- In this video, I show you how you too can catch Northern Pike Minnow in Shuswap Lake. Also, I show you how I deal with my NPM, as well as try some for the first time!

I find them to be a lovely white flakey meat.
They are also great for using the rest of the carcass for oil.
These fish tend to be extra oily that was then obviously used for a variety of necessities when living off the land.
Great job promoting them as it does protect our Salmon also.

i was fishing kal lake last year and caught a 8.6lb northern pike minnow, i was pissed when it got hooked because i thought i snagged a tree! these fish just dont fight at all. the moment i got it up to the boat and saw this huge pike minnow i was blown away and thought it was a carp actually, so i took it home and cooked it. DO NOT RECOMMEND HAHAHA, to this date thats the second largest fish ive every personally caught aside from a 13.6lb coho fishing off vancouver island.

Love the vid man! Glad I stumbled on your channel. My inlaws have a spot out at Adams Lake and me and the kids target these off the dock all the time, honestly they are a blast! Sometimes you hook a slab and it's a lot of fun. I had no idea they would chase big spoons or plastics like that, I've had good luck last summer with ned rigs, drives them nuts. Lot of fun sight casting off a paddle board.

but it is a fact that they are detrimental to the salmon fry, so they are indeed doing harm. there's a reason that in some states they have bountys on these fish. guys can make $16,000 a year catching and killing pike minnow. unfortunately, british columbia doesn't know the first thing about conservation.
