    With all due respect, Luke has a big blindspot regarding Izzy. BC and Chuck are spot on. Izzy is huge within the mma bubble but, he really didn't catch on with the casual audience. His PPV and media numbers speak for themselves. They're decent but, not "superstar" status.

    • @steevoo1
      @steevoo1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      He's sort of a B list star to the American mainstream audience. He needs a real rivalry who will play the game with him to elevate that status.
      Mainly someone who will do the proper media rounds and build the fight to the highest level. Like Conor to Khabib, Chael to Silva, etc.
      Unfortunately, I don't think anyone can do that in the division. Till would be the only one I can think of that has a big enough name as has the charisma to build a fight. But he's came up short in all the big fights that would put him in contention.
      And one last factor, most of the guys would have to go through (the far ahead 1b of the division) Rob just to get there.

I think it's because of all the love Izzy has given to Luke (interviews, watching his content, showing up for his irl show thing) the man literally never has a bad thing to say about him. Luke is so in love with Izzy he won’t admit that izzy has always been “the next big thing”…but when is he gonna get there. This time around Holloway is the real fan favorite, before that Derrick Lewis had some of the spotlight, and before that Diaz stole the show. And it’s true that all that Jon Jones talk backfired because he got dominated by Polish Power. Izzy is big, but he hasn’t been put in ANY situation where he’s counted on to be the sole main attraction.

      Ain’t nobody saying Izzy can’t headline a card…he is and he does. What I’m sayin has to do with what the man in the hat is pointing out. Izzy in actuality is not the superstar that the ufc is pushing to. He’s not there yet…even though he’s been “the next big thing” for some time. Every card he headlines features 1 or 2 other big names, fan favorites to boost the sales. This in has nothing to do with his skills.

    I LOVE Max but holy its hard for me to see him win. The Kattar match was a stylistic DREAM for him imo and I know it was one of his best performances but damm within context. I think Volk has had the tougher fights since, looked better since, and proved hes actually getting better since. If there was a small gap between them after the last fight i think its even bigger now. I think Volk is probably taking this personal and feel like he will prove once and for all that hes better, i wouldn't be surprised if this is peak volk performance.
    Luke wrong on the Izzy/nz thing, - its not because of that but rather because hes a confident brash brother who says what he wants whereas the country has a very stoic perception of men where you dont talk about your problems - dont brag - just quietly go about your business - and Izzy been the opposite of this rubs people the wrong way.

    • @ianphillips103

    • @Ritalie
      @Ritalie 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Izzy is extremely rude and doesn't have basic manners, and he never really gave Jan credit for beating him - said he doesn't have Polish power after losing to him, etc.. Cannonier is one of my favorite fighters ever, and he would never try to make excuses if someone beat him in a fair fight. I have a feeling that both Adesanya and Max Holloway are going to win by stoppage. I can't see Cannonier having enough size and power to really put Adesanya in danger, and the same applies to Max. Max is quite a bit longer and taller than Volkanovski, and it's hard to see Volkanovski squeaking through another close decision without getting rocked and stopped. I think Volkanovski was knocked down recently, but I can't remember which fight? Max never goes down.
