  • My husband asked me if I was afraid of losing my job at Aquarium Co-Op because AI or artificial intelligence is being used to generate blog posts about fish care… like the ones I get paid to write. So, I figured I would challenge ChatGPT with the 5 hardest questions I’ve gotten recently about freshwater fishkeeping.

      3/5 better than most articles! Only a 3 because it said the minimum for a betta is a 2.5 also and it doesn't have personal problems and trial and error. you aren't going out of business any time soon your personality and real life experience is what makes you fun to watch!

      chatGPT is not a real AI... it's a trained model... it won't ever be good or up to date unless people like you train it.

      As someone who’s constantly fiddling with ChatGPT, you’re fine, at least for a while. It’s super easy to manipulate it into creating false information and tons of errors, making it incredibly unreliable for the purpose of writing informative articles. Using it as a supplemental resource to fill in the blanks is much more effective and an efficient tool.

    Your job is definitely A.I. safe. I prefer dealing with someone who has actual hands-on experience and who can answer queries "honestly" and honed to the individual species in question and not a generalized book read response. We can learn the consequences of certain actions while watching it unfold in real life/video and hear why 'this thing will work faster than that thing' and 'the other thing won't work because of this thing' and 'this is why.'
    It is a better learning experience to not only hear and read about something but to actually see it in action.
    I want to thank you for sharing your honest aquatic experiences and your hobby dedication with us.

    For fishless cycling (assumes you're starting from scratch) plant the tank, add some snails, add some dry leaves. Your substrate and/or amendments may or may not have nitrogen. However, the snails, dry leaves, and live plants will all produce nitrogen and other resources, they will break down resources consistently, and all come with bacteria and organisms. No spikes and curves. Of course if you have multi-tank-itis then just move some filters, sponges, and substrate around and start with a light pop from the start.

    ChatGPT shows a LOT of potential to be corrupted. Months ago I decided to test it some and it was originally telling me "Rainbow fish are known to be good parents" No, chatGPT, they are not. They will often eat their fry. "You are correct, Rainbow fish are known to eat their fry and are not good parents." A single person with enough time and desire could very easily warp ChatGPT's knowledge base in very small and specific areas that would quickly cause it to give lethal advice to fish keepers.

    There's nothing like being able to find someone where you can trust their info. AI might get there, but I think it would be foolish to only "believe" what AI states. With that said, I don't think you'll be out of your job all that soon. But, you should ask Cory what he's thinking...

    So I have a question I’m new too the hobby and have been told so many different things and am so confused. I have a heavily planted 10 gallon but some are saying that it is too small for fish and I’m really struggling. I am unable to have a 20 because of space issues and thought a 10 would be fine. I’m confused because some are saying it’s fine and others not. This is my first tank so I’m learning and am just confused.

    • @GirlTalksFish
      @GirlTalksFish  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, that's definitely one of the hard parts of the hobby. Depending on a person's experience level and style of keeping aquariums, a 10-gallon tank may or may not be suitable for a certain species. I like to look for veterans in the hobby who have personally kept the fish I'm interested (both online and in person) and see what they have to say. Another good source for stocking questions like this is to post on the Aquarium Co-Op forum. People there seem to be really friendly towards beginners, and if you ever have a problem, it's easy to post pictures or video. forum.aquariumcoop.com/

      A heavily planted 10 gallon is enough for a lot of different species, but probably not enough for a community tank (a community tank is a tank with a centerpiece fish, schooling fish, and bottom dwelling fish all in the same aquarium).
      I would recommend either a betta/honey gourami OR a school of 8-10 chili rasboras, kobutai rasboras, pygmy corydoras, or ember tetras.
      You could also add a Nerite snail or some cherry shrimp (cherry shrimp might not do well with a Betta or honey gourami but is fine with the others).

    • @lemonlizard1
      @lemonlizard1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Sunnyshine9599 unfortunately the fish you currently have aren't suitable for a 10 gallon. I would recommend 6 green neon tetras and 6 pygmy cories instead. They look fairly similar but are much smaller and will do better in a 10 gallon
