  • The roman numerals, compact rectangular shape, and slim profile make this Seiko dress watch reminiscent of the Cartier "Tank". The model number is unknown (for now).

These watches were sold somewhere between 1976 and 1978 Ford proximately $225 to $260. I have one upstairs in my jewelry box that I purchased at Milan's Jewelers in Oakland in 1978 for $235

I found a very similar Seiko tank at a garage sale last year for $5, unboxed but new with stickers, but old enough that the battery was dead. Changed the battery and but a Bandini adjustable metal stretchy band on it. Definitely works as a unisex model and looks classy on my wife's wrist. As an inverate watch geek it's really fun to troll local garage and estate sales for these little watch finds, at crazy cheap prices, and give them as gifts.

The best places to buy watches are garage sales, thrift stores, personal auction listings, etc. I found that you'll never find good prices from second-hand dealers.

Going by a recent purchase ( chance Luck ) I was helped some hours later by an English retrorestauration guy on YT who told about these long numbers above the other . The first digit tells the year of manufacture. Mine starts with 8 and by the model this goes to year 1988 . Thinking yours would be 1987 .

Lovely find! Pretty sure the strap is a ZRC.

I would not mind having that watch. I have a Seiko tank but mine's newer than this one.

If you think this watch is small for a large wrist have a look at Muhammad Ali wearing his Cartier Tank! 😛😛

People wore smaller watches in general in the olden days. What confuses me is how people will say that a 36mm watch is too small, yet a square dress watch that's 28mm in height, 35mm lug to lug is a good size for larger wrists. I guess square/rectangular watches have different standards than circular ones.

Such a beautiful time piece! Btw, have you figured out what’s the watch model is?

Unfortunately not, this watch's model number is still a mystery.

1:53 I just got this watch from my father. I don't know much but I do know it's an old watch. Looks great on the wrist because it's quiet smaller to other watches making it an OLD School watch. I personally have a liking to wear things which money can't buy in 2023. I guess I am a proud owner of a vintage Seiko Tank😂😂
