The change was needed, drummers are the first to wear out because of the work ethic. Plus David had a back problem and looking at him now, this was 2018 his really out of shape, even if he was in shape KORN needed a change anyway to further their career.

@@kevinthompson6986 Oh yeah, the mix of David and Reginald's rhythm section and Munk and Head's guitar style was legendary back in the day. Happy to say though I just saw them in 2022 and they are still very amazing live! Ra Diaz filled in for Reginald and I have to say he is a more technically skilled bass player, check out some of his bass guitar videos on TH-cam with Charles Benante from Anthrax they are amazing. Nostalgia is a great thing, but Korn are still just as good as they ever were in fact their 2019 album, The Nothing just might be my second favorite Korn album after Issues and I have been buying their CD's and merch since around 1997.

Then again, it always happens that when you don't see someone from their late '30s or early '40s for like 10-15 years and then suddenly see them again that it's a whole other person. Well, usually like a chunkier version... People just bloat as they get older.

If you listen carefully you'll hear his timing fluctuations but it's actually what made him so unique! He has a flow that is always in time but fluid in and around the pulse also. A real musicians he is and I feel I know one when I hear one. He is on time always yet never robotic and strict and when he rushes or drags he is always in control meaning his feel in and around the metronome pulse is of choice and taste and not habit. He has always been understood as a keen groover and even after Korn and regular touring of the past he has retained his musicality and musical ear

Ray is a "professional" drummer. The dude is unreal good, he can literally play anything, if you want to have a drumoff with him over "ability", he would likely win, but he doesn't have that groove, that funk, that off kilter style to time that David was able to bring to Korn that made them so unique at the beginning. The first 4 albums were just unreal.
