Hi! What dimensions for a personal item would you recommend for international travel? The US airlines seem to allow bigger bags or just don't check them.
@jessicaheymans7532 I wouldn’t go any bigger than 16 x 12 x 5 ish. But it really depends on the airline. Always board with it on your back, they are less likely to look that way.
@@ItsTheKellys Thank you and thanks for your awesome videos!
Yay for light colored interiors! I wish Monos would take this hint. 👏🏻
Please review the personal item: the 30 liter one. Thanks
Now that I’m looking at the dimensions, it may be too big for a lot of airlines. I’m thinking of maybe the laptop bag instead of the identical 30L
@ItsTheKellys you read my mind. I watched your video then went to their website to start looking at the personal item, but it might be too big. But also, personal items I feel like are the one bag that universally the airlines don't "really" look at 😂. Unless it's Frontier of course 🤣😂
As a plus sized woman I LOVE the Kelty women’s line of backpacks they fit so well on your body - but I also love my Aer travel backpack as well
Having a comfortable backpack is so important when traveling. I will keep those companies in mind for future outreaches. I love when companies make products for all sizes. Thanks for watching!
I have the older version of the tortuga 40l backpack and have taken it everywhere with me. Multiple times to Europe and all over the US. Their older packing cube(don’t know if the newer ones do this) are the shape of the bag(kind of rounded on one side of each cube which is super nice when packing. Really maximizing your space.
I’m starting the personal item back pack journey so I’d love to see you review the smaller size
I have an old 2015 Tortuga Air which was 28L and could expand to 35L. It has the same clamshell opening and similar organization. It’s gone with me on many trips both international and domestic. I can either use it as a personal item with a roller or as one bag travel. The inside mesh zipper just broke and I’m devastated. I hope to fix it because it’s my favorite travel bag. I get compliments on it all the time @tortugabackpacks #tortugabackpacks
I’m sure it will get fixed!
I have this bag and i love it. Have used it on severable trips and not going back to a roller.
Thanks for sharing! Great to hear!
You inspired me. I am a disabled person. Have had 9 leg operations alone. 1 neck / brain & to many back procedures to count. So i cant really carry heavy bag or carry a back pack well. So this little 4 wheels personal item is perfect for me. Am going to fly frontier to my niece graduation in may so i got to be careful. Kinda crazy I know. I bought my 1st personal item. I double checked the measurements the card it came with said. It was a hair under all 3 measures of the 18 x 14 x 8. Including wheels. Excited to use it. Hubby can't wait to see ne pack it. 😊
What an awesome backpack!!! I too, not into backpacks anymore because it does hurt my shoulders now these days!! It use to never.
I have been eyeing this backpack for several months and thanks so much for your fantastic review. Next, I would like to see you review the Tortuga personal item backpacks like the Laptop Backpack. Please do keep the videos coming and thanks so much for sharing.
Thank you. I have new Tortuga items coming out next Wednesday when they launch!
Really like the way it is designed w/o a lot of extra pockets on the outside and carry system. I would like to see more colors and, this is a small thing, but, would be nice if interior wasn't so white and had a color to show less wear and dirt. Personal size might be of more interest to me. Thanks for a backpack review.
The waist belt makes such a difference in how backpacks feel on your back.
For sure!
Lauren, I began watching your videos before going to Ireland last summer. However, now I am hooked and am ready for more travel! Also, I’m a Michigan girl too so I feel a camaraderie with you! Thx for the fun and educational videos.
We Michiganders gotta stick together! Thanks for watching and happy travels!
I love your shirt! 😂
Aw thank you
That’s a great bag and I have a bad back too so I’m like you, I don’t prefer a backpack as my luggage. I do however like them as a personal item so I would love to see that!
I have the taskin bag pack and I love it. It gives me a suitcase vibe when it’s open.
I’d love to see the personal-item bag. Also, I agree with another commenter: a slightly darker interior so it won’t show as much dirt would be good, as would some color options beyond black.
The dirt is a concern, but I prefer a lighter interior because it makes it much easier to find things!
@@ToriE1073 I'm not talking black. I'm talking... robin's egg blue or yellow or orange. Just not quite so white.
Great review. Would love to see the personal item and a comparison of the two.
Please review the personal item backpack plus everything bundle
Everything in the everything bundle is in this video :)
Very interesting ! A very intriguing video as always !! So much fun to watch !! Lol. I think I am getting addicted to your videos !! Lol. I am not a backpacker at all as it hurts my shoulders / neck/ back ! But,lately seriously thinking about it to go on trips with mom who's developed mobility issues .So,I'll need to push her in a wheelchair. Backpack seems like the solution. 👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶✈️🎒💞
*YES!* I knew this would happen someday! Ebags is okay as an intro to travel convertibles but when you try this level of travel bag it's a whole new world. 🌎 🌍 🌎
I don't own a tortuga but I had considered the "setout" but that bag and a few others were abruptly discontinued and I was concerned the company was going under.
I know and understand that you don't want to become "the bag lady" as I was a travel vlogger when the entire "influencer" collaborations began but I knew if you considered getting rid of _(clunk-clunk clunk-clunk clunk-clunk)_ wheels it would open up a whole new 🌏 of luggage options for you and a whole new level of what a carefree travel experience can be.
This video is actually going to get two comments from me, this one as I'm so excited and another one when I'm able to sit down with my cuppa as is it's a whole new different morning here on the West coast.
(This better not be a teaser thumbnail!)
I promise it's not a tease :)
It took me a few days to actually have a moment to properly watch your video and I must say I am pleased you were impressed!
I had considered Tortuga in the past so I knew a bit about their "outback" and "set out". I'm always hesitant when companies rebrand but this new "travel bag" / V4 If anything, streamlined the original models.
When you speak of details like weight lifters I wonder if you had never used a bag that had weightlifters before and yes, modular hip belts and weight lifters make all the difference.
I wish to Tortuga the best as I'm not sure where they're going with this new lineup but I'm glad they sent you examples so you can see hat leaving wheels ("ka-klunk ka-klunk ka-klunk) really feels like!
I hope you'll have a chance to travel with it soon and see that the lack of strain you feel on your back will actually alleviate back stress even after a long trip.
Cheers!
@IntriguedLioness oh I will never leave my wheels ever 🫣 but this did feel better than all other backpacks! I will admit!
Almost sold me! But I don't want black. It looks good on you but not me. Gray-blue would be nice.
That would be nice!
Love the zipper sounds
If you are interested or if others are - Gregory backpacks already have plus size hiking packs and are bringing out a new line in May - I’ve been researching travel packs and hiking packs and they are making packs to fit up to a 6x and in both men specific and women’s specific
Great to know, thank you!
Please review personal backpack. I reviewed the dimensions and I don’t think it will be doable for the budget airlines of Spirit and Frontier-both budget airlines-allow personal items up to 18 x 14 x 8". So does American. But United and Jetblue both have smaller size limits. I believe their dimensions are stated as larger. If not packed fully, one can allow for smooshing 🤷🏻♀️ please prove me wrong……. Love all your videos and I’d love to see more of your interactions with Brian…. Too funny 😄
It looks like it’s 19” tall, so that would be a good one for me to take to the airport and try it in bins!
OH, I wish I were strong enough to use a backpack...I just got a Sierra Club Trekker as a "gift" and it's really nice, includes a place for a computer...but no trolley sleeve...but it's so nice at 5 X 12w X15 that I think I could carry it! Oh, well....maybe just a day pack....
I am loving that sea foam green case behind your head. What’s the brand. I’m new to your channel. Thank you
It’s from Level8!

Great demo, as always, Lauren! I do have a question about the sternum strap. Does it adjust down so that you can move it farther away from your neck? I was looking at how high it sat up on you, and I thought that would make me feel like I was being choked.
It looks like it’s stuck where it is
Hi Lauren, have you ever by chance checked out Tom Bihn travel bags?
I have checked out their site and have considered reaching out, but have no experience personally :)
I love the idea of a carryon backpack but being vertically challenged it just doesn't work. When I put I it on it goes from above my neck to below my waist. It's ok until I have to run to catch a flight or stand in a never ending TSA line. I have the ebags one I got six years ago and while it didn't work for air travel it's AMAZING for car travel. It holds so much and fits in the car so much easier than a roller bag. They are also much easier to store. So while it didn't work for me, works fine for my 6' husband, I'm still glad I have it because it's our go to road trip luggage.
Yes, it’s amazing what we will do for road trips vs huge airports!
Does it have a luggage strap?
I don’t see one :-/
Are these RFID?
I don’t think so. It doesn’t say so on the website.
