FYI... Seasonal Feeding System is not just for birds. Our Bearded Dragon LOVES the BT Freeze Dried Seasonal Feeding System!!

i’m so glad u covered pink/major mitchell’s! grew up with one of these in the house (she’s still thriving, just made her a forage bowl/toy) and i’ve always found them to be pretty different to other cockatoos of their size and have to be approached differently. thank you!

Im glad they reached out for your help and expertise. Any "pet" should be looked at as part of your family and be treated as such. I wish this family the best for the bird's sake. But...mushy microwaved previously frozen vegetables? Eek.

Frozen veggies are fine, but not heated. And don't thor it in the bag, better on a tea towel. This is specially good in northern or the colder southern parts of the world, were fresh local veggies can be hard if not impossible to get. Where I live we get most of our veggies from Spain and in winter it's nearly all veggies. So frozen is fine when done right.

Love the look of major Mitchell!
I have a question I am going to ask here. I emailed birdtricks info but I know you all get busy and any other parrot owners may have suggestions for me. I have a female eclectus parrot (age unknown as she was found outside). She is on seasonal feeding system and tops pellets in eve which she eats well. For training I use sunflower seeds cut in half which she likes but I need ideas for jackpot rewards for harder training that is NOT a nut. I the owner am allergic to peanuts and all tree nuts (with the exception of sunflower and coconut). I will buy anything to try but not sure what to try that is ok for jackpots but not to sugary to trigger hormones. I haven’t tried millet yet (does anyone with an eclectus know if they are fond of it?) and I was thinking of like banana chips but again sugars normally make her more hormonal. ANY ideas would be GREATLY appreciated! She deserves to get a jackpot sometimes but I can very well die if they are even in my home!!

    • @niky00045
      @niky00045 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

try the millet, most small and medium sized birds love it
also try hemp seed, my flock goes nuts about it
maybe leave full sunflower seeds as jackpot and use the others as regular reward, depending on what birb prefers
... or, if nothing else works... give a couple sunflower seeds as jackpot! quantity also counts!

I don't know if this would be a good idea to try for you, but maybe pieces of garbanzo or soybean(edamame)? They've got a firm texture even after cooking (they need cooked, according to Google) and have plenty of fiber and protein.

Other seeds you could try are pepitas and safflowers. A jackpot can be more of a treat she likes as well. So if she works for a half of a sunflower, you can give her a whole one or even two if you need a bigger reward. Also she may find a sunflower in the shell rewarding to open. I think these options are better than adding sugary treats into the mix. Hope this helps :)

I'm looking for help, it's about cockatoos
I had one that from what I've searched and can see
He's a teenage young male was trying to get inside my house at first then never left since
    He seems tamed and sweet
Was unsure how'd he would go letting him in my home so after the many hours of talking and forming a bond I believe I got him to walk with me to my back yard
He's currently having a snooze or playing around I guess
    He doesn't have a bracket
He flew a short distance when he was startled by a door once
But he is young from what I've gathered
He listens to me will follow me my first in counter so I was able to pet him
He was respectful and we were scoping eachother out but he really just wanted to be near me
I don't know if he's wild and I've just formed a bond by helping him out considering it was a hot day earlier with some food and water
But he didn't want to leave the front door
And I don't think he's leaving any time soon or even now he's out the back he just chills outside and will come to the door if I go there
I'm really unsure of the situation and there's not a lot of sources of info I can find for what I'm going through
He's a sweet bird I've grown to love him over the 6 hrs and minimal contact and mostly my presence and speaking but he seems like a good boy and I'm unsure
    Your help would be appreciated

I have a macaw that gets too excited over target training. She will gently touch the stick, eyes pin, makes noise in excitement and then try to take my finger off when I give her the treat. I target trained her when I got her 2 years ago, did it last year and same result, and again tonight and same result. No actual bites because I made her reach for the treat but if I hadnt been cautious she would have bit the crud out of my finger and arm. On the plus side she has a great memory and knows exactly what to do when I bring out the chopstick and say “touch the stick”. All my other birds are fine but my macaw becomes scary during and immediately after target training.

I kind of feel bad for these well-intentioned ladies. They shouldn't have gone all in on such an advanced bird like this. I'm sure a cockatiel or conure would have been a much better fit for them. I hope for their success with lovely Jasper.

Hello! I have a great bond with my one-year-old Alexandrine parrot. Unfortunately, she's developed a fear of my hand and tends to bite when touched, likely due to a past accident during a three-month disappearance. Despite her return four months ago, the fear persists. Any tips to help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I dont think he sees the treat as a reward. He sees it as part of the act(trick) to please his caretakers interaction. I would ration his diet,, Because, He must have endless supply of food? And never ever without it?? Or maybe he is just proud of being able to communicate just how proud he is. I would still guess the first is tru

It's best not to keep large parrots as pets. Their needs, especially psychological ones, can't be met in a captive home environment.

I know you push your products because you believe in them and a lot of other people believe in them too but please don’t knock other companies when they were trying to do the right thing before you were even around Birds. Some of the words you say Could really strike a cord with some people
