A friendly reminder that Europe doesn't consist of Central Europe only :) there are many curvy roads with epic scenery all over Europe like in Spain, Portugal, but also Eastern Europe in the Balkans and Romania.
Main Problem with Roads in eastern Europe and spain. The Effort to get there is way higher than italy, switzerland or Austria. Thats why I prefer roads there. Nevertheless I will Experience some roads in Spain in 2025.
Drivers roads in Eastern Europe are uncomparable to Dolomiti or Swiss golden triangle Furka-Grimsel-Susten pass, especially the Romanian dissapointment of Transfagarasan with terrible paving, extremely bad drivers who are more into checking bears than driving and a small number of switchbacks, Transalpina is better paved and generally much better for driving with nice flowing bands, plenty overtaking parts and lower level of traffi, but not close to Swiss let alone Dolomiti passes. Did both while in Romania 6 times as I was there on a business, tbh. I enjoyed more the Iasi-Targu Mures trip over Carpathians than those 2 passes (well paved and not that much traffic in the middle of the night). Spain has a lot of roads a lot of winding ones, but almost no spectacular passes (spectacular in the Swiss-Dolomiti sense passes) not in general terms. In the end my favourite there was along Pyrenees from Sabinanigo to Andorra and on the other French side due to low traffic D66 towards Andorra was great and the N20 from Ur if you take the passo not the tunnel towards Andorra. And in the Balkans (Bosnia, Serbia, Montenegro) or Adriatic I did whatever there exists, on the Adriatic coast by far the best drivers road is DC8 Adriatic road in Croatia from Senj-Posedarje, 2 hours of spectacular roads where on one side you have sea on the other mountains and nothing in between. Great asphalt and almost no traffic out of summer season, but still not even close to Dolomiti, so if you have driven all of those countries everything in the video here is totally right. I would rate them similarly myself even though there are many other great roads but I would put them further down.
@@Drive_Nation I totally agree, there are some romanian roads such as the transfagarasian and the 12c highway in Cheile Bicazului. Trust me, the roads in Cheile Bicazului are some of the greatest mountain passes you will ever drive.
As someone who also enjoys fun cars in the alps, your driving worries me. You spend a lot of time on the edge of control and on the left without clear sight lines. I hope I don’t meet you coming the other way as you’re an accident waiting to happen. Maybe get something lighter and smaller and have fun at more normal speeds on public roads.
@ Your video shows some cars coming the other way. And that’s just this video. Also a TT is not a competent sports car. It should stay under the speed limit for everyone’s safety- others coming the other way, those in the TT, and you following it. Try an MX5. Or a Spyder.
I have mixed feelings about your driving style. On one hand I respect your ability and I know how much fun it is to drive like that, on the other hand drifting on public highways has an element of risk for other traffic participants. Just the same, driving sports cars in the Alps is a wonderful experience. I do it regularly in my sports cars but stay in my lane. The video is very well made👍
I Just Love it when owners Take their Cars on some of the Most beutiful roads and Drive them in the way they were ment to be driven, No posing in cities but roaring uphill cornering and enjoying the Views and scenery. I will Look Up some of These roads for the next Trip :D thx a lot
Just for those who are here writing here about Eastern Europe, Spain etc. Been there done those even Andorra. And by farrrrrr Dolomiti passes as a group are the best drivers passes in Europe. You have 10 passes over 2000m in 50-100km vicinity. Even here the video maker is mentioning 6 of those. No other place in Europe offers that many so close And couldn’t believe that he chose the same Passo as my personal favourite, Passo Giau. Generally best experienced in spring and autumn late evening, avoid summer, too many traffic and avoid winter same as above plus snow. And better from Cortina side than from Alleghe side.
Ranking lists are always controversial ... Happy to see that you have 2 roads from the Vosges, I think they are highly underrated. Also thanks for mentioning 2 roads that I haven't done yet - confirms that I have the right items on my bucket list. And now for the controversy: Col de Turini that far down the list? I beg to differ ... ;-) Thanks for a great video!
Thanks for your thoughts. The Ranking is based by driving experience. Turini is Beautiful but due to its small road width the experience is not Perfect for fast driving. Which are the 2 roads You Need to Experience?
@@Drive_Nation Passo Rolle and Passo di Giao. I understand that particularly the latter is a major miss so far. Regarding Turini: Yes, it's super narrow and that probably makes it highly dependent on the traffic that you encounter when driving it. I had very little traffic and actually enjoyed the hell out of it. But I heard people complain about how disappointed they were about it.
Hahntenjoch ftw, love that road. Kinda surprised not to see big hitters like the Timmelsjoch, Stelvio or the Großglockner here. Although i am the first to admit that the Stelvio is a nightmare to drive and an absolutely overrated pass..
I drove the timmelsjoch several times. Its Beautiful to Look at but for fast driving its not that Great. Stelvio is defenitely the most overrated pass.
Transfagarasan is a joke, come on. Very, very badly paved, too many slow drivers who don’t know who to drive mountain passes, nor the rules of common decency like for example if the car behind you is fast approaching you then you give right turning light, slow down and let him pass as he’s obviously the faster one. No such thing at Transfagarasan. And don’t get me started on cretens feeding the bear in the middle of the road. If you call this a better than a Sustenpass then either you’re not into driving or you haven’t been driven it actually.
@@Rocco532 When did you drive the transfagarasan? When I drove it (october 2024), the road service wasn’t worse (or better) then most driving roads seen in the clip. And indeed most people did not let me pass, but the same is true for most of the italian roads. When I was in romania, no one was feeding bears, there were a lot of signs stating that it is not allowed to feed the bears
@ I drove it in October 2023., then in August and September of 2024., if I could attach a video of bear feeding I would as I have it on the phone. If we’re talking about Romania Transalpina is much better as a drivers road. Pavement is great, and lots of space to overtake. But again compared to the Susten pass you mention as a drivers enjoyment you can’t compare it to that area as you have Furka and Grimsel just next to each other, with Transfagarasan you just have that.

5 minutes, to the spot
Im surprised not to see a single pass in Spain, the country wirh the best quality roads in Europe.
Feel free to provide a list of places we should drive. I’ve only discovered the Ma-10 in Mallorca and it was stunning.

Beautiful shots and scenery ^^

Maybe you could try LAPOLE onboard cam mount next time. It offers a more racing and stable perspective.
Just mainstream roads(most of them) and all in the alps or close by(Vosges), you are missing out a lot ;)
Why did u show the least beatyful part of the sustenpass, higher up its much more majestetic.
0.5 national road 304, Vila Real Portugal, trust me… ford motorsport have a video there
