Please, take heart and take yourself out. In style or in small ways! I do it all the time. You don't need to have company to get joy from life. If I had decided to stay home because no one would join me for something, I would not have had a rich and full life.

However, I try hard not to fall into the slough of despond by dressing nicely--even when holed up at home. It does lift the mood a little. Thanks for your inspiration.

In Japan you walk so much and take so many stairs for trains that you can indulge quite a bit. However, so much is so tempting that it helps to set some limits--like not every day and not just the sugary stuff. There are so many amazing and nourishing main dishes as well.

But one year I found this French place with gorgeous lemon tarts and was having them almost every day. Killer (but worth it).

@@plursocks I mean it's not to the point where I live though. I check the number of cases all the time and the state where I live ALONE has more cases (by like 4 times) than Japan, not just Tokyo but whole Japan, has had during the whole pandemic. I know Tokyo is getting worse but it's really nowhere near as terrible as where I live and my state doesn't even have that large of a population. Tokyo goes into state of emergency way quicker than my state so going into state of emergency there isn't that bad compared to here. I hope that makes sense.

I was in Korea for 2 months on exchange (was supposed to be 6 but COVID), and I basically never stopped eating. Maintained my weight. Whack.
