The prospect of David reuniting with Korn seems highly unlikely. Examining Korn’s handling of the situation, it becomes evident that they decisively removed David from the band, ensuring legal clarity that he could never return. Behind the scenes, tensions escalated, leading to strained relationships between Jon, Fieldy, and David. David’s subsequent behavior over the years earned him a reputation as somewhat of a “meathead,” making it challenging for his personality to align with Korn’s current dynamics. Meanwhile, Ray, who has outlasted David in Korn, remains a reliable and manageable presence. Reintroducing David, even for a brief musical cameo, would be a disservice to Ray’s commitment. As for Fieldy, burnout led to his departure, mirroring David’s exit. While Fieldy’s ties with the band may not be severed, Korn’s recent lack of innovation raises questions. Is returning to a band that primarily tours and churns out albums merely to check boxes what Fieldy truly desires? Korn, once groundbreaking, now straddles the line between artistry and business, emphasizing ticket sales over its original ethos-a transformation they likely never envisioned.
And that is also why David was considered hard to work it. Because he always cared about Korn's music and artistic direction. He never identify with this generic tame and safe sound and direction they were already heading to, and he talked about that after his departure. Since Issues that his role and contribution into the band's music was getting questionable by others. By producers and other band members (Jon) who demanded that he simplify his drumming style. Jon even play drums on that album ffs! Its not hard to imagine how David must felt back then. I loved Korn, they were my favorite band for many years way back then. But JD really took the band just to himself and to serve his voice for the most, like its the best thing of their music. His singing became the most important thing in all "new" Korn songs. Every song have to have a nice big chorus to sing along but they never were about that. And David knew it and he probably talked about that with the band. By judging their music over the years after David's exit, he was for sure responsable for throwing a "curve ball" and prevented the songs of becoming generic and sounding all the same, with the same structures. I agree with you about Fieldy. "You" watch some of his last shows and obviously the joy of being there was gone. I will not loose my sleep over this, but I really don't see him wanting to go back to that. Its also obvious that his role and especially his style of playing and signature sound changed. And with Ray overplaying, nonsense fills, flashy circus tricks and lack of understanding of Korn roots, I bet he was feeling and getting less and less space to do his thing.

@@andrepereira744 @pato10111 both of you guys make some great points. The evidence shows that David has been right about Korn all along. As much as I enjoy the SYOTOS album it a a complete 180 to a fully commercialized sound compared to what they did before. Then you have Untitled which has its merits but was too experimental for most. Then you have Korn 3 which was supposed to be a return to the earlier sound without David and Head, and with Ray who’s drumming doesn’t fit that older sound style. Even JD said himself it was a bad idea. Then came the Paradigm Shift which was all of JD’s ideas and shouldn’t have even been a Korn album it should have been a JD solo album. Then finally Head returned and even then JD wanted to make another dubstep record and Head pushed back saying that he came to do a metal record, to which eventually they compromised but TPS was still underwhelming and only have a few good songs, if you can call them that. Serenity was another flop with a few good songs. I haven’t listened to The Nothing or Requiem and I’m sort of scared to listen to them now. I’ve been a big fan of Korn for 17 years and finally got to see them live last year which was amazing, but I just find myself listening to those older albums more and more and don’t care for the newer stuff. They really need a shakeup but at this point Fieldy this gone and he was an essential piece to their sound because how to tight his playing was with David, so without Fieldy there isn’t any point in David returning imo

No. He had a band called breaking in a sequence. But quit. He even switched from tama to pearl. It’s a yellow kit. He even has his classic tequila sunrise kit from Woodstock.
David is not the young buck he used to be. He hit them skins hard as hell when he was young. David is an alcoholic still too. David’s early playing was incredible. He diminished over time even while in the band but he made a great point in an interview; he said the first two albums were iconic because there was no influence by management, label or producer. They were album to be themselves and it was all about groove. Nothing was to a click track and they just grooved as a band. Come FTL, now it’s we need more a commercialized, steady groove. He said there was a beauty in the sound early on because it wasn’t totally “perfect”. It was organic. I have to agree. I don’t care about total perfection or click tracks. Just feel that shit!
Also, if you want to hear what I’m talking about, listen to “kill you” demo tape, “Layla”, “proud” or their rehearsal of “Mr.Rogers” (which they never played live unfortunately).
@@lern2swim I’ll give him being more technical but that’s about it. Often off beat and overfilling as a habit from previous band. Don’t get me wrong I like Ray but not original nor groovy as David. Point being Ray is not fit for Korn. Will and is always David. Period.
@@DSKTBH reread my phrasing. "By the time he left the band." David's work on the first 3 albums is (pardon the pun) untouchable. But starting with Issues his playing started going downhill. Not to mention the fact that it became clearer and clearer that a bunch of the playing on the albums probably wasn't even him. By the time he left Korn he'd completely lost what made him special. And nothing he's played on since has indicated that he's managed to get it back. Ray, during the time he's played with Korn is better than David during that same period of time.
@@zenvultra Thanks.
Obviously, you know your stuff, since you made those great points too.
Yea, that was also a good reason for David not returning. Still, I (like to) think that, if David came back, Fieldy would wanted too.
But all this is just imagination talking.
Because honestly, I don't even think David got the chops to play like he used to ( and I'm not even talking about his earlier peak form).
A couple of years later? How about seven years later & four KoRn studio albums later!
If I remember correctly David sold all his drum gear after he quit Korn. I guess he was burnt out from drumming but found the love for it again. A pity he doesn't seem to get a new chance with them but there probably is too much bad blood.
No. He had a band called breaking in a sequence. But quit. He even switched from tama to pearl. It’s a yellow kit. He even has his classic tequila sunrise kit from Woodstock.
David should be involved...and fieldy also.
David > ray
The snare drum sounded like a plastic lid the other night.
the answer is yes i do... but if the rest of the band do not feel comfortable with him... then i don't lmao-
But head was also one of the main song writers in the band david wasn't
@@johnstoner666 Yes they have.
Absolutely KNOT!
yes because their music sucked once he left
2:47 Korn did NOT make those shirts. Those were bootlegs and the band sued over them.
Want Fieldy back but David can be David. Ray is a GOAT and that band should never lose that man as their drummer.
Ray is a more technical, hard rock drummer. David was a looser, more hip-hop style drummer. But Ray is by far the better drummer!
Over mine and munkys live or dead bodies
Just got back from this concert and No Fieldy either. Where is he? The chubby bass player is not nearly as good as Fieldy. This sucks.
This is neither here nor there, but Gojira is going to blow them out of the water if that's really who's opening for them on this tour.
No. He lost his shit long ago, in multiple ways.
Nope !
David was good ...
Ray is better.
This is like asking Scott to rejoin blink 182 .... uh...no !
Lmao Ray is not better.
@@DSKTBH Ray is vastly better than David was by the time he left the band.
I'd love to get David from the first 3 albums back in the band, but time machines don't exist.
Damn, you just went full ret@rd by comparing Blink-182 and KoRn. David played drums on KoRns first 8 CD's (If you include their DEMO CD too) How could you compare Scott with David?? Such a strange thing to say lol
I think David was the better drummer for Korn his style fit better sounded more Korn. IMO
