Thank you man, I'm new in the business. I haven't paid for distribution yet because I'm working on my music production and equipment for my independent career. This video broadened my plans for my work and betterment of my career.
I got a release radar push with only 25 streams, but something about the data was good enough to trigger the algorithm. It taught me the lesson he's covering in this video. You need to have good plays from the very beginning.
Really helpful tips, thanks! Funny to see that ST promo too.. I actually have a song called Crazy (Stranger Things) on my halloween album (Endrey - Trick or Treat) which is based on a Stranger Things theme with a bunch of wordplay, analogies etc that you get if you've watched the show😅🎃
Fire, ty for sharing, Nathan. 3,6$ CMP pretty nice! 1,2% CTR pretty standard / good One of the best vids on music marketing I say, please consider making such videos again. Short, easy, no bullsh*t, transparent, everything the audience needs to know to go do it. I have 200k monthly streams but I still don't understand what's a good marketing strat for me. Making 60 tik-toks a month I know is an opportunity but it's sooo tedious. Gave up on FB ads, cuz I couldn't track much, then learned about Hypeddit. Gonna try again, I had the same numbers from running ads. Btw money-wise totally worth it since the number of streams stays constant after being picked up by Algo.
Yep. Just had two songs released in the last two weeks. Another this Friday. A bunch more in progress - have a 2nd project called Lithos I released 12 songs under. So I've already released around 18 (will be 19 on Friday) songs this year so far - and have a lot more in progress.
God I miss the old days of human gatekeepers and scaming labels. At least they exploited you to some level of success. This new world of algorithms and 3 second attention spans is massively defating
@NathanJamesLarsen seemingly easier. Everyone and their mother is producing music and although it's never been easier for an independent artist or band to find financial viability with a lot less fans(which is great), the path to get there now requires us all to be savy with social media marketing, advertising, video production, plus have time and money to write and produce music. Some do very well indeed but not all of us have figured out exactly what works for us yet amid this muck. In a lot of ways the old ways were far less convoluted. You made good music, marketed locally and then went out and suffered through touring outside of your town and if you're lucky to be in the US or Europe, you could hit a lot of major cities in a short span and build the buzz that got you on the label radar. The path sucked but it was far more clear cut and direct. Artists could even maintain levels of mystery people enjoy the music and physical medium/artwork. Music is no longer the commodity, it's the commercial to sell your brand. Your brand is the product.
@NathanJamesLarsen is it, though? It's definitely better IF you can be successful because you can be independent and whatever you do earn is more likely to go to you instead of hoping your don't get ripped off by a label...but is it easier really? Way more noise and saturation now. Success has always required hard work but now you have to do so much more beyond the music and stage show to stand out in a world with 3 second attention spans. We have more opportunity for success for those that are able to do what works right now. Doesn't mean it's easier. Less confused now?
@@theandroidmeme I don't think people realize just how hard it was before artists could handle distribution themselves and required a label. So yes I do think it's easier. Does that mean it's easy? Of course not. It never will be. But I would say that there is more trash music being made than ever so really - if you make great music that stands out - you are already way ahead. 100k songs released per day but the vast majority are horrible and will never break 1,000 streams. Yes there's a lot of noise but it is 100% easier than it has been.
Yes absolutely correct. There are few things a label can do that you cannot. Heck an artist I've produced and written for is currently getting a bunch of radio play in Canada cause she was just willing to make calls and send emails.
@@NathanJamesLarsen I’ll add to this too. I was able to hit the Top 10 on Christian radio across Canada last year just by self promoting independently. It’s definitely doable!

I'm Benefitting from the extra training in P. A. 2.0... If you are wondering if you should dive in, it's 100% worth it!
Natan! I’m waiting your album of hymns! When you release it?
It's been out for a bit :) Look up "Lithos" the album is called Risen. It's not under my solo project.
Golden tips here. 🚀
Thank you so much for sharing Nathan.
Super helpful vid!! Thanks for sharing!! Much ❤️ Nathan!!

Brilliant tips Nathan Thanks !
Glad you’re doing marketing now as that’s so important!
Thank you. makes sense and good to know :3
Congratulations ❤
Viper! I'm catching up with all your episodes like going through 8 seasons of a netflix show
great video !!
Congrats! Do you use a distributor?
Distrokid is what I use - you have to have a distributor to get music on all DSPs
Thanks! 😊 Hope your song keeps on succeeding!🎉

DistroKid is goated.

I've had no issues with that so far. Had one problem that I reached out to them about and they handled it very quickly.

Great insight, thanks. What's your Spotify artist name? How much does 200k streams a month make you roughly?

Wait you're lamenting that it's actually easier today to be successful? Confusing.

I don't know, some of those bumps could be fake streams, better shut your page down and freeze your royalties.
LOL.
You said not talking about videos and then went on to say how you made videos ….to promote it
I said not using social media - aka not posting endlessly on Instagram or TikTok. The videos we used literally were made in one evening
