    From tuning large displacement diesels I have found that timing is the best way to get power but the easiest way for inexperienced people to destroy a bottom end. At a certain power level you will need to get bigger injectiors. Using the proper injector for the power range can make a big difference in EGTs, same power with lower EGTs is something I have seen often.

      Bigger injectors allow a greater timing window for a given fuel demand. In a P-Pump you need bigger pump plungers too.

    Excellent content here guys! EGTs are prob one of the most frequently misunderstood aspects of diesel tuning out there.. Keep up the good work! 😁

    So what about when adding exhaust heat wrap and turbo blankets? This will increase the overall temps but does it not help with scavenging to bring cooler air into the intake.

    Hai...
    I would like to ask..
    how much the temperature increasing after deleting/blicking EGR valve?

    Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) pre-catalyst
    Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) post-catalyst
    How do they calculate the temperature? Because one calculates very quickly and the other calculates much more slowly. And lags behind.

    Can an Tune show an error for the DPF temperature P24C700 ? can we adjust the EGT temperature so that we bypass the error ? Thanks !

    Hi so where do you install the egt before or after turbo on a gas motor and what is saf egt for that

    Hi, Thanks for the info! I want to know the fuel rail pressure, how far can one raise the fuel rail pressure from stock? If max pressure is 1500bar or 1800bar.

    So what’s the maximum EGT is safe?

    • @hpa101
      @hpa101  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There isn't just one safe value as it depends a little on the setup, but, 1350 Fahrenheit/730 Celcius is generally considered the absolute maximum for the vast majority of applications from a reliability standpoint.
      Personally, for my own diesel engine application and how I use it, the head is a known weak spot when it comes to heat and cracking due to a poor cooling design for the last cylinders (it's an inline 6) so I try and keep it under 600c. I am also not racing it.
      Some others in race applications will get as high as 1600F/870c, but that isn't always sustained and they have the setup and sensors to match, as well as the willingness and budget to take risks in the name of competitive motorsport - Taz.

    My 2.0 TDI (VW EA288 DBGC engine) had egt limiter at about 860 deg (celsius), now it has some tuning and its limiter had been risen to 930. Can I consider it as "safe tuning"?

    • @baralgin57
      @baralgin57 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      And also at full throttle temps rather quick rise to limit (930) and ECU starts to lower down fuel injection. Sometimes it is not fast enough and temps are rising above 930 and the biggest temp I've seen was 970, rather often I see ~950 at intensive overtakings.

    • @hpa101
      @hpa101  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That's very high if you're not using specific components rated for it. Check what your turbo is rated for as a start, I'd say most likely while things might not go 'bang' straight away, unless you have built the engine and spec'd the turbo to handle those temperatures, you will be doing damage.

    I understand that the question of how high is too high on a egt is hard to answer.but lets saying everything is fine injection timing etc.isnt there like a sorta standard. eg at idle between 100 and 200c is normal, or eg up a steep hill egt hitting 600c between 800c is normal. Depending on car or truck. What is the point of a egt gauge if we dont know the safe working load. Sorry if i missed it in the video.if i have i will re watch.cheers

    I have a 2011 1.6 TDI VW that's remaped and in the 4th gear at about 3500rpm+ the ECU is cuting my injection beacause the EGT reaches 850C. Anyone know the cause of that? I have no fault codes. Thanks.

    • @hpa101
      @hpa101  ปีที่แล้ว

      It could be a number of things, even something not quite right in the tune. You need to log some data and check then go from there. No good to have us or anyone else just guessing as it could set you off down the wrong path - Taz.

    • @aliniordan4407
      @aliniordan4407 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hpa101 thanks but what should i log? Idk about the tune, it runs in some kind of protection that i think the tuner set at 850c EGT.
