Hi DIY Reid, I was wondering if there's anyway you could help me out... I can't see the APIM module in forscan. I have software at 3.10, nav app at 3.10 (although it doesn't show in the system information page), have the A10 memory card inserted, and I unlocked the wallpaper. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks so much for these really comprehensive and clear guides. Despite some nervousness I was able to install the navigation by following the steps, without any problems. The dealer quoted £130 just to 'scope the issue' with no guarantees it would be the final bill, so finding these instructions and being able to follow them is fantastic. Very many thanks.

Thanks for the video. I watched a couple of other videos for adding navigation to my 2013 Ford Explorer, but something was missing in those. You were the only one who mentioned the navigation app that had to be installed. In fact, it has to be installed before doing anything else. I know because I tried and didn't get it twice. Then I remembered the navigation app and that you had a link. If not for you, I'd still be sitting in my Explorer scratching my head. Thanks again.

I wanted to say thank you. I have owned a 2015 Ford Fusion Titanium AWD for about 6 years. Following your instructions I successfully downloaded and upgraded to version 3.08. I used ForScan to make the recommended changes and purchased the latest version of maps "A14", 2023 from Amazon for $19.99 plus tax and for the first time I have a working Sync Navigation system. Thanks so much!
Worked perfectly in Europe on a Ford Mondeo (Same as Fusion). I had 3.08 already installed and just used your nav apps file along with the png at the end. Thanks
I must say this is an easy install procedure, Followed the instructions and all worked fine. Took about 50 minutes start to finish including a battery monitor reset, (nothing to do with navigation just needed done while Forscan was connected) probably will take longer to learn how to use the thing. Thanks so much DIY REID for taking the time to make the video and allowing us the opportunity for this upgrade. Ford should be embarrassed for the price point at build time!!!! everything is in the thing to make it work except for the map card!!!! Thanks again!!! Chuck
Just got done enabling my Navigation. Hands down the best video I have seen on this process. Very good. Had a little issue with getting Forscan to work but I had to slow down and figure it out. All in all took me maybe 45 minutes to do everything. Give or take. Thanks for the awesome video.
Just wanted to let you know that I finally got it all together, did my update, the Naviapp, the wallpaper, changed the code in the APIM, and voila. I have Navigation. I want to thank you and all so much for the help. It really works!
Just activated navigation with your files and following your video and it worked :). Many thanks for sharing your knowledge and publishing this video. I bought pre-owned vehicle and dealer told that vehicle never had navigation hence it would be expansive to have this feature. I was able to do it very easily and economically through your procedure. Thank you once again.
If you are just downloading Nav App 3.10, you are going to want to unzip from the files pop up window on windows. There’s a zipped file about five files deep so unzipping the original download only will not let you upload and give you an error when putting the Ford Maps card in. When you click on the file In the pop-up window there should be a unzip button towards the top of the taskbar. This will unzip all. Hope this helps avoid the frustration I had. All and all, THANK YOU. This works, just Make sure to uncompress your files and that all files were selected
By far the best demo I've seen , thanks for sharing ! I was going to take my car to an audio shop to get this done for £100 but now its just 15£ for odb reader 👍
This is excellent - my previously unusable glass panel in the dashboard now has a clock that works, phone connection that works properly now, and navigation that works (I thought navigation was not possible until I watched this video). I've probably also saved at least 3 or 4 hundred dollars by avoiding a dealer (my total costs were about $30 for the OBD connector and $35 for an A10 SD card). And now I can do basic diagnostics if needed, as well. Thank you, DIY Reid!!!!
They wanted $1200 up here in Canada because they insisted the Sync2 needs a "GPS capable APIM" despite me telling them it already had a GPS as I could see it displaying coordinates.
One thing I forgot to mention in the video is you'll need to run the NaviPatch wallpaper on your radio to make things work. Once that's complete you need to do a master reset on Sync 2
I've installed the nav 3.08 but after the install it's not there even after master resetting it. I've done like 10x I dont understand what I'm doing wrong. I was able to upgrade to the 3.08 software with no issues just can't get the nav3.08 to install
@@DIYReid yes I did use you link. After upgrading I went settings>help>system information and I saw the new 3.08 software there but no nav was installed. I will send you a picture of my screen on Instagram
@@DIYReid hi DIY reid, am having the exact same problem, i've plugged in my USB with the navapp 3.08 and it performed its installation but it only toke 10 minutes to install and it was not showing on the system information page, do i have to still keep my USB still connected for 30 minutes or am i doing something wrong?

DIY Reid hi , I have already updated my sync now I'm on 3.10 ! How can I install navigation to my Ford Escape 2015 ? I'm have already downloaded the nav app 3.10 put it on a usb and once in my car plug the usb after 2mn that day installation complete ! But still don't have the navigation at the top right of the screen can you tell me step by step what to do ! I only updated my sync so far which is 3.10
Thank you DIY Reid. I got it working thanks to your earlier help on Sync versions that got me started. Everything worked and the navigation is sweet. II have a 14' Escape and I just ignored the 3.08 Sync and navigation stuff and went right for the 3.10. The A10 maps card worked fine with it. The one misunderstanding out there I think is that we don't just need to set the Navipatch as the background screen, we also need to go to select it and either tap or double tap it, or click on set as background one more time after making the FORscan mod. Then Sync 2 says "Nav Unlocked" and the compass final shrinks and it says insert navigation SD card on the upper right. It is a live and learn experience for us all. What tricked me was I installed the naviogation program 3 or 4 times and it did not show up on my list of installed programs like it did in your video. It must have been in there after the fist install but only showed after I did the Navipatch unlock. Thanks so much. This is so much better than the suction cup special!
KOT...did navigation work without it showing up in installed programs? I just got my SD card today, put it in, and nothing. Did another system reset, still nothing.... Should I do the Navipatch again? When I put the navigation s/w USB in, it says 'program already updated' or something to that affect.
@@DIYReid Hi Reid... I tried that yesterday with no success. Considered trying to downgrade to 3.08 as somewhere I read enabling navigation wasn't possible with 3.10. But first tried to re-load the Nav S/W but SYNC kept saying 'already loaded....(woman's voice). Re-read all the comments here and many elsewhere, and loaded BT4T-14D546-EE.CAB, did master reset, then loaded EA5T-D546-AUA.CAB, EA5T-14D546-AV.CAB, & EA5T-14F657-AG.ZIP then another master reset. During this process watched 7 or so files load successfully. Insert map SD message was replaced by navigation, and all is well! Thank you very much for the video and continued support for those of us that need help.

I installed the navigation and it works. However, I have problems because voice navigation is not working properly. It mixes yards and miles with each other, always telling the wrong distances. The information on the screen is correct. Any idea how to solve the problem?

I go to the help screen and my ccpu s/w version shows 4.30.13171_product and no navigation I changed the 0 to a 4 in forscan and nothing changed and when I try to do the software update it says make sure the file is in the root directory it’s the only thing on there
Thank you so much for this video. I had done a sync update off the ford website and lost my navigation! your software for the nav apps got it back for me! Ford was going to charge me $100 bucks at a minimum to fix it! Thanks a million

@@hossamrefaey7960 You download the update in the description and put it on a thumb drive and put it in the USB port on your vehicle and it'll update it.
Success! Since I was already on 3.08 I did not have to update SYNC Step taken: 1. Installed Navigation app via USB stick - The files need to be in the root directory on your USB stick 2. Used Forscan to change bit to enable navigation (follow instruction in video) 3. Unlocked Navipatch.png file - after this the information screen was still enabled in the top right and there was no i in the bottom middle of the screen where the home and settings buttons are and the compass on the display was still big 4. Performed a master reset and that fixed the screen to show navigation in the top right corner with the small compass and the i where the home button is. 5. Inserted maps SD card, in my case it's the A7 map versions. After a minute or so my address showed up in the navigation quadrant of the display. Touched navigation and the map showed up. Took her for a spin around the block and it followed my route perfectly. Got to the end of the street and entered (voice command) my home address and it navigated me to my driveway. One thing that I need to research is on my 2016 Fusion that came equipped with NAV from the factory the right instrument cluster has a navigation menu and when enabled shows the next turn information next to the speedo. Anyone know how to enable this as it's probably not in the APIM module. BTW - I used my OBDII bluetooth adapter without HS/MS can switch and was able to change the proper bit in the APIM module. I'm sure if I do some more mods in the future this may be a problem but for now I'm good to go with my BT adapter. Thanks to everyone that made this possible. My wife is a happy camper. Now she has her dream SUV all except for the sunroof................I do have a saws-all lol.
@@innspiron I used my old Bluetooth adaptor. It's so old it doesn't even have the label on it anymore lol. You have to use a Windows PC. The Forescan Android app cannot make changes.

Ok so step one is upgrade sync if needed, install navigation software, run the Nav wallpaper, then use forscan and change that code and finally do the Master reset?

I need to do this on a car we just bought...it is already on version 3.10...do I need the 3.10 update still (as I can't find it anywhere...the link in description doesn't work anymore) or do I just start at the navi patch part? I am so scared I am going to mess something up 😅
I installed forscan on my labtop and installed all the sync updates and did the changes needed and I still can't get navigation enabled on my 2013 edge. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
i know its a log shot. I installed the 3.10 version. Then got information in top right corner instead of navigation. was able to add navi patch. still showed information. ran forscan and it already had a 4 in the second slot.. decided to do master reset on ford, now says insert sd card. insert card a8 and a10 both do not read. I am not sure what to do next.
I've updated to 3.10, run the Forscan mod, but haven't been able to get the navigation app to successfully install. I've tried a few times and keep getting to "installation complete" but the navigation app doesn't appear on my app list. I've done a master reset. I looked through the navigation app, it doesn't appear to be VIN specific. This seems to be a hard stop for me completing the update. Any suggestions?
Awesome video. I have a 2014 Fusion. I now have the insert nav card button. But my cheap card has a fualt from ebay. Before I buy another from amazon my question is.. I don't show nav software version in the settings screen, I have sync 2 3.10 and installed the nav 3.10 app. But still no software version shows. Did a master reset again stil no software version avaialble? Any ideas.

Not sure of which sd card would be necessary if sync 2 didn't have navigation added. On Amazon I see most of them state they are updates and won't work if wasn't originally equipped. Thanks

I followed the shown steps on Forscan but the big compass kept returning after the screen reboots, with the 'Information' at the top right corner . Hi I have 2012 Ford Focus. My Sync module apim was broken and I got used one from same car same year . But the used one doesn’t have backup camera navigation and auto park. So if I update sync software which car vin number I should use to download the file. My own car or used apim- car vin number?
Do i need the sd nav. card or can i just download onto a thumb drive and then insert into the usb port in my suv and it will update m nav. system with out he sd card. Then I can use it to nav. where i need to go. Am I on the right track on not..

Got it done, thank you much (2014 Taurus Limited} ...just installed the latest A-10 update and working great...took a while to load the nav app properly but i stuck with it and figured it our combing through all the comments!
Hey John , I have a 2013 Taurus limited with 3.08 so I got all the stuff to add navigation but I can’t get the nav app and patch to read . Downloaded files and extracted and sent to usb thumb drive but when inserting into my cars usb drive it comes up with no readable media files found ? Any suggestions? Thanks
@@DIYReid I have the 3.08 nav app on one 32gb thumb drive formatted to fat32 and the nav patch on a different thumb drive formatted to fat 32 and no matter which one i put in either of my cars usb slots it comes up with no media files found ? How should the files be downloaded onto the drives ? i extracted files then sent to usb .

I'm not sure if someone asked this question or not? Anyways? So I have to download all of these things and that I get but one thing I'm confused about is, can I download all the things I need at once onto the flash drive or do I have to do one at a time and delete and again ect? If I can download all at once what size USB drive would you suggest I should get ??
I apologize in advance if this is a dumb question. Don’t you need some sort of GPS receiver? When I bought a new head unit for my car, I have a small receiver that sits on the dashboard which gets the satellite signals for the navigation system.

Hi, thanks for your well done video. I succeeded to install the navigation. I can see the maps, routes and everything else. BUT what I cannot see is the Navigation button on top right. I still see the button Information. When I touch it, I get the navigation. It seems it work the same way, just doesn't show the Navigation button. My compass is also big as it was before. Just to let you know, I installed with success the navigation app and the Navipatch unlock was also done with success. Any hint here? Tks.

ok i need some help.i think i down load the programs to my computer. they show up. i think i put them on the flash drive. it doesn't seem to find them in my f150 2015. i get no root information. I've done the forscan part.
When you unzip the folder the contents of that folder need to be on the thumb drive only. I believe it’s a folder and one file outside of it. Make sure you freshly formatted the drive to fat32.
i cant get sync 2 to find files on my usb stick, does it have to be a 32gb set to FAT32 format, and do i need to unzip all zipped folders in the navigation app or just the first NAV_APP3.08 folder? as i notice that there are 2 more zipped folders inside the NAV_APP3.08 folder after unzipping the first...

I have a 2015 sel ford edge 2.0 I have updated my sync version to 3.10 using software provided at the ford website. the "information" tab wasn't updated to "navigation". according to your video i still have some more steps to go. what should I install first? Is the GPS icon with a red X on it, next to the minus eyeglass icon the reason I would have to do this process? I upgraded my 4 inch screen to the sync 2 8 inch screen myself and save over $1300 but that is the icon I get. Everything is operational but it shows my car is in Michigan but I am sitting in Baltimore

Wha should I do when I did all the steps now instead Informacion on top right corner now shows insert Nav sd cars, but you touch it nothing happens, I insert the sd card A11, the system does not read the SD card. ! ? What should I do ?

Hi Diy Reed Good video thank you, could I just check the navi patch please. Do I need to do that after I've enabled the sat nav? Is it as simple as load the patch on a use stick, plunging that usb stick into the car and follow the on screen instruction?
For the navi patch wallpaper you'll load it on a thumb drive and then load it into the system via wallpaper and then there will be a blue unlock button on the screen. Tap that and it'll say unlocked.
Diy Reed Could you break it right down for me please, have I got this right. 1. I need the nav app, so download it on to USB stick (any need to unzip or do anything else?). Insert usb into port on the car, does it auto run? 2. Follow steps in the video. 3. Download navi patch to usb (again unzip?). Insert again auto run? tap blue unlock button when prompted. 4. Carry out master reset of sync 2, via touch screen menus. I'm not as stupid as that probably makes me sound I just wanted to check i have got it all right.
does it matter if the car is running or not for this process? thanks or in general what is the best practice when using FORscan on a vehicle? start car then plug in adapter or other way around? thanks

The ELM USB adapter has to be setup on my computer Ann them conectar and my car and forscan? Because I’m trying plugging in my car the ELM is not responding to forscan!! Please help me! Thank you !!!
I am on Forscan and the second digit is already a 4 and i dont have navigation it says information, do i just need to put the navigation app on the sync 2 to get it to work....doesnt make sense as to why it still says information not navigation followed the steps and saw you had triple 0's i didnt, i had a 4 on the second digit already, help please

Hello I tried to install the navi apps first and it wasn't reconzied do I have to do other steps first? Also I don't have 3.8 I have the recent 3.10 would that change things?
Reading your notes I'm not sure I get this version fiasco. My 2016 Fusion shows version 4.32. Which shows release date 2014. Would I be correct to install version 3.08 release date of 2015. It's confusing because version #'s usually go up.

Will any sync updates from Ford, 3.10, require any additional modifications?
are you supposed to extract all the files within the folder in the zip?
If you are just downloading Nav App 3.10, you are going to want to unzip from the files pop up window on windows. There’s a zipped file about five files deep so unzipping the original download only will not let you upload and give you an error when putting the Ford Maps card in. When you click on the file In the pop-up window there should be a unzip button towards the top of the taskbar. This will unzip all. Hope this helps avoid the frustration I had. All and all, THANK YOU. This works, just Make sure to uncompress your files and that all files were selected
Just finished adding this to my 2013 Super Duty, and it worked great. Follow the steps in both videos, and it works without a hitch.

This is excellent - my previously unusable glass panel in the dashboard now has a clock that works, phone connection that works properly now, and navigation that works (I thought navigation was not possible until I watched this video). I've probably also saved at least 3 or 4 hundred dollars by avoiding a dealer (my total costs were about $30 for the OBD connector and $35 for an A10 SD card). And now I can do basic diagnostics if needed, as well. Thank you, DIY Reid!!!!
They wanted $1200 up here in Canada because they insisted the Sync2 needs a "GPS capable APIM" despite me telling them it already had a GPS as I could see it displaying coordinates.
The Sync 3 needs a capable APIM. Sync 2 doesn’t.
I like the self diagnose myself.

One thing I forgot to mention in the video is you'll need to run the NaviPatch wallpaper on your radio to make things work. Once that's complete you need to do a master reset on Sync 2
I've installed the nav 3.08 but after the install it's not there even after master resetting it. I've done like 10x I dont understand what I'm doing wrong. I was able to upgrade to the 3.08 software with no issues just can't get the nav3.08 to install
max hyppolite is you used my link to upgrade to 3.08 it comes with Nav App. You don’t need to use that.

@@DIYReid hi DIY reid, am having the exact same problem, i've plugged in my USB with the navapp 3.08 and it performed its installation but it only toke 10 minutes to install and it was not showing on the system information page, do i have to still keep my USB still connected for 30 minutes or am i doing something wrong?
Worked great! Nav showed up within a few seconds, everything works. Points of interest, favorites, voice commands, route guidance. Thanks!

Thank you DIY Reid. I got it working thanks to your earlier help on Sync versions that got me started. Everything worked and the navigation is sweet. II have a 14' Escape and I just ignored the 3.08 Sync and navigation stuff and went right for the 3.10. The A10 maps card worked fine with it. The one misunderstanding out there I think is that we don't just need to set the Navipatch as the background screen, we also need to go to select it and either tap or double tap it, or click on set as background one more time after making the FORscan mod. Then Sync 2 says "Nav Unlocked" and the compass final shrinks and it says insert navigation SD card on the upper right. It is a live and learn experience for us all. What tricked me was I installed the naviogation program 3 or 4 times and it did not show up on my list of installed programs like it did in your video. It must have been in there after the fist install but only showed after I did the Navipatch unlock. Thanks so much. This is so much better than the suction cup special!
KOT...did navigation work without it showing up in installed programs? I just got my SD card today, put it in, and nothing. Did another system reset, still nothing.... Should I do the Navipatch again? When I put the navigation s/w USB in, it says 'program already updated' or something to that affect.

@@DIYReid Hi Reid... I tried that yesterday with no success. Considered trying to downgrade to 3.08 as somewhere I read enabling navigation wasn't possible with 3.10. But first tried to re-load the Nav S/W but SYNC kept saying 'already loaded....(woman's voice). Re-read all the comments here and many elsewhere, and loaded BT4T-14D546-EE.CAB, did master reset, then loaded EA5T-D546-AUA.CAB, EA5T-14D546-AV.CAB, & EA5T-14F657-AG.ZIP then another master reset. During this process watched 7 or so files load successfully. Insert map SD message was replaced by navigation, and all is well! Thank you very much for the video and continued support for those of us that need help.
actually i didn't even have to do that much forscan has a option now under that menu to enable navigation. Pretty cool.

I go to the help screen and my ccpu s/w version shows 4.30.13171_product and no navigation I changed the 0 to a 4 in forscan and nothing changed and when I try to do the software update it says make sure the file is in the root directory it’s the only thing on there

Success! Since I was already on 3.08 I did not have to update SYNC
Step taken:
1. Installed Navigation app via USB stick - The files need to be in the root directory on your USB stick
2. Used Forscan to change bit to enable navigation (follow instruction in video)
3. Unlocked Navipatch.png file - after this the information screen was still enabled in the top right and there was no i in the bottom middle of the screen where the home and settings buttons are and the compass on the display was still big
4. Performed a master reset and that fixed the screen to show navigation in the top right corner with the small compass and the i where the home button is.
5. Inserted maps SD card, in my case it's the A7 map versions. After a minute or so my address showed up in the navigation quadrant of the display. Touched navigation and the map showed up. Took her for a spin around the block and it followed my route perfectly. Got to the end of the street and entered (voice command) my home address and it navigated me to my driveway.
One thing that I need to research is on my 2016 Fusion that came equipped with NAV from the factory the right instrument cluster has a navigation menu and when enabled shows the next turn information next to the speedo. Anyone know how to enable this as it's probably not in the APIM module.
BTW - I used my OBDII bluetooth adapter without HS/MS can switch and was able to change the proper bit in the APIM module. I'm sure if I do some more mods in the future this may be a problem but for now I'm good to go with my BT adapter.

@@innspiron I used my old Bluetooth adaptor. It's so old it doesn't even have the label on it anymore lol. You have to use a Windows PC. The Forescan Android app cannot make changes.

Ok so step one is upgrade sync if needed, install navigation software, run the Nav wallpaper, then use forscan and change that code and finally do the Master reset?

I installed forscan on my labtop and installed all the sync updates and did the changes needed and I still can't get navigation enabled on my 2013 edge. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Backup camera failures need the camera replaced. Did our 2013 Edge SEL couple weeks ago.... takes about 90 minutes.... Several videos about it
i know its a log shot. I installed the 3.10 version. Then got information in top right corner instead of navigation. was able to add navi patch. still showed information. ran forscan and it already had a 4 in the second slot.. decided to do master reset on ford, now says insert sd card. insert card a8 and a10 both do not read. I am not sure what to do next.
I've updated to 3.10, run the Forscan mod, but haven't been able to get the navigation app to successfully install. I've tried a few times and keep getting to "installation complete" but the navigation app doesn't appear on my app list. I've done a master reset. I looked through the navigation app, it doesn't appear to be VIN specific. This seems to be a hard stop for me completing the update. Any suggestions?

Awesome video. I have a 2014 Fusion. I now have the insert nav card button. But my cheap card has a fualt from ebay. Before I buy another from amazon my question is.. I don't show nav software version in the settings screen, I have sync 2 3.10 and installed the nav 3.10 app. But still no software version shows. Did a master reset again stil no software version avaialble? Any ideas.

Not that I'm aware of. Not the globe, I am pretty sure it will say what direction your heading though on the screen.
Not sure of which sd card would be necessary if sync 2 didn't have navigation added. On Amazon I see most of them state they are updates and won't work if wasn't originally equipped. Thanks

I recently came across your video and got an OBD 2 adaptor. I followed the shown steps on Forscan but the big compass kept returning after the screen reboots, with the 'Information' at the top right corner . I have a 2015 Ford Focus, the navigation stopped working after I updated the SYNC 2. Any new development out there?
Hi I have 2012 Ford Focus. My Sync module apim was broken and I got used one from same car same year . But the used one doesn’t have backup camera navigation and auto park. So if I update sync software which car vin number I should use to download the file. My own car or used apim- car vin number?
You can enable them using forscan.

It reads the maps from the SD slot. You can’t just download the maps or copy a card.

Hey John , I have a 2013 Taurus limited with 3.08 so I got all the stuff to add navigation but I can’t get the nav app and patch to read . Downloaded files and extracted and sent to usb thumb drive but when inserting into my cars usb drive it comes up with no readable media files found ? Any suggestions? Thanks

I apologize in advance if this is a dumb question. Don’t you need some sort of GPS receiver? When I bought a new head unit for my car, I have a small receiver that sits on the dashboard which gets the satellite signals for the navigation system.
You already have one. The compass uses it.

Hi, thanks for your well done video. I succeeded to install the navigation. I can see the maps, routes and everything else. BUT what I cannot see is the Navigation button on top right. I still see the button Information. When I touch it, I get the navigation. It seems it work the same way, just doesn't show the Navigation button. My compass is also big as it was before. Just to let you know, I installed with success the navigation app and the Navipatch unlock was also done with success. Any hint here? Tks.

ok i need some help.i think i down load the programs to my computer. they show up. i think i put them on the flash drive. it doesn't seem to find them in my f150 2015. i get no root information. I've done the forscan part.
When you unzip the folder the contents of that folder need to be on the thumb drive only. I believe it’s a folder and one file outside of it. Make sure you freshly formatted the drive to fat32.
Does the car have the sd card reader if it hasn't got navi?

Yes all Sync 2 vehicles will have an SD port.

Navi app 3.10 or Navi patch? what's the difference between both? is the forscan step fundamental to make it work? how much would i have to spend on a forscan license. according to your video I was under the impression it was free software. aside of that thank you for the video

I upgraded my 4 inch screen to the sync 2 8 inch screen myself and save over $1300 but that is the icon I get. Good video thank you, could I just check the navi patch please. Do I need to do that after I've enabled the sat nav? Is it as simple as load the patch on a use stick, plunging that usb stick into the car and follow the on screen instruction?
For the navi patch wallpaper you'll load it on a thumb drive and then load it into the system via wallpaper and then there will be a blue unlock button on the screen. Tap that and it'll say unlocked.

Could you break it right down for me please, have I got this right.
1. I need the nav app, so download it on to USB stick (any need to unzip or do anything else?). Insert usb into port on the car, does it auto run?

4. Carry out master reset of sync 2, via touch screen menus.
I'm not as stupid as that probably makes me sound I just wanted to check i have got it all right.

No. I would have it running just so you don’t run it out of battery.

Sorry it already had 3.10 but no NAV apps so I was just trying to add NAV apps file and that’s when I ran into the issue.

No. You need to be sure the contents of the folder you unzipped are on the root of the thumb drive.

mine does not have the 2 heated seats icons but it does have heated seats. will it still work?
Yes. You can even add the heated seats screen control.

Reading your notes I'm not sure I get this version fiasco. My 2016 Fusion shows version 4.32. Which shows release date 2014. Would I be correct to install version 3.08 release date of 2015. It's confusing because version #'s usually go up.
