As someone who has a "lopsided smile" genetically & because I had a mini/mild stroke in my 30s. I appreciate the intention, though some of us cannot help the droop at times, especially under stress. 😏 By definition, self-soothing gestures have a purpose, to soothe oneself. People need to be more understanding and inclusive of those with sensory processing differences. We make great team players, independent workers, friends, employees, when given a chance an Not expected to fit "norms". "Masking" is exhausting & leads to burn-out (which looks like depression & anxiety).

Good ones! I've been in sales for 20+ years and have had multiple training segments on this coupled with personality types. It's highly beneficial in face to face meetings for catering a presentation and countering objections.

This is something I need, not only on reading people, but to catch myself doing this inadvertently when I am chatting with people.
Interesting. Vocal range of one's voice.
My issue is talking too fast. I know. Talking fast shows nervousness.
If I can control it... what a wonderful world it would be.

Vanessa, your insights are truly enlightening! I've come to realize that in unraveling the intricacies of communication, one must not only grasp the words spoken but also delve into the context and nuances of both the situation and the speaker's personality. It's fascinating how these subtle cues serve as invaluable keys to unlocking a deeper understanding of the message being conveyed. But how can we ensure absolute certainty in understanding someone's message, rather than falling prey to misinterpretation?"

Great topic. I sometimes read books on profiling and it comes in handy to be able to read people’s body language, and social cues.

hiiiiii i'm a huge fan of your channel!! i am an autistic adult who has so much difficulty with socializing, i do psychotherapy and one of the main focus of my sessions is how to pick up better my peers social cues and also how to ACTUALLY make a conversation go through!!
thank you so much for your work, it is making a huge difference in my life!!
If i may, i'd like to suggest a video series on how to help autistic people deal with daily challenges in conversations and interactions step by step (how to break the ice, doing groceries, going to a party, speaking up for themselves when mistreated etc), since it is a skill most of us with ASD have missing/need to train.
    Thanks again!!!!!!

I feel the upward inflection of the voice at the end of a statement is also trending. The Kardashians do it a lot and so I think it is something I see a lot in the younger generation where they are always raising their tone at the end of the statement.

I like raising my voice at the end, when I am wanting feedback and confirmation that they understand me, or when I am right or wrong.

Can you please make the "No more Phubbing" video public again. I understand that you might feel that there was a lot of backlash from the autistic community but there was a lot of information both in that video and in the perspective of the autistic viewers. can you make it public again please?

I'd like to know how you read people in real time. Maybe have a recorded conversation with someone and then talk about the clues you used to decode what they were thinking and feeling. That would be great!

It seems like the best way to handle that situation is to "mirror" them or turn down the "positive" energy. That way you meet them where they are at and "match their energy." What do you think?

What if my smile is uneven like it naturally looks like a smirk. And if I smile with teeth I look a little crazy.
Is neutral just the best option for me?

What is a good way to express this skill in our resume?

    • @eugenetswong
      @eugenetswong 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Either list it as a skill, or express how you used it on the job. You can list it in the summary or cover letter, but that isn't as good, in my opinion.
