  • In this video we'll show you how to configure VRRP (Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol) on Juniper devices. These configs can be done on Juniper switches, routers and firewalls. We will also include additional route tracking options which will assist in VRRP failover whenever an external route is removed from the routing table.
We use EVE-NG for all labs, and the routers in this lab is running Junos version 14. The QFX switch is running Junos version 21.

Full disclosure, I haven't watched this video but have found your others very informative. Being new to Junos and given how their documentation is all over the map, content like this is great. I'd like to buy you a beverage of your choice if you decide to provide us a mechanism to do so. Thanks and please keep them coming.

Appreciate the kind words, really. We decided to start this channel for the exact reason you mention in your comments, the Juniper documention can be very confusing and difficult, even for someone who has years of experience on Junos. As for the beverage part, we are planning a patreon page or similar where we will be looking at providing downloadable configs and access to EVE-NG labs etc for our supporters. This wont happen very soon, but definitely in the pipeline. For now a like will be appreciated 😂

@@lameaveragetechies1040 it's been a frustrating journey so far. Especially the EX4650 given it's hardware/underlying OS are different than the other EX series switches we purchased. Can't tell you how many inaccurate EX documents I've read.
Anyway, I'll stop venting. Sincerely, Thanks again for your efforts.

@@robkleinpeter The 4650 and 4350 switches are some of the most confusing switches I have ever worked with. We deployed EX4600's for a customer, used the standard config, and all worked fine. They then purchased additional EX4650 switches and I figured I'd use the EX4600 configs as a template. Yeah, no. Dont even get me started on the -MP models!

@@lameaveragetechies1040 so true!!! Thankfully your here to save the day. Will be putting your LAG, LACP and Routable VLAN Interfaces videos to the test this morning. The final step before we start transitioning off our old network. No pressure.... 😁

Hi, is there any LAB to create VRRP for each VLAN using irb interfaces. you can use one EDGE switch connect to two upstream. VRRP can be possible on Switch ? Thank you

We havent done a lab on it but yeah, that's exactly how you would do it. Extend the vlan between the switches so you have an incomplete triangle to prevent a loop, but with working VRRP using IRB interfaces.
