Hello Russ, I was able to get all of this process completed fairly easily, however now I am stuck at linking the printer to my PC so that I can send files from my slicing software to it. Do you have any suggestions on how to get it linked?
Thanks for your question. I do not recommend doing it that way...I personally think using the SD card is better, but if you'd like to connect your PC - please try this...Connect the usb cable, open up Flashprint and select Print>Connect Machine. If this doesn't work, then I would recommend updating the Flashprint software. If you already have the latest version, then please uninstall it...then re-install it, but pay close attention...there is a spot where it asks you if you want to install the drivers for driving the Flashforge printers. Be sure to install the drivers, and when you finish installation, run the program again - and hopefully, it should connect next time. I hope this helps.
I prefer to use Simplify3D myself: www.simplify3d.com/ See if you can get a trial first, though. I like it a lot, but I am well aware that there are many others out there who have their own reservations about it. Happy 3D printing!
@@KaijuG2 The only other slicer I use is Flashprint. Since you have a Flashforge printer, I'm sure you've already tried it. If you don't like that one, I can't recommend any other slicers from personal experience - but it seems like a lot of other people like Cura. I hope this helps!
The Build Plate, should you print directly on it? In the package it was included two ”stickers” with the same look as the build plate. Should i place one of these at the build plate. Or should i remove the one on the build when its getting worn out. /regards, Erik Toll
Yes, you may print on the pre-installed build tape until it wears - and you already have two spares to help keep you going. If you need to buy more build tapes, we have them available here: dulaneydraftinganddesign.com/store.htm#!/Blue-Build-Tape-FlashForge-3D-Printer-Parts/p/163317090/category=41842017 I think that the FF build tapes are nice to use when printing PLA. In my opinion, It works ok with ABS too - but I prefer to use Kapton tape for that. I personally think it is better for ABS parts releasing off the table when done printing on kapton. You can also get a nicer finish on the underside of your prints that way. I like to (very carefully) remove the factory build tape completely and install fresh kapton directly on the table itself. I might do a video on that soon.
Hello, Thanks for your question. When you are slicing the file, are you selecting extruder "0"? Also - does the left extruder heat up for you during the print? Thanks, Russ
Thanks for your question. To manually level the build plate, first - tighten all of your leveling screws. Then, select "Utilities" from the Creator Pro's main menu, and then select "Level Build Plate". Then, simply follow the prompts on the screen...it will walk you through the manual leveling process.
@@Esbservice Upon trying this, I've come across another problem: the build plate keeps trying to rise, even after it hits the back trigger. I've done some tinkering and made sure that neither the trigger nor the cable are damaged, and even reset the software, but the issue still happens. Any ideas of how to fix that? This is a hand-me-down btw, it didn't do this out-of-box.
@@cocoahere875 Thanks for your reply and details. I've never run into that issue myself, so I'm sorry if I cannot be of more help to you on this - but I will try. I believe what you're calling the trigger is the limit switch...Did you swap it with another one that you know works? If so, are you sure that the signal is getting to its respective spot on the board? I would think that it's normally open, but then closed when triggered. Please let me know if I can help further. Thanks!
@@Esbservice Thank you so much! I took off the bottom to make sure everything was in the right spot, and the Z-axis trigger was connected in the wrong spot. It's working perfectly now!
The printer's USB port is located at the rear of the machine on the lower left side (shown about 40 seconds into this video.) Connect the other end of the USB cable to your computer and then open up Flashprint. Under "Print", you'll see "Connect Machine". Also - under "Tools", you'll see options for "Control Panel" and "On Board Preferences".
At about 4 minutes, 15 seconds in this video - you can see there's a big sticker on the left side of the printer with the serial number if that's what you mean? The only other tag I see is on the back where the power cord comes in, but that's only general model/voltage type information. Please let me know if I can help further. Thanks!
This can be caused from different reasons. First, I'd recommend cleaning the nozzle...I usually drop mine into some acetone for a while (when using ABS). You may even opt to swap it out with a new one while that one soaks. The next step would be to clean out the material that clogged up the extruder motor's gear/teeth. You would need to remove the fan, then the motor and take a wire brush to the teeth. (When you have a jam, the filament stops extruding, but the motor still spins - so the teeth cut into the filament making them less effective in pushing it through the nozzle.) Make sure that the feed tube is also free from other obstructions before re-assembling the motor/fan. I hope this helps...please let me know if you have any more challenges. Thanks! P.S. If it happens at the beginning of a print, make sure your table is leveled properly, and not too close to the nozzle as well :)
Usually, Flashforge provides some sample files on the included SD card. If you want to create x3g files from your own stl files, open those up in Flashprint and slice them there. (There should also be an install file for Flashprint on the SD card.) I hope I answered your question...Please let me know if I can help further. Thanks!

How thick is that leveling paper?
I measure it at about .008".
You do not need to do this every time. You will need to do it before initial use and periodically if needed.
