Great video - question though. When reinstalling the airbag, I have had a terrible time getting the bolts to line up. Any advice???
HL3Z-10E893-AA 2016+ Ford F-150 OEM GPS and Satellite antenna and to get the signal to the OEm antenna is GL3Z-10E928-AA (splitter) and to access the cable is behind your glove box yellow clip and follow to your radio. to swap roof antenna remove passager visior hindge and mount removed pass side "A" pillar pull down the head liner to access the bolt that holds the roof mount (8mm) screw Signal strength is alot better. FYI
This is great 👍🏻. I just got myself a 2014 Mustang with Sync 2, My Touch with navigation and was thinking if I could upgrade to Sync 3 with Android Auto. I think it should work just as well. Please post any updates to see if you have had any issues with it since. Thanks.

I’ve got heated/cooled seats and a heated steering wheel that are controlled from my Sync 2 unit on my 2015 F-350 Platinum. Do you know if this would support those functions?

Hey quick question i got mine installed wondering if yours gets hot while using android auto or apple car play? I noticed my screen gets super hot and even freeze for a few seconds sometimes.
The tool you used to swap the brackets from the old one to the new one, was that a star head or a Phillips ?
what gps antenna have you used, I've bought two and they keep putting the navigation arrow off the road.

I heard you say looks pretty legit when looking at the tag on the APIM. That is a counterfeit label on the APIM. Its a parts built APIM.
Hence the "looks". That being said even if it is, it's been almost a year and the unit has been working perfectly.
@@AutoJourney i believe it ford modules are shit my sync 2 screen touch screen stopped working at 55k miles in my 2015 and i never used the touch screen except for long drives and would use the maps

Bought the same kit - some functions aren’t working. Like heated seats, steering wheel controls. Mine says to “email us” and they’ll help - but no email. Do you have support contact info with your kit?

Great video, just did the install and it did retain all of my settings. Anyone have issues with the usb component not wanting to stay in the console? For example, when I unplug the usb cable, the hole component comes out unless I hold down on it. It looks to be seated correctly, but something is not catching so it easily pulls back out.
Hey Jonathan, I actually did have that issue with the USB hub in my center console. It just wasn't pushed in all the way. I would just try taking it out and putting it back in, maybe with a little more force.

On Sync 2, if your car didn't have nav it shows a compass in the top right corner. If you buy the sync 3 kit, everything required to enable nav is included.
If I get the sync 2 to 3.4 will I still be able to turn on my heater and cooled seats through the screen since the truck doesn’t have physical buttons for it. I have a 2014 platinum and I want Apple car play
Yes you will. Just installed this in my 13 f150 and the unit retains everything the old one did

Before working on something like this you should always disconnect the battery, specially in this case where you guys where touching the Airbag

Hey Jason! Yes, the factory backup camera still works after the upgrade.
Do you know if this works with heated and cooling seats?
It should work. If it doesn't appear at first, Forscan can probably enable it on the Sync 3 home screen.

I upgraded to sync 3.4 in my 2015 ford f150 platinum but i lost the ambient lighting sterio keeps on turning off and on or it will freeze as well any ideas?? They said it already came programed to my truck but when my bluthooth connects it says it connects to a ford focus??? Ill take any help i can get

Hey Julie, I believe going from the 4 inch screen to the 8 inch requires more than just the screen and the module. You will most likely need a new bezel and a different harness. I'd look on ebay for swap kits.

Did you have to have the new apim programmed before install or is it plug and play? I’m trying to do this to my ‘14 fx4 but don’t wanna have to pay the dealer for programming
It's funny that all of the videos I've watched no one that's making these videos answers this question. Not one single one that I've seen.
The guy does say at the beginning of this video that he gave his VIN to the seller and they programmed it to that VIN.
Just one question have you had any issues with the new Sync 3 since you have installed this upgrade, also I have a 2014 Lincoln MKX would this also apply and load up with the Lincoln Emblem on the display ?
No issues! Still works great. Depending on where you buy it, they may be able to have it already preselected with the Lincoln screen. If not, you can switch it yourself using a laptop or phone and a program called FORScan.
May have missed this but can it work for 2012 models?
As long as your vehicle has the sync 2 touchscreen this swap should work! However, I believe the F-150 didn't get this option until 2013 MY.

Not this exact kit, but I'd search online for something specific to your dash and model year. I'm pretty sure most 2011+ vehicles w/ Sync of some sort can be upgraded.

My exact kit has sold out, but there are other sellers from China that sell a similar kit. Check ebay for a "Sync 2 to Sync 3 upgrade kit for (your vehicle type)".
Hey man, did you have to move the center console to get to the bolts on the bottom of the cover?
I didn't move the center console. If you're talking about the bottom cover shown at the end of the video around 22:18 . I believe you can just squeeze it to remove it after removing the side A/C panels.

Can I only buy de API Module and connect it to my old screen?
If you mean your Sync 2 screen... no, the two use different screens... different tech and connectors. For a Sync 2 to 3 you need essentially the kit (screen, apim, external gps antenna, connector between screen/apim, usb connector, usb port and the cutout for the usb to mount) and hopefully the seller programs it for you... although it can be done with Forscan. Which is why they include the OBDII dongle in the kits, just in case.

Hey Erick, last I looked my exact kit was sold out. Just search ebay for a "Sync 2 to Sync 3 upgrade kit for F150". And look for one that includes all the things my kit had. It's been almost a year and still working flawlessly!

If you have Sync 2, it should work. There are kits available if you have the smaller screen as well.

Just search on Ebay, at the time I purchased mine there was quite a few sellers selling this kit. Look for listings that mention your specific vehicle.

I paid about $550 on ebay. Much cheaper than most places on the web. Filmed this months ago and Sync 3 is still working great!

What's the concern? It's adhesive backed, so it's not direct contact. It's been almost a year since we did the install and the GPS signal has worked perfectly.
I was looking at doing this on my 2014 F150 as well and i was told to keep the GPS away from all metal. What did you pay for that unit anyways? do you have a link?
