This video is about pouring a concrete floor for a garage and learning how to screed concrete level.
Screeding concrete is a skill that's one of the hardest things to learn when it comes to pouring concrete. Getting the concrete level is very important whether you're pouring a concrete floor, patio, walkway, or any type of slab.
Screeding is done many different ways like kick screeding, sawing back & forth, screeding off screed rails or pipes and using a power screed.
Kick screeding concrete is how I was taught and this video of us pouring a garage floor shows you how effective and easy it is after you learn the process.

I worked in concrete from 2003-7. We used to screed 1000 yards of of parking lots. Man I miss those brutal workouts I was in my early 20's. Now in my 40's I'd bet I'd pass out if I grabbed a come a long in the brutal heat.

I used to see many guys with a bump screed for 30 plus min to get the bumps out then being to late to bull float it and got more and more behind the time frame by time they were to use power float the edges were bone dry hard watching u guys is like Xmas what a crew blessings to u mike and ur team ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Hi Joe, I learned on 100+ yard pours, even some 1000 yard pours. We mostly do residential floors now, I don't really miss those big ones. :)

Very nice job on the initial pour out, especially with the slope, pouring not too much, but not too little, without any grade stakes to eyeball off of, to be able to screed properly and not wear the come-along guy out.

You should see this "driveway" some homeowner attempted to pour in my neighborhood. Looks like they poured some mud inside the form, realized there wasn't enough, and gave up without even trying to even out what was there.

We always screed off our chalk lines then mag it it leaves the edges cleaner and easier to finish later. If we need to adjust we do when screeding the edge to "cut a print" and always mag before we get out of arms reach of an edge that needs attention.
You make it look so easy like eating a great cheese burger. I have an area 20 by 25 deck I need and want to do but just nervous about doing it I have other areas around my house a lot smaller I think I will try them first and then get the courage to do the bigger pad. ? Is it easier split it is half then pin it or just do it all. And how many guys do you think I would need. ? Thanks for all the great videos

Me and my 73 year old pops pour slabs like this and the old man will solo screed the whole thing better then half the concretors out there I’m going to miss him when he retires 😅

I once worked for a guy who would yell “Poul animal! Poul!” as we screeded the concrete with our come alongs. Sounds terrible but he was a great guy who would boot up and jump in with his own come along which looked about 100 years old. He just loved pouring concrete. Every time he screamed, we would all be laughing, and busting our humps! After the pour, it was Italian heroes all around with beer! ( old days)

Oh my aching back
I think the most important part to the success you’re experiencing is due to not pouring the concrete too high or too low. The initial dump down the chute HAS to be accurate to the proper elevation or else it makes every step afterwards that much more difficult. You have a mucker knocking it down immediately and that sets up the crew for success.
Yea, getting it really close to grade when it comes off the chute is important. It's better to be a little high than low. Much easier to pull some back rather than pull some more back in.

Yes you can use a 2x4. People that do it often use an actual screed board because it will not easily warp and twist. The key to whatever you use as a strike off is to use the back edge not the leading edge.

Very nice! No offense intended, but heigth is not a word. It is pronounced height like a kite. I used to use the word irregardless often when teaching until a student of mine thankfully corrected me.
