    I find this after 7 years. We got the 06 Touareg V8 in 2017 with 106k. I had the dealer do timing belt, water pump, thermostat. Now in may 2024 its got 163k. Noisy cam tensioners at start up, and exhaust flex pipe is leaking a lot of noise. And the front diff has a bad axel bearing, making it noisy on accel & decel only. Its got a sweet spot that is noise free. Time to pull motor out. I really like this SUV. Except the 15 mpg. I have done the brakes, & frequent oil changes. It still drives great. New AGM battery too.

    Love the video as it showed the main points. It also filled me in on how hard this job is. I might just take off the valve covers and inspect the shoes. If all is good I will just leave alone. Lucky you caught yours before a valve crash at these are interference engines.

    those German engineers and their sense of humor...Thank you for the Video...had a friend just pick up an '04 V8 Egg w/~112K and we are hoping all is well in the motor. Doing research to see if/when the timing best has been changed has not been easy. Also, we may pull the cam covers to check the cam tensioner guides so we are not met with the same surprise(s) you had. He's got a few other projects to sort out, so me may leave this one for a "long" weekend; luckily there is one coming up soon. Cheers.

    These usually start to fail in the high 100k mile mark sometimes later. The right oil and a 5000 mile or less oil change interval should help. I was changing just the filter at 5k and both oil and filter every 10k depending on how the oil looked at the 5k point.

    Mine was doing it at start up now it is sounding bad the whole time. I'm sure the tensioner chain tensioner needs replacing. Too busy to look at it myself. Wonder how much the dealership will charge?

    I think mines jumped time because it cranks but won't start. Already found the broken pads in my valve cover. Ordered the tensioner. How do I ensure i put my cams back in properly Since it may be out of time. I have the cam bar and crank pin.

    Hi, Did you notice misfires when it broke I think I have this issue

    • @BrianMitchell321
      @BrianMitchell321  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's possible the valves could be out of time a little a little bit and misfiring you could have jumped time one tooth and still be running

    • @vinzclortho7766
      @vinzclortho7766 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There should be terrible noise coming from under the valve covers if the guides are worn out, the chain slapping and grinding thru the cover. You may notice a loud clanking from the covers at start up, that's the easiest way to tell.

    • @largog2577
      @largog2577 ปีที่แล้ว

      It can just sound rough when starting the engine, before the tensioners stretch… mine doesn’t have misfires but I have code p0340 - camshaft position sensor circuit 1 bank 1

      Brian Mitchell that's not much . i know one person who has touareg same engine and he did same job at 250 000 kilometers which is 150 000 miles or something like that

      @@BrianMitchell321 so if i change the tensioner there will be no need to replace the whole timing chain kit....shit is quite expenisive. Is it normal for one to hear like the china runing through the engine once the car is running. Mine is a 2009 touareg 3.6l

  • @dfdfkjkj7969
    @dfdfkjkj7969 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    LOL don't lie you used Bapmic aftermarket parts, i recognize the tensioner now. it's not OEM audi.

    • @dfdfkjkj7969
      @dfdfkjkj7969 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The bapmic ones don't work BTW ppl. OEM audi only, or if you're lucky enough you can just replace the pads.
