- If you are looking for progressive jump lines to up your mountain bike skills, Ceres Park in South New Jersey has got to be on your list. We were lucky enough to have two amazing tour guides in Brian from @BandE-MTB, and Steve from @BentSpokesMTB, to show us around. The jumps are mostly ramped (rather than lipped) and the landings are equally as smooth, so it just comes down to speed and confidence.
There is so much more to show you at this park but in this video we focused on the jumps at B-line, also known as Wilson Trail and the big gap jumps on the Hurff Trail. All of the jumps have go-arounds so it’s easy to focus on one jump at a time and skip what you are not comfortable with.
TRAIL DETAIL:
B-Line is a wonderful intermediate downhill run with optional kickers all the way down. At the very bottom there is an optional creek gap that spans about 15 feet. If you are riding trail speed don’t touch the brakes after the last berm and you should have enough to clear the gap. Of course, the landing is long so adding more speed than you need is always a safer bet.
The gap jumps on Hurff are also optional and range from 8 to 17 feet. The shortest is the last one on the left. Put a few cranks in after the bend and you should have enough speed to clear the 8 foot gap. The largest gap is 17 feet and traverses a fallen tree. I came in with a lot of speed and overshot the landing, but the run out is so good that it doesn’t much matter. The next big gap is right after and it is one foot shorter at 16 ft, however it is ramped up a little higher so it makes it just as exciting. Again I came in with too much speed but there is no penalty for over shooting this so have at it.

FTR (Follow The Rider) is a new series focused on mountain biking one or two specific trails. It will be different from my POV videos in that there will be no b-roll or music. The goal is to give viewers a look at a complete run from start to finish.

Such a great place for progression. Very forgiving jumps, just need speed.
It was great to take some time to play around with you guys! Loved seeing you get fired up with each new jump checked off the list!
I can't thank you enough for showing us around and giving us the right speed Brian. Stick and I had a blast and can't wait for round two!
Fun day on bikes
You are the man Steve! Thank you for everything.
Great video Sage, that was fantastic work💪. Really awesome jumps and you did them easily🤘. Thanks for sharing and have a great day mate✌
Thanks Christoph! It helps when you have friends to show you the right speed.
Looked super smooth Sage!! Nice job!
Thanks Mark. It's been on my mind ever since you showed them to me.
Very nice! Ceres park is such a gem, hope to see you out there one day!
Right on John! Thanks for commenting.
Awesome job boys!!! Looks like a ton of fun!
Thanks Danny!
Give it hell sage!
Thanks George!!!
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼bro you hammered it!!!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️🇨🇦
Thanks Uzi!!!
Nice video Sage! You guys are such acrobats with your bikes! 😍
Thank you so much Mihai!
My local as a park rider great gem to practice in off season
Heck yeah Steven! I love that.
Super clean.
Thanks Robert!!!
Sage I think you're racking up more air miles than me these days! Stoked that you're crushing these gaps dude, so sick.
You would love this place Zane. Not too much climbing, but a ton of jumps! I'm heading out to Michaux tmrw to check out Waynes Trail (which you did a video on) and maybe a few others.
@TrailSage oooh snap, I'm assuming you mean the shed but that's sick dude, I'm unfortunately gonna be working😭. These jumps look very similar to the built ones on Wayne's so you got it dude. They're just a little scary since it's all rock.
@@splooshmtbDoh! Yes, I meant Fredrick. Thx for the heads up!
Awesome video! I've spent a bunch of time at Ceres, and its like I find something new every ride. One day I'll work up to that last jump line lol
Right on Kevin. I wish this place was closer to me otherwise I'd be there all the time, lol. Thanks for the kind words and comment.
Hey! nice job with that jump! That’s something that I have to work on this year.
Thx Josué, I struggle with steep lips so that is on my to-do list as well. These are big gaps but they are ramped which means all you need is the right speed.
Great video. I need to check this place out.
Thanks Brian. If you are looking for a fun jump session then def put it on your list.
Nice work there Sage!! Place looks really fun. And those jumps deffo looked intimidating... What with those sharp edge landings and felled trees lying every which way!
I learning by watching you Phil ;) Let's rack up some more air time in 2024!
@@TrailSage Foh schizzle Sage!!
Amazing work Sage. I have to work on my jumping skills, I'm just to bad at it.
Me too Luis. These jumps are just ramps so you don't need to do much, but I struggle on steep lippy jumps.
Place looks awesome, may have to check it out this season!
It def does not disappoint, lol. Thanks for watching.
Good stuff!
Thanks Christian!
Nice work Sage! Did I peep @bentspokesmtb there in that last clip? I need to get over there to Ceres
Thanks Sam. Yeah, Steve was so kind. Both he and Brian walked us thru each jump and showed us the correct speed which was really helpful.
