Invincible is an Image Comics Story created by Robert Kirkman, the man behind the walking dead. The series was originally illustrated by Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley, however in 2021 Amazon released an Animated Adaptation. In this story we follow Mark Grayson, Invincible, who is the son of Nolan Grayson, Omni-Man. There are plenty of Shocking moments as we come across different Heroes and Villains like Atom Eve, Robot, and Angstrom Levy. There are MANY changes between the comics and the show, including new plots for Debbie Grayson, Cecil Steadman, and Damien Darkblood. However, the new moments for Omni-Man SAVED the adaptation and made the show better than the comics ever were.
Omni-Man has appeared in several other series lately as the show gained popularity. Most recently he has joined the cast of Mortal Kombat, but he has also been the subject of many online discussions. For example, who would win in a fight between Omni-Man and Superman, or How Strong Is Omni-Man, Or Who is stronger Omni-Man or Homelander. Omni Man will eventually fight the viltrum empire under Thragg, but other viltrumites like Anissa, Conquest and Loca will also arrive. @@Dimitris_Half The former is a claim about the superhero genre as a whole, the latter is the claim about the generally bad superhero media, specifically poorly made stories within said genre. One of those is clearly not like the other.

My take on Amber is that they made a _major_ continuity gaff.
Amber in the college episode does not know Mark is Invincible. It's not that she "secretly" knows and isn't telling us, every expression and interaction with her character is with someone who does not know. Her reaction to Mark disappearing during a crisis is perfectly reasonable in light of this.
Amber in the next episode, with no time passage to speak of, has known for a while. The reframes her reactions to him leaving and Invincible showing up in the previous episode as manipulative instead of genuine.
The could have had her know, and have her drop hints to this effect and come up with some interactions to naturally build on Mark not telling her being a sore spot. OR, they could have had her not know and be genuinely surprised when he told her. Either of those would have worked, but instead they switched it up mid-story in just about the clumsiest way possible.
I don't really think Amber's reaction was a continuity error. If her intention is to hand him the rope to hang himself with then there's no continuity error. Just a dishonest tactic to determine if he is going to tell her the truth or not. Which is immature, sure, and is likely meant to make us as an audience view her in a poor light. They could have probably made that a bit more obvious, but I don't think that's outside of the realm of possibility for a relationship in your teen years or even into adulthood.

No, I maintain that it absolutely is a continuity error. This is animation, every expression you see has to be deliberately put there. Amber in the college episode reads as being genuinely upset over Mark having left them behind during a crisis. If it were some sort of mind game they would have animated her differently. Somehow, the left hand simply didn't know what the right hand was doing in this case.

Humans make mistakes. Professionals make mistakes. It’s not impossible the a screw up happened. Things kinda of things happen all the time.

Honestly Damien darkblood is way better in the show then the comics, since in the comics he didn’t really do much and was simply in the background.🐱

the fight with omniman and the guardians i 100% prefer to an near infinite degree, vs the bullshit of the comics. it shows why he had to eliminate them to begin with and, better yet, his plan somewhat failed cause of that. wanted to get in and get out, but they showed how tough they were and struggled to the last man.
also think his expression held some guilt.

Nah, I fucking loved how the comic started subplots and then let them sit in the background before being resolved later; it made the world feel alive and like it moved with or without Mark. I adore that in the comics.
Super interesting point! My only issue with it is that it sometimes felt time stood still for those plot points. When they are brought up and there is some big innovation or development, then it's great, but if nothing changed its just like "what were yall doin for 8 months?"

I love Invincible. It’s my favorite fictional story ever told. And the more you cover it I’ll be there!!!
Anyone who's read the story knows he went to a different planet to start over, with a different and more peaceful approach. And the new planet welcomed him as their ruler willingly basically because the inhabitants of the planet only have a 9 month life span, and Nolan is centuries old. They automatically saw him as superior. He then mates with one of the inhabitants and creates Oliver. Marks half brother... who goes from being a baby, to a teenager in a couple of months. If the show leaves out planet Thraxan, and the characters that come from there, I will be soooo livid

@UltraVioletKnight yeah, the Thraxans were only good for gaining quick reinforcements though. They're still part bug, they splat easier than full bloods. Humans are the ones they REALLY want to reproduce with. They are more compatible so they will age slower, but will develop better.

I’m sure Robert looked back on things he wrote and wished he could have improved them but now he can. So many writers wish they could have changed some things in retrospect.
I can't imagine how cool an experience it must be to be able to revisit and reimagine a work like this
Great to see you, this is one of my favorite animated super hero cartoons
Not gonna lie, I kinda like the "leaving subplots hanging" style rob kirkman does. It makes the story feel like theres always something else to worry about, even in the small character scenes, and it kinda gives me the vibe that theres no time to rest. The show kinda solves everything really quickly, like with the android murder robots, so i dont get the same hurried feeling when reading or watching

i remain my point. "Super-Hero Fatigue" is not a thing. People still love Spiderverse, people still love invincible. The novelty of superhero movies ended in the mid 2010's. Our standards changed, the saturation of superhero movies is not the issue itself, the quality of them is.
Now we live in 2023 and beetween now and 2022 we've had 12 movies. Out of all of these we've had 3 succeces. And is that because people are tired of superheroes? Or because Morbius was bad? Because Thor Love & Thunder didn't take itself seriously? The Flash? Black Adam?
Can we truly say it's Fatigue? When we can all agree there was a dip om quality overall.

When I first watched invincible I think I laughed my ass off at the dinner scene "Why was that so intense and weird." before brushing it off as a weird character moment.
Simply: show tries to be melodrama when comic is pretty to the point and dark comedy.

The show and the comic are different universes! (seriously, hear me out)
In the show there are lots of changes from the comic, which makes sense since an adaptation will vary by medium and the comic has a diversity problem as called out by the creator himself, so changes are expected for racial changes, gender changes and story rewrites. But there are a couple of key ones I think people missed, first in the comic Mark's favorite comic is "Science Dog" in the show it is "Seance Dog", there is no reason to change that as it is such a minor thing and doesn't meet the criteria of things that you would expect to change for the adaptation, second in one of the episodes we hear a news report ending with something like "...and he had turned himself into a bomb" which is a reference to a story that happens in the comic with one of Mark's teachers, so the show is saying that still happened, but Mark had nothing to do with it in this timeline/dimension. Third the comic has a major multiverse storyline that will be part of season 2.
I really like that they did this as it allows both show and comic to be their own thing and differences don't matter as they are technically 2 entirely different stories.
Moreover, in season two, episode one, the guy with the multiverse powers (forgot his name) says that in Most universes, Invincible joins Omniman. The fact that he said "most" instead of "all" means that there are others where Mark also fought his father, giving your theory even more meaning.

The invincible war will still happen, Robot and monster girl will live in the flaxen world for many years, Invincible will fight Conquest, and so on. Denying these would be stupid.

I disagree. I'll be honest I prefer the comic Nolan because he's a great guy and the twist comes in way later after you see him continue to be a chill father. He's more layered in the show but can also be very cold whereas the comic Nolan feels earnest. Show Nolan makes more sense and still retains the good father energy of comic Nolan, we just don't see them talk or watch movies. I like that he's a writer too. I'd suggest yall read the comics. The scene in the comic with Omni man explaining why he didn't raise mark as a viltrumite makes sense. The show omits things like Bi Plane having cancer and that his plan was to blow up people which makes his accidentsl death in space, seem less bad as he was a really bad guy. I also like the idea of marks principal giving the name, it makes more sense.
I agree about Nolan. Nolans brutality as a “bad guy” is only 1% of him and everything has latched onto that. He’s in Mortal Kombat and all these what if TH-cam videos. He went Rogue once and he hated himself for it after realizing he genuinely loves his son. So I’m not a fan of everyone running and celebrating with Omni Man the brute. There’s real savage bad guys in the comic to exploit.

It's not auperhero fetigue I can tell you that. Its what's being done to our superheroes that we don't like is the vibe I get.
I wouldn't say it's improved on the source material but the show is aight. I think especially in this new season they are moving kind of quick and trying to bring in archs that don't happen for quite some time
The subway scene makes Omniman irredeemable. There is no real forgiveness for that.
Idk if irredeemable is the word I'd use, but it's DEFINITELY a powerful statement. They need to NAIL how the emotions are demonstrated when Nolan starts changing to really sell it, but it's gunna be hard to do perfectly for sure

As much as I love the show's interpretation of Nolan's characterization (Other than the "Pet" bit, that is now widely relegated to him) the show is going to have a Herculion task to "Redeem" Nolan, after everything he's done.
I think the only way it'll be done well is if he just never returns to Earth, but I have no idea how they'll write Debbie's confrontation, or even the whole deal with Oliver.

Amber in the comics has an ENTIRELY different personality. The one in the show is much more aggressive and because she knew Mark was invincible for much of the story she was basically screaming at him for saving lives.
Ie. He didn't go to the food bank to help so she gets mad - but if she knew he wasn't there bc he was saving people then that doesn't make sense

Omni man is dead
I have to laugh at the idea that these humanoid superheroes would be a threat to modern armies, let alone an unbeatable one. If a melee weapon traveling at less than 100 mps can bruise you, a rifle round doing 900 mps is going to penetrate, a uranium dart going 1500 mps is going to drill right through you, and a shaped charge with an 8000 MPs tip is going to bow you apart by shock alone. It doesn’t matter how “strong” or “invulnerable” you are, unless you can use that strength to get your fist up near 1 km/s, it isn’t going to dent the armor of a tank. Supers in shows are just fat out ten times too slow to do the damage they are shown to do.

The invincible comics are too edgy, to the point that the satire is completely lost within all of the shock value. The show does a better job of balancing that grotesqueness while simultaneously maintaining its identity as a satire of the super hero genre
I get what they were going for in the comics, but I think they just over shot the target with a lot of things. Good to see them recognize what to improve on in the show :)
Show is way more edgy and self serious while comic is more dark comedy with genuine gravitas and build up of violence over time.
The comics start getting too edgy somewhere in compendium 2. The show is already a little too edgy and it's only covered like half of compendium 1.
You’re not going to get a lot of views when you’re calling dragon ball a super hero genre
Views are generated by thumbnails, titles, and general packaging. Not something said in the video. Especially when the sentiment of what was said is that dragonball is a comic made into an animated series - in which people our heroes have super human abilities. Saying goku isn't a super hero just because the term is more associated with western media is silly

Hello dear i have a question. I am a never dying fan of Inuyasha and your content on it. I watched it when i was 9 year old girl. Now i am 29.... time flies. Anyways my question is that about 2 years ago i became absolutely obsessed with your channel as you talked aboit Inuyasha and Yashahime a lot. Past last year i had some health difficulties and only now i decided to revisit your channel. I remember you had awsome reaction videos on Yashahime that i absolutely loved! They were so funny educational and interesting i was just completely obsessed. But now when i went back to your channel i dont see any of them. Due to my poor health i am not sure if it was all in my mind and imagination but i would love to know, if the vidoes got restricted, you had to remove them or it was on some other channel you had. You used to talk about Yashahime episodes i would bet my life on it but now.... i am not so sure. I wanted to rewatch all your content and i did it in a week and honestly i am still so thankful you did such amazing job on my most beloved anime of my chilhood and the one that made me an anime fan and it will always be the love of my life. But as i said i couldn't find the reaction videos. I would really really really appreciate your response because at this point i dont know if i am going crazy or if i remember correctly that you did those videos. Hey friend, sorry to hear about the health problems, I hope things are improving. Unfortunately I took down a lot of my yashahime content because I felt it was below the quality standard I want on my channel or because they were just too far from what I am doing now.
