Only ignored the closed area as it is to permanently deface one of the most beautiful peaks in Utah. Nobody asked for 15 ugly metal towers to go up on that ridge.
Hey man! Awesome accomplishment! I mean no disrespect and want to have this come across as more of a PSA. If you were aware of the closures from monte cristo/superior to Cardiff, it would have been wise to hold off on the attempt this year. Myself and many others had to postpone our WURL attempt to respect the closures that Alta and UDOT made very clear to the public. Awesome achievement, but let’s all do our part in following the requests of those making our mountains safe.
We would have obeyed the closure if it wasn’t to deface one of Utah’s most beautiful peaks by adding 15 clown towers making it look like an industrial park.
@@Summit_Seeker I hear you man. Those peaks are incredible! They are building the towers as a safety measure towards avalanche prevention etc. Again, no shade. It is a huge accomplishment! Just wanting to support our local mountains and the organizations that keep them safe for us.
Wow! Insane accomplishment! The fact they are putting those towers up in that sacred area is criminal! UDOT is hell bent on destroying Little Cottonwood.
@@Summit_Seeker I hella get where your coming from man, I don't think anybody wants to see towers up there. But with all due respect I think we need to acknowledge the reality of the situation. In the 2023 winter there were like 30 slides that hit roads in the canyon in only a week. So its not about people dying in the backcountry like at all, ironically its about them killing/trapping someone else. If you want to have a ski resort in a high risk avy zone, especially one that has one entrance/exit amongst sheer peaks, people become responsible for the safety of citizens that ski and live/vacation to the resorts. Not only responsible, but inclined by the fear of lawsuits, reduced property values, and commerce. I've only heard of the issue and don't actually live there or ski alta/snowbird. But if the people that do live there and ski have valid concerns about their safety, which it sounds like they do, then you aren't a karen or "bored" for recognizing that. Its just that people can't expect to have residences and a ski resort in little cottonwood if its actually setting people up for harm or even death. You could just tell people to not drive there during high risk, but the fact that those who live or stay there don't have that choice, and that people don't want to get rid of alta and actually tend to love it, makes that argument irrelevant. That said, I'd still send as well lol let's just be honest. There is virtually zero chance of you harming anybody by the hike unless you are careless and kick rocks down into workers, which is pretty damn easy to avoid. But you can't blame someone for looking out for the safety of their workers. I could see why someone would be fucking pissed if some kid almost hit them with a rock while their trying to do a job in good faith. But if it were me, and getting hit by a rock is such a rare chance, I'd be fucking pissed that their closing it. It just becomes petty at a certain point when its for soft reasons. So if people have something to say, tell them that. But it doesn't look good to make the argument that the towers are lunacy (even though I can't imagine looking at them). Its the closure of the area that is.
