I am really excited by this attempt to place an i7-12700H gaming CPU into an ultrabook like the Asus VivoBook S 14X. In order to show how it performs to other ultrabooks in its category, I brought out last year's Asus VivoBook S14. I love a lot about the latest VivoBook S 14X, but there is one area that is lacking in using an H-Series CPU inside of an ultrabook design.

I bought the i7-12700H/12GB/512GB vérsion 3 days ago, mainly for programming and I can say it is just amazing so far. Man this is a beast in such a small form factor. Had to go for gaming machines in past for H processor which are heavy like a brick. But this one is super in all aspects. I am loving it
How's the 14x with ryzen 9 5900hx and 3050ti??

@@PratapShinde that's okay buddy, how about burn in tho? Have you faced it ? Do you use some software with static images like excel or photoshop because I'm scared that if I use software like that it might cause burn in and ruin that beautiful display
@@iggy5022 I don't use photoshop but with everything else I haven't seen any of that. I use it mainly for Java development and use multiple IDE and databases and some other tools. I have not seen that happen with those tool

Thanks for the video. There are some confusing parts as your benchmark charts describe the 12700h on the 14X as a 12000h, and also the multi core CPU scores are way below the larger 12700h laptops, which you really don't sufficiently highlight or explain. Is the chip really throttled so much during extended runs? Kind of makes me wonder why they bother putting it into a smaller chassis.

Could you test Vivobook Pro 14X? I would like to use it for programming but also sometimes for play rather older games like CS:GO, Dota 2, or smth like that. I'm wondering if it won't be too hot as it is very similar to S 14X but also it has additional RTX 3050Ti 35W.
PS. If this 14X does throttle, maybe it's possible to undervolt it with Intel XTU?

Buddy these new ASUS laptops have feeble speaker sound, maybe it is the AI noise cancellation or low watt downward facing speakers, idk but please raise/ highlight this ..
Bought this just the other day. So far amazing. Snappy. Amazing screen. No flicker and pretty bright. Vivid colors. Tried to do what I could and it now idles from boot around 4.5 gb ram used. And on Newegg on sale frequently it’s an unbeatable price. Plan to get more ram inside if I need it.

The S 14X and S 16X models seem to be just what I am after, but they just don't seem to be available in the UK. In fact, there seem to be a lot of ASUS models that, although shown on their UK website, are just not available here at all. Any other parts of the world, Europe, Asia, US having issues getting hold of these models?
Estonia, Finland - same problem and only in December in one shop in Estonia released VivoBook with intel 12 gen. 🤦♂️ (Other tech-markets have ryzen 5th or intel 11 generation). And this situation for Asus Vivobook series only.

I almost want to buy a zenbook 14 oled.. but saw this 14x vivobook with better specs... what is the benefit of the zenbook, the build quality?
I'm looking at this product now and it says DDR5-4800 on the pics, but DDR4 3200 on the spec page.

It is NOT all aluminium chasse. Only the top cover is made from aluminium. This is not your only video where you say auminium to plastic and it is so wrong.
Btw, why the bottom went holes are covered with sticker. i have a very similar Vivobook and only the round fan hole is not covered in the bottom in the inside of the plastic bottom plate.

95 watt charger... That pretty much answers the question of whether they can push the 12700h or not. The 12700h needs to drink down close to 120w to reach peak performance.
What is the max upgradable RAM size for the 2022 S 14X RAM? It has 4GB soldered?
Either 4GB DDR4 RAM soldered (max 12 GB) or 8GB soldered (max 16GB). Really unfortunate it doesn't go up to 32 GB.

@@davidletterboyz The Vivobook Pro 14X OLED 2022 (N7401) supports up to 32GB RAM (non-expandable).
I guess it supports 24 gb max cuz 8 gb is soldered and a 16 gb upgrade
This one has 8GB soldered, so u can swap the 4gb with 16gb and make it 24gb. I haven't done it myself but I read it on Costco reviews. Hope that helps. Ok am not sure if Ddr5 can be used, because the one soldered is ddr4

I just bought S14X the battery is really terrible, drain really fast even just web browsing.... drop from 80% to 25% in 2 hrs.
I am wondering how to use for at least 4-6 hrs. as a review. ^_^
anyway, the body and display are really amazing, but the power consumption is really disappointed.
try switching a battery might be the battery problem
Make sure you are turning off the 120 hz and bringing it down to 60 hz. while on battery mode. You can have it done automatically via ASUS app. You can also put it on whipser mode. You can also go down to 1080p resolution. Won't look to different with a 14.5 screen.
just look at the 2 screens. The one on the right is the laptop screen of the past. Welcome to the world of OLED.
