yes they have insane stats with all the buffs and honesty a fully upgraded star dragon (red skill tree, tech buffs, follower that gives 10md) actually kills anything one on one
50% more expensive, Tier 5 in comparison to 4, bolt throwers better than the breath attacks, most of the enemies are dead before reaching melee where as Star Dragons do their damage in melee.
@@sirgaz8699 1. you can get a dragon willed prince and get the building wich makes drsgons even cheaper 2. high elves don't have money problems when you get to the high tier buildings 3. are you actually trying to say a eagle claw catapult stack is a good doomstack?
Legend doesn't like dragons in general, they're slow, big hitboxes, breath attacks need micro management and such reasons i heard from him in previous streams. But he did say that they're really strong and will win most fight. Personally, i think it's a fun doomstack for high elves in the late game when you're bored of sister of avelorn.
Have you tried running minotaur units with 4 or more heroes with unsated bloodthirst? It's a trait that increases the weapon strength of all minotaur units in your army by 10% and it stacks. I just played through a beastmen campaign and my minotaurs had weapon strength of 230 and melee attack of 95 when near both of my gorebulls since both of them give all units near them a +16 bonus to melee attack. They've also got leadership of 111 because of my 2 gorebulls,so they're basically unbreakable.
One thing to note, Norsca can do the -Leadership doomstack as well. They get the 'Misshapen' trait on all heroes / Lords, which gives -5 Leadership to all enemies in region. They also get access to both Death and Shadows, which offers -8 Leadership/-30 Armor in an AoE. Lastly, with a Marauder Chieftain, you get access to two key skills - one, Seduction of the Serpent, gives your Lord an on-hit debuff that reduces leadership even further, and the other being a Mammoth mount. The mammoth gives you Siege Attacker, inflicts Fear/Terror, and lets you kill unbreakable units. It's like the Beastmen doomstack, except instead of overpowering stench it's your horrifying, misbegotten visage that drives them from the field.
I agree with all your choices but the Necrofex Collosus should have been given an honourable mention if not a place in top 5.. Merry Christmas to you and your family..
Honestly i am sad there wasn't any necrofex colossus doom stack spam in this top 5. I got like 3 armies of them in my dreadfleet campagin, at this point, i am just going around and razing everything cause nothing can stop me.
No Necrofex Collosus on the list? Im shocked. Wasnt long ago that Legend was saying it's the strongest doomstack by far, and only sometimes consodering whether mammoths might be better. But to not even make it in the top 5? Also, Chaos shrine mammoths also have the benefit of being unbreakable and will fight till the last drop of that massive hp pool. So saying that mammoth spam can't do anything against beastmen doomstack is not necessarily true if you use warshrine mammoths.
i think these are pretty poor doom stacks made from one unite. First off all chaos can get a doomstack of heavy infantary way earlier in the game, by turn 15-20 that beats everything it meets... most of these are only available late game, they are also super expensive, and not really much stronger or more versitle. they all have massive weaknesses. At that point in the game you might as well mix in some other units. There is very little value in running these setups.
@@waldemarmarwalde6817 I've played all difficulties. Im not sure how you think that matters? Unless you're saying on easy this is a perfect strategy. Im not saying you can't use these stacks, I'm saying at the point on the game where you can build and afford these stacks you can get better doomstacks by taking more variation, and if you want a 1 unit stack you should go chaos, because that heavy infantry will win any siege or open battle and can be build by turn 15. All these armies have clear weaknesses, or struggle taking forts.
@ LegendofTotalWar LoL after years of dismissing abilities like lower leadership - you managed to surprise me ! well done on the number one and this video !
Wait, so you mentioned in your video, that a mammoth can easily kill a unit of phoenix guard. Now a while ago I praised phoenix guard, because it was the only unit which managed to fully brace against a mammoth charge and take close to no casualties, whilst fully killing it (Tbf I don't play on Legendary and it was my phoenix guard against the enemy mammoth) Maybe somethings have changed since then, but for me phoenix guard did great against mammoths. Edit: No Sister of Averlorn Doomstack? That was surprising....
One on One is different from stack to stack. A mammoth can't stun lock a unit of phoenix guard but 5-6 of them would stun lock and charge through 5-6 PG units. Once in melee, due to wide area of attack and disruption, the 18 mammoths simply hit and push the guards away most of the time before they have any chance to deal damage.
@@huntermad5668 Yeah, sounds fair. But then again, in SP campaign you won't encounter a Mammoth Doomstack. The most mammoths I've ever seen in an AI army was like... 4 maybe 5? The Norscan AI likes Giants tho
1 the Ai is dumb 2 when you rool eith a doomstack of mamoths you will never fight a full stack of phoenix guard 3 it's about what performs better for you not agains you, like ye maybe a full stack of phoenix gard could beat a mammoth stack but you would do much better with a mammoth stack youself because mammoths are much better in a siege agains other mele infantry and agains missiles. It'd like you would say criptonite is the best because it beats supermen but in fact criptonite is useless agains anything but supermen.
I actually find ancient stegadon spam with engine of the gods to be far more effective than normal stegadons, mostly due to how the ai won't charge at you at the beginning of the battle, and will stand in place. This time gives you the time to spam earthblood/life bloom cheese (switch-cancel spells before every cast = endless healing) heals on your stegs, which brings them to full health before the melee. This isnt even mentioning the 17-19 wind spells that you get to spam like crazy. Not only does the spell decimate infantry, but pretty much anything above 20 models per unit gets wrecked by the wind spell. When you combine this aoe spell for infantry damage with certain lore of beasts and lore of heavens debuffs it really can't be stopped. One other thing to be mentioned as well is that this unit is ranked more highly for some reason in comparisons for the "faster and stronger enemies nearby" and "forces outnumbered by the enemy" penalties which can be huge potential caps since the first penalty can reach a max of -26 very easily and the second has essentially no cap (I've seen it at -72 and it was still going higher). In fact, I've seen a full stegadon army route vs a dark elf army that only had a few sisters of slaughter and some cold one cav because of these penalties.
Such a wasted opportunity with the final stack, i never knew such "doomstack" ever existed, but how could you not call it the "UGA BUGA stack"? Like you said, all you have to do is walk up to them and cast UGA BUGA (doom and darkness) and the whole army routs, the most hilarious doomstack i have ever seen really.
Waaay too expensive I think , but they make a very strong doomstack nonetheless , if like 18 dragons breathed on an army before engagement they'll do a ton of damage .
He answered in streams before. Dragons are expensive (not a big problem if you play as high elves), slow, breath attacks require a lot of micro management and they have really big hit boxes.
Honestly I think the sisters of avelorn deserves a spot on the top 5. With teclis and a light mage, that's 2 nets of amyntok you can overcast to net basically the entire army in some circumstances, by the time that spell is over most armies would be dead, and Teclis can heal off any ranged damage. Or you could use a regular lord with the puntive trait (+20%missile damage for army, -10% missile resistance to enemy armies), and 2 light wizards and 1 life wizard for the nets and heals. EVEN better is if your mages have the protective or negator traits, which just gives them access to spells outside of their specialty that would help a lot!

Finally the long anticipated doomstack video
Sadly no snikch disciplined assassin doomstack on the list:( merry christmas Legend, thanks for the amazing content!
The vampires don't have the -8 from devolve, but they have access to "The Withering" from the lore of Shadows that also applies the same penalty.
Ah man, I called Count Noctilus and a Necrofex Collosi doomstack before the video and I was wrong.
0:01 Him: “Legend of Total War here”

I do think the Star Dragon Doomstack should be here, I can absolutely understand that you don't like them, but they wreck nearly anything (example stegadon doomstack)
Worth noting that high elf's get lore of life too!
yes they have insane stats with all the buffs and honesty a fully upgraded star dragon (red skill tree, tech buffs, follower that gives 10md) actually kills anything one on one
50% more expensive, Tier 5 in comparison to 4, bolt throwers better than the breath attacks, most of the enemies are dead before reaching melee where as Star Dragons do their damage in melee.
@@sirgaz8699 1. you can get a dragon willed prince and get the building wich makes drsgons even cheaper
2. high elves don't have money problems when you get to the high tier buildings
3. are you actually trying to say a eagle claw catapult stack is a good doomstack?
Legend doesn't like dragons in general, they're slow, big hitboxes, breath attacks need micro management and such reasons i heard from him in previous streams. But he did say that they're really strong and will win most fight.
Personally, i think it's a fun doomstack for high elves in the late game when you're bored of sister of avelorn.
The cheese on the top 1 doomstack is absolutely dripping my entire being shivers lmao. How to win by scaring the enemy away - BE EXTRA MUSKY.
Ironically slayers would be a good counter to the beastmen doomstack
Steam Tanks doomstack
Beastmen remind me of that 1 MMA fighter who didn't shower for weeks and rubbed fish on himself to give him the edge.
Beastmen: Fear....the city is rank with it!
They're probably just smelling themselves.

Top 5 nerfstacks
Hopefully not.
Thanks dude, appreciate the effort that went into making this video
Need an update
The video I have been waiting for.
love it
One thing to note, Norsca can do the -Leadership doomstack as well.
Finally!!!!
Yeah!!!! Here we go!! What a great X-mas present. Thanks Legend.
"Beastmen are the weakest faction in the game"
Me, always struggling with getting destroyed by beastmen
*nervous sweating* 😅😅😅😅
Do not understood too. The only reason why they weak - hord faction sucks in whtw2. But beastman have very strong roster imo.
Highly disagree with your number one pick, Grail reliquae spam is the way to go, and deserves the top pick for a doomstack.
Yes-yes more videos
I agree with all your choices but the Necrofex Collosus should have been given an honourable mention if not a place in top 5..
Merry Christmas to you and your family..
Try Ikit Claw with Sword of Khaine.
I was totally not expecting him to not include necrofex colossus
Honestly i am sad there wasn't any necrofex colossus doom stack spam in this top 5. I got like 3 armies of them in my dreadfleet campagin, at this point, i am just going around and razing everything cause nothing can stop me.
necrofex are bad in melee...
Wait a minute, I didn't see a star dragon doom stack, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I always feel proud supporting LegendofTotalWar , he admits to his faults and I feel like his honesty is admirable. Even his nasty smelling cheese.
i think these are pretty poor doom stacks made from one unite.
On which difficulty are you playing?
@@waldemarmarwalde6817 I've played all difficulties.
Im not sure how you think that matters? Unless you're saying on easy this is a perfect strategy. Im not saying you can't use these stacks, I'm saying at the point on the game where you can build and afford these stacks you can get better doomstacks by taking more variation, and if you want a 1 unit stack you should go chaos, because that heavy infantry will win any siege or open battle and can be build by turn 15. All these armies have clear weaknesses, or struggle taking forts.
@
LegendofTotalWar LoL after years of dismissing abilities like lower leadership - you managed to surprise me ! well done on the number one and this video !
Wait, so you mentioned in your video, that a mammoth can easily kill a unit of phoenix guard. Now a while ago I praised phoenix guard, because it was the only unit which managed to fully brace against a mammoth charge and take close to no casualties, whilst fully killing it (Tbf I don't play on Legendary and it was my phoenix guard against the enemy mammoth)
Maybe somethings have changed since then, but for me phoenix guard did great against mammoths.
Edit: No Sister of Averlorn Doomstack? That was surprising....
Did you test it in custom battle or in campaign? Because obviously in campaign Mammonths massibly benefiting from op leader bonuses.
@@gilgamesh4869 It was in a Vortex campaign and it wasn't a "test", it was a normal battle like, I got attacked by a Norscan Army
Full stack of necrofex colossus should have been number 1 in this list.
Merry Christmas, Medieval Kingdoms 1212 Mod Review? : D
I will just add that engines with death laser from the sky are far cooler than skink bois shooting darts, thus its a superior doomstack.
I've wanted this for sooooooo long , thank you .
What about dragon stacks?
Waaay too expensive I think , but they make a very strong doomstack nonetheless , if like 18 dragons breathed on an army before engagement they'll do a ton of damage .
He answered in streams before. Dragons are expensive (not a big problem if you play as high elves), slow, breath attacks require a lot of micro management and they have really big hit boxes.
0:42 Bretonnia - Lord (Grail Vow completed), damsel of life (disciplined), Royal Hippogriff spam -- requires good micro

6:08 Lizardmen - Lord (Life Slann), Skink Priest of Heavens (disciplined), Saurus Scar-Vet (disciplined), skink chief (disciplined), stegadon (Tier 4) spam -- recommend lightning strike

9:30 (distant horns of oliphaunts) Rohan: "CHAAARGE!!"
Isn't it cool that even that first place Beastmen doomstack has something that would absolutely wreck it? A full slayer army led by Ungrim and Gotrek.
i still feel a Waywatcher Doomstack can be pretty disgusting. In fact, it deals so much ranged damage, it can definitely wipe Single Entities Fast.
What happened to the Vampire Coast's Necrofex Colossus spam? In the past you advocated it as the strongest army in the game! Awesome vid btw.
