- The road from Pentecostalism to the Catholic Church is more direct than you might think!
In this episode, Matt Swaim talks to Marcus Peter and Kenny Burchard, who both had radical conversions to Christ in the Pentecostal movement, and later became convicted to follow the Holy Spirit's leading into the Catholic Church.
They discuss how questions of freedom, authority, and the nature of the Holy Spirit led them through the discernment process. It's a great conversation!

Love this. Charismatic Jesus People Catholic Convert here!
Glad to meet you! You're not alone, there are a lot of people like you...
Thank you gentlemen. A crux of this issue is that many people are taught wrong things about what The Catholic Church truly teaches 🙏❤️.
The best way to find the truth is to give the *best* version of the different positions and THEN evaluate which one is true.
There are not one hundred people in the United States who hate The Catholic Church, but there are millions who hate what they wrongly perceive the Catholic Church to be. - Bishop Fulton J. Sheen
@@jaycole3050 Slogans dont help
@@eireannemerald1382 Yep..a slogan. A cheap one at that
@@shihyuchu6753 :
The bishops pronouncement is not a slogan, it is the plain and simple truth.
In Pentecostal services the focus is on the Pastor. In the Catholic Mass the focus is on God the Father, His son Jesus and the Holy Spirit. It is not on the Priest.
"Ordinary catholic families cannot survive. They must be extraordinary catholic families. They must be what I do not hesitate to call 'heroic' catholic families.Ordinary catholic families are no match for the devil as he uses media of communication to secularize and desacralize modern society. No less than ordinary individual catholics can survive,so ordinary catholic families cannot survive. They have no choice. They must either be holy- which means sanctified - or they will disappeared". Fr John Hardon S.J
Many Catholics easily stray away from the faith that they received. What are the reasons for their falling into complacency, becoming indifferent and even hostile towards Christ and the Christian Faith?
The fault with many Catholics is that they think baptism is a graduation from having acquired knowledge and understanding of their faith. After completing their catechism classes or RCIA journey, they no longer seek out opportunities to continue growing their faith, both doctrinally and spiritually. Their only occasion to grow in faith is the one-hour Mass that they attend every Sunday. This is hardly enough to sustain the life of a Catholic. Those who do not grow in their faith are already losing their faith. There is no neutrality.
How, then, can we grow in our faith? Firstly, we need to deepen our intimacy with God through Christ. In Christ, we come to know and love the Father. Secondly, we must be rooted in the Word of God. We cannot grow in our faith without deepening our love and appreciation for the Word of God through bible study and most of all, a prayerful reading and sharing of the Word of God.
Thirdly, we must seek the support of the Christian community. A Catholic without the support of his fellow Catholics will eventually fall out from the faith, especially when he undergoes the trials and challenges of life, the influence of secularism, and the materialistic, individualistic and atheistic views of the world. Fourthly, to grow our faith, we need to evangelise and be a witness to Christ. We evangelise ourselves by evangelising others. By sharing our faith with others, we strengthen our own faith. By teaching our faith to others, we grow in understanding and clarity in what we believe in.
Finally, growing in faith is to grow in our Christian life. This is the most effective form of witnessing. It means that those of us who are baptised must live a life of holiness and purity, free from sin and a bad conscience. A life of holiness and charity are the fruits of a strong spiritual life and a life of hope founded in the promises of God.
If the Catholic Church is accused of being satanic, that is no more than its Founder, Jesus Christ, was accused of. When our Lord was on earth, he had the same problem. He was driving demons out, and some said he was doing this by the power of the devil. How did Jesus respond? He said, “How can Satan drive out Satan? If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand; that is the end of him” (Mk 3:23-26).
The Catholic Church drives out the devil, too. This practice is called exorcism. No one can deny that the Catholic Church has been doing exorcisms on people and driving out Satan for nearly two millennia. Therefore, we must reason like Jesus: If the Catholic Church were from the devil, it could not drive the devil out.
We shouldn’t be surprised when such charges are made against the Catholic Church. Jesus told us, “A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master; it is enough for the disciple to be like his teacher and the servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign those of his household” (Mt 10:24-25).
Weak Catholics become protestants
Strong Protestants become Catholics,
THE ROLE OF A PROTESTANT PASTOR VS A CATHOLIC PRIEST IN A CONDENSED FORM..
Bible says, for priest cannot make himself a priest. Pastors of protestants make themselves pastors.
Protestant pastor is simply a false teacher. They may not be trying to teach false doctrine because many, if not most, of them are simply ignorant of the truth and desire to teach the truth. However, a Protestant pastor is nothing more than a false teacher and a leader of a false church. A priest, on the other hand, is a pastor. He is a shepherd. He is ordained by God. The same is not true of a Protestant pastor.
Presbyterian perspective. The sacrament of communion is not as important in many Protestant churches (we only have communion once a month, which is typical of many Protestant churches). Protestant pastors generally also don't do things like hear confession (although the spiritual counseling they may give to members may come close in many instances.) The emphasis in Protestant churches is generally on preaching and teaching, and, perhaps to a lesser extent, being a spiritual leader for the church in terms of counseling. That's why in Presbyterian churches the pastor is referred to at times as a "teaching elder" or as a "minister of word and sacrament," "word" referring to teaching and preaching.
Protestant pastors also have a lot of administrative responsibilities, including essentially fundraising for capital campaigns and annual pledges. The pastor also has to oversee associate pastors (if any), and employees/volunteers such as Sunday School teachers, youth ministry people, clerical and administrative staff. Also many Protestant churches have a lay board of deacons, or session of elders, which have greater or lesser powers of decision-making and responsibility, and the pastor has responsibility for overseeing them and essentially keeping them unified--although often such boards ultimately have more power than the pastor, including having the power to fire and hire the pastor.
In summary, for better or worse, a Protestant pastor's job is a lot like being the CEO of a company, in additional to spiritual responsibilities.
A priest has two primary functions -- to offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and to forgive sins. These two functions were given to the Apostles on Holy Thursday (the Mass) and in the Upper Room (Absolution). Anything a priest does apart from this is not essential, he may have a flock of his own in a parish or he may be a monk or a hermit, it does not matter. What matters is that he is ordained to offer the Sacrifice and to forgive sins.
The Sacrament of Communion receiving Christ is the CENTER of the Catholicism.
The Eucharist is the CENTER of our faith. What could be more important then eating the bread from heaven and getting the Grace of God that enters your body and soul and mind?
The Priest in the is nothing like a CEO in a company. The Priest is the person who stands in for Christ and does his work here on earth.
The Priest is who has authority to change regular bread and wine into the body and blood of Christ. The Priest is the one who has authority to forgive us our sins in the name of Christ.
The Priest is the one who teaches the word not by his own interpretation but by the way that Christ taught it. The teaching comes straight from the mouth of Christ and his Apostles.
Nope. WRONG. It's on Jesus

Padre Pio is one of our most famous modern Charismatics in the Catholic Church. He had all those Charisms of Prophecy, Healing, Biolocation, Knowledge, Stigmata etc.
A Catholic name Damian Stayne is writing Books on the Charisms in the Catholic Church he also works with Pentecostals. He founded Cor Et Lumen Christi in the UK. Apparently Pope Leo had Prophecy about the Holy Spirit pouring out Grace on a new Pentacost on to the Church. We have New Dawn here started by Miles Dempsy who hold the Walsingham Catholic Conference every year at the Our Lady of Walsingham site
I lived in community with Damian and his lare wife Cathy in the late 1980s before they were married. It was The Prince of Peace Community. Makes was our leader and he and his wife Joan also lived in the same building which was a convent leased from the Ursulines in Greenwich London. I was a convert from atheism baptized in Medjuorje at 19.

Amazing testimonies you guys. Thank God for you two.
I'm a Catholic convert who feels the holy spirit. It's like a waterfall of energy flowing through me. I have met any Catholics that think it's weird when I mention it 😅😅
I experience this, but it comes through the quiet....contemplative prayer.
I don't think it is weird at all. Blessings to you.
15min: on accents, my brother was convent-schooled ..and he ALWAYS sang in an Irish accent lol
I always am uncomfortable telling my conversion story because it means so much to me and speaking it aloud seems to trivialize the experience. But I must step out on faith anyway and let the Spirit do His work.
The Catholic has an acute shortage of teachers. These converts should be encouraged to teach in Catholic communities
Felt something similar at a Catholic chapel.
Wow what powerful witnesses
This was really helpful, thank you! I was raised Pentecostal and have moved into more Charismatic non-denominational and inter-denominational. I’ve been looking into Catholicism for a few months and attending mass. One concern I have had (typical Pentecostal) is where is there room for the Holy Spirit? I love so much about the mass and learning Catholic things, but I wouldn’t convert if I had to leave anything behind, and wouldn’t want to not have room for the gifts. These guys addressed many of these concerns and similar thoughts to what I’ve been having about wanting the historic fullness. Appreciate these talks!
I would look at Bishop Barron on the Holy Spirit on TH-cam
depends on the parish. Find a Charismatic Catholic community or a not uptight Black Catholic church. The gifts of the Holy Spirit seem more emphasised in these areas of our Church from my experience. Many Catholics are truly involved in the life of the Holy Spirit. God bless you!
There is a Catholic charismatic renewal group in the church that you can join. They do most things like Pentecostals. Please look into it.

Watching along this episode, my heart exclaimed moment by moment: Interesting... Inspirational... precious... Thanks for this precious sharing! 💓💓💓💝🌈🙏
I'm not technically Pentacostal, but Charismatic. Often there's little difference between the two, but I'm on my way to becoming Catholic. I honestly knew in about 30 minutes, months ago and have been just figuring out how to leave my current church.
When I say it was easy it was easy. Trust me everything they say is true. The total belief in the Holy Spirit is the easiest connection. Moreover, unlike many Protestants they unequivocally believe that we are faced by faith and works. They do not accept OSAS period. Some Charismatics do, but not Pentacostals.
Dear CaniBeSeroun, I will be praying for you! Please come home soon!

Catholicism is a godless vile religion not Christian never was never will be.
Without the Eucharist, all Pentacostalist is dead, spiritually.
The Pentecostalist "eucharist" is only bread with yeast, (not unleavened bread as at the Last Supper) , and grapes.
Your doctrine is soooo bad. That’s what happens when you don’t know the Bible.

I am like a karate master and I can impersonate Barney the dinosaur having existential meltdowns and I was born Pentecostal
God was very specific with the Hebrew tradition of worship and with the order of the priesthood. Jesus never ended the priesthood. Sacrifices are offered up by priests.
Priests offer the precious Body and Blood of Jesus in the form of bread and wine after it has been changed into the Body and Blood of Jesus to God the father at the Mass, as the sacrifice, which was done on the Cross for our redemption.

Being a newly Catholic believer from protestant, I can attest that God is in all his churches regardless of what type if they do what he wants them to do. Protestants want to say he isn't with Catholics, Catholics want to say protestant's don't have him. But God does what he wants in what church he wants. We should be brothers and not stay divided by dogmas and what we think the bible says. But what God actually does in these churches and lives. We can keep our beliefs and churches and still be one with fighting the good fight of Christ.
God maybe in individuals that happen to be currently in Protestant denominations, but that doesn’t mean God is in that denomination.
@@michaelibach9063 fair enough
God can be in other denominations, however they are missing the fullness and authority that comes with the Catholic Church
Catholics recognize the baptisms of protestant churches as long as they use the biblical formula.

Total Schism coming to the Roman Catholic Church

The purpose of this post is not to predict the future but to report what I saw in the Spirit. I was listening to some Roman Catholic podcasts about the pagan idolatry being brought into the Vatican. I saw this vision immediately: this cross that was styled as if with a leafy “clovers” pattern on all four sides was struck or sliced in its 90 degree corner from right top to bottom left (at only the junction of the vertical and horizontal beam).
It was a clean break!
Interpretation: Due to flagrant pagan idolatry the Roman Catholic Church is about to split! The cutting of this cross shows that the Left will take with them the “head” of the church while the Right side will take the base; the laity and underdogs. Although this seems too shocking a notion for Roman Catholicism, what else is there for Catholics to do?

Salvation is the only subject regards the beliefs of Christ. Either its once saved always saved or once lost always lost dichotomy.
Riveting guys
unfortunately, last time I was on your online forum for converts, people were having a field day crticizing ecumenism and the speaking of tongues
There is Prophecy and speaking in Tongues in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal.. Look at Cor Et Lumen Christi and its founder Damien Stayne who has wrote books on the use Charisms in the Catholic Church, he also speaks to Pentacostals on the Charisms in our Catholic Church. He also knows the History in Protestantism of Pentecost Christians .. Padre Pio is one of our best known Charismatics with the Holy Spirit in abundance. He had words of knowledge, Prophecy, Biolocation, Stigmata, he could perform many healings through Jesus..
@@albertoascari2542 I am charismatic myself
What people must realize regarding speaking in tongues is that, during Pentecost, St. Peter and the other Apostles including many Gentiles and jews were speaking in each other languages allowing for everyone to understand what the other is saying. The difference with speaking in tongues now is that, it is babble--not of any language that others can understand--which is a problem and is seen as NOT of God and the Holy Spirit but of the evil one tricking people and mocking what God did on that Pentecostal day (Acts 2).
God will not allow speaking in a different language for others around to not understand it. What will be the point of that?
It isn't for other people, it's for God. The teaching in this is not robust than you think it is. Paul mentioned utterances that when said no one would understand. He reprimanded a church for doing so in 1 Corinthians 14. He said he spoke in his heavenly language as well.
He didn't forbid them from doing it but said do it outside of Mass so that newcomers would understand. It's not just about Acts 2
Bizarre earrings !
Praying in tongues, huh? Please ... just stop it.
Why don’t you tell that to the 300 million charismatic Catholics 😂
This involvement with karate of these two speakers--causes grave concerns with me. I don't detect serious Bible inductive study of the Holy Bible. They have a superficial knowledge of the Pentecostal faith.
Because there not christians
Are christians forbidden to do karate?
On what basis do you think they don't know the Bible? What makes you an authority on their interpretation?
I didn’t need to know all the ins and outs of oneness Pentecostalism to abandon it. The lack of the trinity was enough.
