dancing
great video as always Punpun!
Donkey Konga Silent Hill 1 run when?
Is that Gnosia music at 3:30?
Nice job 😅 (now what if Dance pad but Mark of the Mermaid? 🤔🤭) joking aside... amazing job lol
This needs waaayyyyy more views and likes!!! 😃
Which one was harder this or the ring fit one?
I hear that Gnosia music!
Can you play the Mario DDR game with a dance mat?
The challenge is being able to upload the video without being claimed.
silent hill: prepare to die edition
8:44 All I heard was that when I make that Silent Hill theme park which is just a recreated version of the town with fog machines to make you the park manager. Now I just need an evil high priestess for the supernatural stuff.
full stream?
I have a stupid idea. The first devil may cry on the dance mat. Dont ask me how that would work.
shame that you won't consider any more gimmick controller runs when the PS1 had a gimmick fishing rod controller that's just begging to be used for silent hill :P
16:20
ok now do it blindfolded and still without audio
Get a ten star ranking on a dance Mat on hard mode
I kinda wish we got to see you do a rhythm game video before the challenge, I feel it would have been better story telling
the irony of this is that I have made rhythm game videos the critical issue is that nobody watches them lol
@@PunchyYT I only remember seeing Theatrhythm.

It's a shame we don't get more videos from you since i don't watch streams most of the time but i love the videos.

you should play with the ps1 pachinco controller in honor of konami
I learned a lot about the mechanics of the game that I never knew. It's pretty sophisticated

i lost 4kg between the purchasing of the stepmaniax stage and this video's completion so yeah it works pretty well. it's just cardio, after all.
@@PunchyYT Punchy 90X wen??/j
Nice vid!
do silent hill 2 on a dance mat
Next you should play DDR on a dance pad.
look at them feet go
For some reason, I'm deeply amused by you censoring the first F-bomb but not any of the others later in the video. Great vid, BTW.

Neat
Ok, but hear me out, blindfolded DDR mat Silent Hill
Holding the bar is cheating
So... SH2 dance pad run when?
I just want to see which ending you get.
pennies
Next try an RPG
