Here's how you can enable navigation on your Ford/Lincoln with Sync 2. If you have Sync 2 but don't have navigation you can use this video to enable it. All you need is the Map Card and a $30 OBDII connector.
*** One thing I forgot to mention in the video is you'll need to run the NaviPatch wallpaper on your radio to make things work. Once that's complete you need to do a master reset on Sync 2***

I have software at 3.10, nav app at 3.10 (although it doesn't show in the system information page), have the A10 memory card inserted, and I unlocked the wallpaper. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks so much for these really comprehensive and clear guides. Despite some nervousness I was able to install the navigation by following the steps, without any problems. The dealer quoted £130 just to 'scope the issue' with no guarantees it would be the final bill, so finding these instructions and being able to follow them is fantastic. Very many thanks.
By far the best demo I've seen , thanks for sharing ! I was going to take my car to an audio shop to get this done for £100 but now its just 15£ for odb reader 👍

One thing I forgot to mention in the video is you'll need to run the NaviPatch wallpaper on your radio to make things work. Once that's complete you need to do a master reset on Sync 2
I've installed the nav 3.08 but after the install it's not there even after master resetting it. I've done like 10x I dont understand what I'm doing wrong. I was able to upgrade to the 3.08 software with no issues just can't get the nav3.08 to install
max hyppolite is you used my link to upgrade to 3.08 it comes with Nav App. You don’t need to use that.
@@DIYReid yes I did use you link. After upgrading I went settings>help>system information and I saw the new 3.08 software there but no nav was installed. I will send you a picture of my screen on Instagram

@@DIYReid hi DIY reid, am having the exact same problem, i've plugged in my USB with the navapp 3.08 and it performed its installation but it only toke 10 minutes to install and it was not showing on the system information page, do i have to still keep my USB still connected for 30 minutes or am i doing something wrong?
Just got done enabling my Navigation. Hands down the best video I have seen on this process. Very good. Had a little issue with getting Forscan to work but I had to slow down and figure it out. All in all took me maybe 45 minutes to do everything. Give or take. Thanks for the awesome video.
I must say this is an easy install procedure, Followed the instructions and all worked fine. Took about 50 minutes start to finish including a battery monitor reset, (nothing to do with navigation just needed done while Forscan was connected) probably will take longer to learn how to use the thing. Thanks so much DIY REID for taking the time to make the video and allowing us the opportunity for this upgrade. Ford should be embarrassed for the price point at build time!!!! everything is in the thing to make it work except for the map card!!!!

This is excellent - my previously unusable glass panel in the dashboard now has a clock that works, phone connection that works properly now, and navigation that works (I thought navigation was not possible until I watched this video). I've probably also saved at least 3 or 4 hundred dollars by avoiding a dealer (my total costs were about $30 for the OBD connector and $35 for an A10 SD card). And now I can do basic diagnostics if needed, as well. Thank you, DIY Reid!!!!
They wanted $1200 up here in Canada because they insisted the Sync2 needs a "GPS capable APIM" despite me telling them it already had a GPS as I could see it displaying coordinates.
The Sync 3 needs a capable APIM. Sync 2 doesn’t.
I like the self diagnose myself.

Just activated navigation with your files and following your video and it worked :). Many thanks for sharing your knowledge and publishing this video. I bought pre-owned vehicle and dealer told that vehicle never had navigation hence it would be expansive to have this feature. I was able to do it very easily and economically through your procedure. I wanted to say thank you. I have owned a 2015 Ford Fusion Titanium AWD for about 6 years. Following your instructions I successfully downloaded and upgraded to version 3.08. I used ForScan to make the recommended changes and purchased the latest version of maps "A14", 2023 from Amazon for $19.99 plus tax and for the first time I have a working Sync Navigation system.

I go to the help screen and my ccpu s/w version shows 4.30.13171_product and no navigation I changed the 0 to a 4 in forscan and nothing changed and when I try to do the software update it says make sure the file is in the root directory it’s the only thing on there
You have to update to 3.08 or 3.10

I did exactly as you described and put the files on a USB drive, then put it in my car, and waited till the installation was completed...
After that I put in my new Maps SD
AND IT WORKS!! 👍

What all files are needed? Looking to do this on a 2013 Escape and not sure if I only need to download certain files or all of them?
This was great I spent money from a company and it didn’t work followed this video and I now have navigation on may car worked great just following his advice and it was so easy thank you diy Reid you help me loads
How much did you pay to have it done?
If you are just downloading Nav App 3.10, you are going to want to unzip from the files pop up window on windows. There’s a zipped file about five files deep so unzipping the original download only will not let you upload and give you an error when putting the Ford Maps card in. When you click on the file In the pop-up window there should be a unzip button towards the top of the taskbar. This will unzip all. Hope this helps avoid the frustration I had. All and all, THANK YOU. This works, just Make sure to uncompress your files and that all files were selected

Worked excellent on my Ford Kuga 2016 my code in forscan was different but matched yours and switched on no problem, picked up SD Card great work :)

I installed the navigation and it works. However, I have
problems because voice navigation is not working properly. It mixes yards and
miles with each other, always telling the wrong distances. The information on

How do I install the nav update into the car? I downloaded it from your links including the nav patch on my usb but the car says file not found when I plug in. your help would be appreciated.

Ok so step one is upgrade sync if needed, install navigation software, run the Nav wallpaper, then use forscan and change that code and finally do the Master reset?

Success! Since I was already on 3.08 I did not have to update SYNC
Step taken:
1. Installed Navigation app via USB stick - The files need to be in the root directory on your USB stick
2. Used Forscan to change bit to enable navigation (follow instruction in video)
3. Unlocked Navipatch.png file - after this the information screen was still enabled in the top right and there was no i in the bottom middle of the screen where the home and settings buttons are and the compass on the display was still big
4. Performed a master reset and that fixed the screen to show navigation in the top right corner with the small compass and the i where the home button is.
5. Inserted maps SD card, in my case it's the A7 map versions. After a minute or so my address showed up in the navigation quadrant of the display. Touched navigation and the map showed up. Took her for a spin around the block and it followed my route perfectly. Got to the end of the street and entered (voice command) my home address and it navigated me to my driveway.
One thing that I need to research is on my 2016 Fusion that came equipped with NAV from the factory the right instrument cluster has a navigation menu and when enabled shows the next turn information next to the speedo. Anyone know how to enable this as it's probably not in the APIM module.
BTW - I used my OBDII bluetooth adapter without HS/MS can switch and was able to change the proper bit in the APIM module. I'm sure if I do some more mods in the future this may be a problem but for now I'm good to go with my BT adapter.
Thanks to everyone that made this possible. My wife is a happy camper. Now she has her dream SUV all except for the sunroof................I do have a saws-all lol.

@@innspiron I used my old Bluetooth adaptor. It's so old it doesn't even have the label on it anymore lol. You have to use a Windows PC. The Forescan Android app cannot make changes.

Thank you DIY Reid. I got it working thanks to your earlier help on Sync versions that got me started. Everything worked and the navigation is sweet. II have a 14' Escape and I just ignored the 3.08 Sync and navigation stuff and went right for the 3.10. The A10 maps card worked fine with it. The one misunderstanding out there I think is that we don't just need to set the Navipatch as the background screen, we also need to go to select it and either tap or double tap it, or click on set as background one more time after making the FORscan mod. Then Sync 2 says "Nav Unlocked" and the compass final shrinks and it says insert navigation SD card on the upper right. It is a live and learn experience for us all. What tricked me was I installed the naviogation program 3 or 4 times and it did not show up on my list of installed programs like it did in your video. It must have been in there after the fist install but only showed after I did the Navipatch unlock. Thanks so much. This is so much better than the suction cup special!
KOT...did navigation work without it showing up in installed programs? I just got my SD card today, put it in, and nothing. Did another system reset, still nothing.... Should I do the Navipatch again? When I put the navigation s/w USB in, it says 'program already updated' or something to that affect.
Try Navi patch again and master reset
@@DIYReid Hi Reid... I tried that yesterday with no success. Considered trying to downgrade to 3.08 as somewhere I read enabling navigation wasn't possible with 3.10. But first tried to re-load the Nav S/W but SYNC kept saying 'already loaded....(woman's voice). Re-read all the comments here and many elsewhere, and loaded BT4T-14D546-EE.CAB, did master reset, then loaded EA5T-D546-AUA.CAB, EA5T-14D546-AV.CAB, & EA5T-14F657-AG.ZIP then another master reset. During this process watched 7 or so files load successfully. Insert map SD message was replaced by navigation, and all is well! Thank you very much for the video and continued support for those of us that need help.

Worked like a charm. Had to spend 10 for a forscan license because could not get it to work with the free version. You can run the nav patch.png and master reboot before forscan just a FYI.

Works great on my Kuga in the Uk. I installed 3.10 from a separate link. Then I used your 3.10 nav app install. Changed the settings in forscan. Ran the NAVipatch from your link and master reset. Bought a F7 sd card from eBay and all works perfectly. Thanks 😊

omar Al hagin yes in that order. The install and patch must be separate. I put the 3.10 upgrade on first. Then formatted the usb stick and did the nav app. Then forscan detail change. Then format usb again and add patch.png and finally master reset. The patch has to be added through wallpaper in display settings. Go into wallpaper and press add. It will add from your usb, then go back and press unlock. It’s wrote in blue on wallpaper screen. Will then say unlocked. Do the reset and it will ask for your map SD card to be inserted.

Did you have software version 4.32? Mine says so and some people are saying that is 3.7 but I don't know to be honest.. I have a 2015 focus titanium
4.32 is actually the oldest and the nav won’t work with that. You need to upgrade to either 3.8 or 3.10. My 2015 Kuga came with 4.32 and I upgraded straight to 3.10

@@DIYReid I'm already very chuffed - my clock is now working - so is the bluetooth phone autoconnect. The system was essentially unusable before that. But I would like to get maps working too - I used the latest beta version of Forscan to enable navigation. It didn't change anything except the config setting (which I checked again after a day). Then I installed the nav app (goo.gl/U2g1gw - 3.10, as I used the 3.10 Sync update) - it said installation was complete, but there is no sign of it even after a master reset. The top right still shows Information and the compass is still the large size. I also don't understand what the navipatch update does - it just sets the wallpaper to show UNLOCKED
Ok, just saw that DIY Reid said to click the button after loading the wallpaper - system is now asking for an SD card. The PNG seems to contain Flash code - that has to be run to make this work. Going to order an SD map card now. Fantastic stuff - thanks very much DIY Reid

Hey John , I have a 2013 Taurus limited with 3.08 so I got all the stuff to add navigation but I can’t get the nav app and patch to read . Downloaded files and extracted and sent to usb thumb drive but when inserting into my cars usb drive it comes up with no readable media files found ? Any suggestions? Thanks

@@DIYReid I have the 3.08 nav app on one 32gb thumb drive formatted to fat32 and the nav patch on a different thumb drive formatted to fat 32 and no matter which one i put in either of my cars usb slots it comes up with no media files found ? How should the files be downloaded onto the drives ? i extracted files then sent to usb .

Great video, great information. You left out a couple of steps, but for the most part, your video gave me about 85% of the information I needed to get my navigation working on my Sync 2 system. Had some issues downloading, unzipping and installing navigation software. The link for the 3.10 navigation software downloads software that does not work. Maybe it's an old link. I had to find the correct software in an Ecoboost chat room. Navipatch would have been nice to see on video. ELM device and Forscan worked perfectly. My SD card came in the mail today and everything works perfectly. Thanks! Liked and subscribed!!
What map sd card did you use? I also had the same problem with the download but believe I fixed it .. but cannot get my system to see my A10 sd card. Do you happen to have the link to the nav software you used?
Where did you get your Map Card?
@@DIYReid Directly from HERE - the Ford navi provider. My system is sync 3.10 and I used your 3.10 navi download and it appeared to install correctly. I then ran the patch and master reset. It appears navi is installed b/c I have the small compass and can adjust navi settings ... but the insert sd card message remains. When I first did it I even got the popup telling me to insert the card .. I did .. and nothing. Also - on my system screen it does not list navi software.?

Have you done a master reset?
Followed to a T and it worked. Make sure everything is updated like he says. Then go to ford and get your updates for Snyc and Nav. Then make sure to apply for forscan extended licenses (very important). When you get email add license to forscan through about section and bang it will work.
OK just ordered the ELM & A10 Map card - hopefully I can do this tomorrow!!!

Already had 3.08 so left that. Installed Nav app and then nav.png. Got the reader and edited APIM. Inserted A10 card and BINGO!
It works right now and I didn't do a master reset - Do you think I should?

@@dirtfishingpaul3634 I've not tried working with 3.10, my system already had 3.08 so I just installed the 3.08 nav app and carried on from there.
When you say it doesn't work, can you expand on that a bit? The software didn't load or loads but doesn't run?

Reid, I have a 2014 ford escape but don't have the navigation. Great to see a clip from you how to enable it. I like get more stuff done to my car, but don't have a spreadsheet. Do you know where/how to get it? How did you get the heated seat icon shows on the touch screen?

Had to play around with this and another walkthough as well as install drivers for the USB....but it worked.
The confusion is what version card I can use and will it include new roads they're building around here in the A11 2020 SD card ;)

I updated to 3.08 for some reason so now upgrading to 3.10 so I can use the latest card for the latest maps.

I've been at this upgrade for a couple of weeks now with limited success I did some more research on the Forscan forums (nav system installation problems) and it appears I'm still missing something. I think I have this almost done. I'm working on a 2011 Lincoln MKX. I've got the upgrade done following your video and installing the files you recommend, to the point it tells me to insert my Nav SD card. I used the A1 card that came with my car and it told me "navigation SD card fault - Please insert a valid SD card". So i'm wondering which of the SD cards will work in my system but from what I read I should be able to install every SD card up to A10? I looked further into Forscan and see a few posts that say "for me to look under the settings-help-system information on my screen. I should see a line that says "I need a line showing navigation version 5.67.6 which shows the AG file has been activated. Then have a look under licenses - a couple of lines down from system information and see what is listed there. There should be a */0 line with the word "continuous" which indicates the Navipatch was activated. In my case neither of these lines appear. I reloaded the Gen2v38build15128updatepackageNARev2 .zip file. I received the message these files have already been updated. Then reinstalled the Navipatch file, unlocked the navigation system and saved the change. Once again, I did a master reset. With no apparent changes visible and neither of the two lines mentioned above appeared. Tried to re-enter my A1 card again with no results. On your video at time line at 2.26 you mention this line is necessary and go on to say "I'll put that link in the description". Which of the files you've listed do I use to add the navigation application version? I'm hoping that once that file is installed my navigation upgrade will work. Do you have any suggestions on what I should also be doing? Thanks

I went through the process and it worked great, the only difference is that the address is not displayed below the compass. The system has the correct location on the map, I was able to establish home, etc. All appears to be fine, except for missing address. Thanks!
Have you driven the vehicle yet? Sometimes it displays nothing if you’re in your driveway or garage.
DIY Reid when I drove it, the streets appeared. The next question is how to get navigation to appear on the right hand screen on the instrument cluster. It says compass now. There has to be a way to change that too. 😁
