Dr I wish you had diagnosed my mother here in London.
21st December last year I called the ambulance for hospital after she collapsed at home when I was getting her to bed,she had vomited twice earlier in the day.
This was the fourth day of Macrobid for UTI given by her GP.
The Dr at A+E diagnosed dehydration, put her on a drip for an hour and said her blood test was clear, and that we could then go home.
Less than 48 hours after discharge my mother had the same symptoms but this time did not recover from collapse.
It was very distressing, the only blessing is I was there holding her hand as she went.
I later talked to her GP,she said she was surprised the hospital didnt carry out a Urine sample test, also she said tbe blood test showed raised white blood cells.
She put urinary sepsis on death certificate..this was without post mortem.
But after watching a few videos I think my mother had pyelonephritis the last few weeks of her life that turned to sepsis.
I wrote a complaint to the hospital as I feel they didnt do enough tests and should have admitted her for observation.
CME for me.Thanks a lot.Which medicines may be used for symptomatic management of dysuria?

Thanks a lot for sharing wonderful knowledge sir.. my question is now a days Do you really use nitrofurantoin, Ciprofloxacin or Septran to treat your patient sir? It will be very nice if you discuss more practical approach rather than theoretical things...
Again many thanks for your efforts and hard work..
Dr. K@izen these lectures are meant to give basic knowledge about the common cases dealt in everyday routine by new doctors. I by purpose try to avoid going into more details. Will upload more detailed lectures after I complete these courses. Thank you very much for your kind words. 😊
Ciprofloxacin and nitrofurantoin are very effective in less severe cases of UTI till you wait for the cultures.
