  • Starting Chinese Chainsaw, and Review Chinese Chainsaw. This is a one year review of a used 62cc / 6200 Chinese clone chainsaw with a 48mm cylinder very similar to the 47.5cc cylinder of the 6200 cloned redmax or zenoah . It also covers basic starting of a clone with a fuel / carburetor bubble. This saw was damaged and well used when I got it. Did several minor repairs, and cosmetic painting. Used it for a year. Put an almost new chain and bar on it. Am sending the saw and additional new chain to a family member for use on rural property. For my use this saw is replaced with a Huztl G366 clone of the Stihl MS361. Before this demo this saw was drained and in storage for about a month. The performance of this Chinese clone is short of that of Huztl and Stihl. However, with all of the hard working conditions this saw has seen in the last year it was consistently 100% reliable during approximately 9 gallons of fuel, and it is a good basic cutting saw.     Idle RPMs were rising higher as the video went on. I would check the throttle idle screw & "L" carb adjustment before handing that saw over to someone. Those two settings are tricky on that carb - it can take a while and a bit of playing around but you should be able to get it down to a stable 1/2 rpm of where it's at right now. The other word on these saws is that the 45, 52, 58, 62 and 75cc are actually all the very same 52cc engine - a bit of "deceptive label marketing". One guy's video shows the basic measured displacement at ~50cc. But I also have that same "52cc" engine on a trimmer /saw multi-tool backpack unit and that 52cc engine is one hard working (and reliable) beast. These saws usually arrive with a few problems. As the reviewers say, you probably don't want to own one of these units if you're not prepared to do some upfront adjustments.... and some of those can be very tricky. My 52cc version of this saw showed up with a number of problems including an on/off switch that intermittently was shorting to ground... yes, a tricky one to discover. Then again, (last year) it was on sale and at my door for about $56. ... worth at least 2-3X that once the adjustments / fixes are made. Good luck. Enjoy.

      My 62cc has a 48mm piston and 34mm of stroke. When you do the math it equals 61.53cc . They all use the same crank which is the 52cc crank but use different piston diameter sizes with different connecting rods and taller jug/cylinders to gain increased cc. But this sacrifices/ reduces the maximum rpms while increasing torque. You have to measure the piston diameter of your saw and measure the distance of the piston’s stroke from tdc to bdc to calculate the actual cubic centimeters. If you have a 58cc saw, the usual piston size is 47mm and usually has a 32mm stroke which is actually 55.18 cc , though they market it as a 58cc.

      @@brianbutters7262 Sorry, but 58cc saw has 45,2mm piston and 34mm stroke. Actually is 54.6cc, though they market it as a 58cc. 52cc has 45mm piston and 32mm stroke. Actually is 50,8cc. And 45cc saw has 43mm piston and 32mm stroke. The 58cc saw has the same crankshaft and connecting rod as the 62cc saw.

    Used to be a to the point video on these saws and you could start it in 20 secs.Cant find that simple video anymore.

      Thank you. Excellent point. For future viewers that want to get to the point they can scroll to 5:05. Then watch till the 6:00 point where the saw has started. I didn't make it in 20 seconds, but I do accomplish the basic task of starting the saw in 55 seconds, without additional explanations of course. Thank you again

    That saw is cutting like a mad man...just like my Chinese huyosen! Same saw I'm sure...why pay 430 for a stijl ms271 when I can buy 4 of these?

      Thanks for your observations. and yes, I should of caught that rpm climbing up as she warmed up. I might need to start using a tac on all the saws and not relying totally on a pair of old ears. That rpm could easily lead to premature clutch band failure or snap engagement of the chain. Safety is paramount.

    Hold the throttle open then pull the choke out it should hold throttle open until you blip it

      Thank you for your comment. I totally agree that there are far to many saws on the market stating that they are one size when they are not. Unfortunately because of the lack of control over less than honest sellers they can simply put a different decal on a saw. However, not all are 52cc. The 62cc saw in this video is a 62cc. So how do you know? The sad part is that you don't really know until you take them apart and put the calipers on them. One common clone design of 52cc saws has a 45 or 45.2mm cylinder. One of the more common 62cc engines (example clone of redmax or zenoah) has a 47.5mm cylinder. The 62cc engine in this video has a 48mm cylinder. I hope this helps to clarify.

      Actually there is one with 62-3cc but with different brand name "villager" vgs 43 , cost around 250€.

      Thank you for the question. I did not explain it correctly in the video. The spring assist is the way it is designed. It reduces the strain felt on the users arm during the pull start. It is a cheaper approach to reducing the resistance of the pull. Instead of using a pressure relief valve on the cylinder they use the spring assist. Most cutters are used to compression relief valves, so they pick up the saw, partially pull to set the dogs, cinch it back up again, and then pull like they meant it. With these you use a different approach. I like the old way myself. Just pull it as hard as you can the way granddad did.

    What is the fuel mixture ratio, most of these I see smoke like mad, yours doesn't smoke at all

      I own 2. N use 40:1 right out of box

      Thanks for the question and observations. I agree with both Brian and Will. 40:1 is a good middle of the road mix to minimize smoke, maximize life. And Proper carb adjustment is absolutely essential to the life of the engine. To lean leads to excessive engine wear. To rich you see the excessive smoke and that is an indicator of future carbon buildup which eventually plugs screens or breaks off and damages components.

      They last longer at 1:25 may have to clean spark however.
