- The War Veterans Secretary General passed by our studios and spoke on a wide variety of issues including members welfare, the economy, ED's rumoured 3rd term bid and why they fired Ambassador Chris Mutsvangwa from the association's Chairmanship.

I have known this man since I was 14 years old, now I am 55 years old. He has always been a man of serious integrity. Criticise yes, but RESPECT, my fellows.
These are the same man who used to beat up citizens for not voting zanu pf. They are quick to blame sanctions on opposition but they give a blind eye on the killings that were done under the blessings of zanu pf. I have no respect for the liberation fighters. They fought for nothing and now they are suffering and now they are old and our public health institutions are now slaughter rooms. They got no one to blame. Why would they want to be in government now if they claim to be apolitical but want positions in zanu pf. They think kuti takamama pfingwa saivo. If they are to earn our respect they should embrace all political parties and deal with the abuse of power. Let the perpetrators of human rights abuse face justice. What happened with the 50 000 dollars you were given. That money was disaster for the currency stability of this country and yet he continues to lament on the welfare of his fellow comrades. Has he ever thought of the majority of Zimbabwe who wallow in abject poverty and never got any meaningful windfall from the government? For the war veterans to cry to live in an island in the midst of poverty is not sustainable. Address the politics which are so toxic and has led to capital flight leaving Zimbabwe with no investment at all. Crying for your own welfare is not the answer.

While we appreciate the supreme commitment by our highly esteemed War vaterans, it was quite prudent for the War vaterans not to be part of the structures of the ruling party and form a vanguard to monitor and evaluate the proceedings of the governing party and see to it that the gains of the liberation are realized

It pains me that most of these elders went to war at the age of about 15-18 years old and today they are treated like this by people they thought they were doing good for.
