    Finally, a Sailor who admits and shows his love for eating out of a can when under sail and at anchor! I love it! I would venture to say a canned Ham might be a valuable trade item in some parts/some day!

      I'd stack up my eggs and canned ham up against many fine meals in great restaurants, that for sure, good sir!
      And I know you're right about the potential to use it as barter material one day.
      Someday I'll tell a story about places where things like flip-flops and snorkel masks are more important than money!

      Amen to that! Some of these channels put so much emphasis on GOURMET MEALS that I sometimes wonder if I'm the only one who still eats thin sliced and fried SPAM and Blackbeans outta a can with my favorite Hot sauce?!@@skipjacksailing8986

    Hi Russ...... I got tired of chasing my halyards ,so I added a lightline as a downhaul. It helps in more ways too. Under way, I usually just hank it small and let it dangle. At dock/anchor, I run the halyard up and take the downhaul out to the mid cleat to lock it down and prevent halyard slap.

      Thanks guys! Enjoying the Keys. I split the video for the trip into two Parts, and Part 1 (Episode 104) is coming out in an hour or two.

    Keeping it clean and organized. Don't just plan for the expected. Trust your gut feelings or bad dream as a call to action. ...all good messages. I wish you safe travels and good adventures.

      I do trust my gut feelings.
      After a career of having to over-think everything, I like to just follow instincts. "If it feels wrong, then it is wrong."
      I once had someone ask me, "why do you always plan so much? Nothing ever seems to go wrong!" And I think that planning a lot helps to avoid larger problems.

    That yellow bilge paint looks good! I like the gloss level. That is on my winter refit to-do list.

      "A clean ship is a happy ship!"
      I scrubbed and scrubbed (while I was down in Mexico), but it was still dull and dirty white....not a place I wanted my food stored.
      The glossy finish makes it an easy wiping job to clean it.
      For that sub-project--no regrets or changes to the plan were I to do it again.

      If I may, I'd recommend saving money and just buying $16 Ace Hardware safety paints. High gloss finish, and durable.

    starlink?

    • @skipjacksailing8986
      @skipjacksailing8986  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's certainly one of the considerations. If I could find meaningful remote work that would pay for the Starlink, then it's the way to go....
      BUT Starlink is not to be used while the boat is in motion.
      I know that many have done so, but Starlink didn't like it and jacked up the prices. So right now it's to be used at the dock or at anchor only.
      The other option is Iridium Go....which provides an onboard WiFi also, but slow speed. However, it can be used whether the boat is moving or not.

    Apart from the obvious they're disgusting, what are the particularly bad issues with infestations on boats?

    • @skipjacksailing8986
      @skipjacksailing8986  ปีที่แล้ว

      I suppose that if you don't mind the filth and disgusting nature of having them as guests, they don't really cause damage.
      Certain ants can eat wood, of course, but I don't think that roaches do that.
